Perma killing a level 1 unit can actually make for very interesting runs, as you reach level 3 heroes earlier and eventually even get 2 level 4 heroes. If you manage to perma kill multiple level ones you can get even higher level heroes which eventually can scale pretty high. That is also a recommendation from me, if you have already unlocked green heroes, play a run of the choose-party mode with 4 housecats. (housecats can not level and thus giving you a level 10 character by the final boss, but you still get some more item slots for support as opposed to actually perma killing your heroes)
I’ve watched 80% of your video since the moment I found you. I’ve loved rouge-likes for 4-ish years now!!! Your videos have only made my love for rouge-likes even deeper! Love this series.
What can we learn from this? Look at the enemies before you enter a fight Like, you could've still used the glass heart, just on another person Maybe the wizard, would've amounted to something even better since that would be two +2's
When you chose the modifier with Stasis, I knew you'd face it. When you picked perma death, I knew even more. And when you put the item on your topmost hero, I just thought "He won't take it off once he faces it :)"
Important thing about items, the order in which you put them on matters. For example, in this you put the +2 -2 item on a character followed by "replace with cantrips". In that order, you just had the normal cantrips. Had you done it the other way around the +2 -2 wouldve affected the cantrips instead.
10:13 Lethal on the board: Ranger stabs the spiker for 1, Cast Vine at spiker for 1, Zap for the kill 21:19 The hammer would kill the Gnoll... if it wasn't Heavy and thus unable to hit the gnoll at all 28:11 You could cleave the top 3 and kill the bottom spider to avoid the poison. That glass heart + Tyrantus combo was very cool to watch! It's why I really hate the glass heart. It tends to be a run-killer even without Tyrantus
@@bbittercoffee Yep certainly, especially in this case when you Know Tyrantus does this same thing every time. It's not a surprise. But it can still kill your run if you run into a random death from 3 fanatics just absolutely slamming into just the character who has the glass heart.
I just spent 20 minutes chipping away at the slime boss on unfair difficulty because I had like no damage, just to die to the next fight. Unfair is nuts
I really reccomend fooling around with the custom mode, you can choose parties that can never happen in any other setting, and you can get both wildly good, and wildy bad builds, or just totally hilariously disjointed builds
When he got the wizard I was thinking "you should totally put Glass Heart on that with the perma-boosts" and lo amd behold, it would have saved him from the permadeath
To answer your question I was playing Lisa the Painful. A game without happy endings, and death every where. You should give it a try Olexa if you are daring.
irrelevant but the fact its only 9 bucks on steam is actually outrageous im not the kinda guy to go all "buy the game again to support the dev" but this is genuinely a steal
@@OlexaYTBlursed mode is definitely the best in my opinion. You start with a bless and otherwise it's like Cursed mode. Each run forms up to be very different from each other even if you use same heroes.
Yeah. that unavoidable instakill is pretty lame. Especially since it's not even directed at like... the one who did the damage or the one with the most hp or anything.
tarantus basically ending this run is so unfortunate because this couldve been a win for sure such a high risk high reward build ruined by an unbalance enemy is rough would rather take 3-5 dmg to all enemies instead of a guaranteed kill (especially because you still get the drawbacks) RIP
Could have moved the glass heart to another hero for the Tyrantus-fight if he knew he does that, and it'd be fine. That guaranteed kill is a little bullshit in my opinion too. There's two ways that I recall to avoid it: Either silence potion Tyrantus, or put undying on the top hero when you're triggering him
@@TimoRutanen Dodge on the top hero works as well. Especially helpful with the default party since the orange is at the top, and they most frequently have dodge.
@@TimoRutanen it probably still wouldve resulted in a loss imo, he had that thing where dying does the blank sides that cant be change dying in the loadout that he had would have just eventually led him to being stripped down and failing, its just that he never died its just uninspired imo, especially considering demon got reworked from having the 6 dmg to attacker on one of its hps to the dice specific ones theres just better ways to add more interesting instakills than this
@@iconica9516The deep sleeper only affects the next battle after dying right? So the characters would get back to shape for the battle after that one. Instant kills aren't the best designs unless you have good counters available. Thankfully, having one character die isn't the end of the world (usually), but this run had some extra disadvantages against Tyrantus specifically.
@@TimoRutanen yea but when tylers run ended up relying specifically on one character with everyone else but wizard being general support/meatshields, it wouldve fell apart pretty fast
You can dodge the kill if there’s a dodge on that character. Otherwise, yes you can’t avoid the kill. Keep in mind that in most cases that kill won’t be permanent though. It’s a boss, it’s meant to be hard. We just made it even harder by having the permadeath item on our guy
Wow how do you even combat that. Ig you can just never have that item on the top character. That seems less than fair and unfortunate. If only you could just unequip on first round.
You can unequip it before the combat starts, but you have to remember to. The ways to avoid it is, silence potion Tyrantus, put undying on the top hero when you trigger him, or resurrect the hero after he dies. Only the undying is really feasible and you don't have it nearly every time. Usually you just eat the death and carry on with the run.
Insta-kill effects bypass reactions like that. It's probably not easy to get one with that many pips, tho. I imagine there's an "executioner" class with something capable of meeting that condition.
ok but you can dodge the top bite, and ALOT of oranges have dodge sides which is good, (i know ranger doesn't so in this fight the only option was to not equip the glass heart)

Just beat brutal mode using this strat, it's so insane lmao
This sounds hilarious. You have my vote!
I literally just did that today, eventually I got a hero with 2 999 damage sides, one 500+ damage cantrip side and with items 999 max hp

Loving these Slice & Dice videos man, strategy heavy roguelikes gotta be some of the most fun in the genre.
at 27:40 giving the permadeath trinket to the wizard would allow giving the ranger 4 extra pips with buffing both staffs +1
