Brilliant. Thank you for posting this. Mam would have been 20, Dad 26, so I watch these always hoping to see them, by some huge stroke of luck. May even have been my Great Grandad driving the train! I'm allowed to wonder.

How lovely seeing egremont castle gardens in their glory. I spent so many happy hours playing there as a child. And at Coulderton, St. Bees, and Hen Beck, and shopping with my mother on Egremont market. What a wonderful film. Didn't the women look so smart?

@@colinains A bit of research has led me to believe it is the bridge between Portinscale and Keswick. The bridge has since been replaced and it is only a footbridge now.
Looking at the Old Maps website the main road to Keswick was a railway line back in the day and you had to drive via the village of Portinscale or the other side of Bass lake to get to Keswick from the west.

@@tendrosstoodross2976 you are probably right. The video is from unedited film, so the previous scene and next scene will probably help with location, although may be different days. We were there two weeks and film was expensive so there had to be a reason to shoot clips. Any idea where the riverside was, in the following clip? I was only 9 years old but from still photos and memory we did lakevisits, and of course we were from Manchester, so might have been heading home.

@@colinains I'm under the impression its the river Greta flowing through upper Fitz park in Keswick.
EDIT: 5:45 looks as if you are travelling down Nest Brow so that would fit with the chronology.

I'm told the beach is Braystones rather than Parton.

You are more than welcome , i still live in Egremont , Birthed and Nursed from Gully Flatt's . My mam and Dad had a caravan at Braystones. i think the footage shows at Nethertown Bridge looking at Braystones in the distance . ill have another look , as i was rather intoxiated when i seen it. But once again Marvellous Footage
