I remember in Premier League 96 the sticker of the Aston Villa player Gareth Farrelly wore the Aston Villa away kit when all the other players wore the home kit.
Class video. This is the type of conversations me and mate have over a few beers. Excellent work mate
Just loving these vids.
Reminiscing of when my club Coventry were in the Premier league
And to think we had the first Brazilian in the Premier lol 🩵
The legend (but you lot just don't want to admit it) Glenn Helder. Glad to see he is good. Stand up comedian? Now that's an interesting one lol lol.
I had the Dmitri Kharine figure that Corinthian made in the 90’s. Nice memory!
He lived in the house opposite mine during his Chelsea time. We had Dave Beasant up the road too on my paper round. Good times. 😁
Andrea Silenzi ended up moving to New York and playing guitar for a goth metal band called Type O Negative. Crazy.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can’t make it up 😂
Type O were brilliant too
Very mid player. Had one game for Italy and did nothing
@@petegonad except that he literally did 🤣🤣
Milosevic was also top scorer of the European Championship in 2000 if remember correctly, together with Patrick Kluivert.
What a throwback! Remembered almost all of those players but hadn't heard their names in ages!
Whenever a goalkeeper wore leggings I called them Kharine Pants.
@@clivet3252 then a few years later mart pooooooooom! came along
Andrea Silenzi. Bought by Forest on the strength of a highlights video shown by his agent to our (then) manager Frank Clark. The first goal Silenzi scored for us was a ricochet off his nose during a goal-mouth scramble as he lay flat on the turf, he wasn't even aware at first that he'd scored! Massive flop for us, frustrating at the time, but these days I have to smile and shake my head when I hear his name.
An embarrassment of a player. Can’t believe he played a game for Italy in the era of Baggio, Zola , Vialli 😅😅😅
Worst pro I've ever seen
I had a t-shirt with "I saw Silenzi score" on it. Useless. So bad even Pratt wouldn't have signed him!
Great video, I do wish there was never a separation between the old football league and the premier league. Mirandinha was playing for Newcastle only a few years prior to the Brazilian mentioned here as an example. Aside from a few changes, the old Div One and Premier League represent virtually the same thing - the top tier of English football. It’s as if history has been erased sometimes.
Get what you mean. But the angle of this channel is predominantly to cover the Premier League and mainly in the 90’s
Savo's father was shot dead by his grandfather...
I remember all of these players and all their pictures from that sticker album. A shame I never completed the collection
me too pal. we're both sad af and i know I'm very proud of that lol
jaime moreno was a good cheap womderkid on CM97
Can’t believe Nicky Barmby got on the front Cover lol
Isaías is a legend at Benfica, shame it didn't work out for him in the PL
Cracking video I had just got over how bad silenzi was now it’s all come flashing back 😂
Really enjoyed this video. Thanks.
I still have this sticker book fully completed from when I was a kid.
RIP Ingesson deserved more of a chance at Wednesday
i have this album, all completed, for me Ruud Gullit was the hardest sticker to collect
Completed most of the albums from the 90s.
Graeme Le Saux always caught me out.
Metrostars aren't defunct, they're just called ny red bulls.
Liverpool didn't win the league cup in 1993, rhat was villa. Liverpool won it in 1995
Thanks for the Correction 95 it was although Arsenal was 93, Villa was 94
As for NY they were sold off to Red Bull, so I suppose they are defunct in a way as are Wimbledon, after becoming MK. That’s the thought process anyway 👍🏻🙂
Mirandinha was the first player to play in the English top flight. Football didn’t start when the premier league did.
That’s correct but we are clearly covering the Premier League in this series, in particular the 96 sticker album, hence the title, the theme, the graphics 👍🏻
@@Retro-Football-Club Your channel is called Retro FC. 😂
Yep…….🤷🏻♂️🤣
RIP Klas. Still lives on in my username.
Great video again. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
These are really great videos, but they would definitely be improved if you didn't use an AI narrator.
They would be but then Alan would be out of a job ? Jokes aside we will be looking to move away from it in the future as the channel grows hopefully.
@@Retro-Football-Club Haha, fair enough! I do think it will help attract more people, as some folks just switch off straight away when they hear AI.
Still, great work! I'm enjoying the nostalgia! 🥲
For the time being it’s all we can do with the equipment and bits we have. It’s still not prevented our videos from surging over the 20k mark so far, in fact as soon as we posted these videos the channel sky rocketed in views. Agree it’s a bit iffy though. We’ll get there 🙂
@@Retro-Football-Club You will mate, the content is quality & that's the main thing!
Appreciate the comment and the feedback 👊🏻
Right up my street, thanks!
Miss them days when every club had different goals nets and some coloured ones like there team colours like norwich city, all same these days goals nets at every club.
100% 👊🏻
Why would Sheff Weds need Klas Ingesson when they had Carlton Palmer? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Leeds had just signed him for £2.6 million
The only sticker album I ever completed this was. My cover was turquoise though not red. Same players but a different colour entirely
Never saw those, do you still have it ?
@@Retro-Football-Club I did up until not so long ago. But not got it anymore
Great watch, but shocking pronunciation in parts.
AI Alan unfortunately. 🙂 will be moving away from it soon
Plenty of options for United, Van Der Ghouw was there, Solsjkaer, Poborsky, Ronnie Johnson, Jordi Cruyff
Wrong season. None of them arrived until the 96/97 season.
Only foreign players in the the 96 album were Schmeichel, Cantona, Keane and Irwin.
@@Retro-Football-Club ohhh, my memory is failing me in my old age 😂
@@Retro-Football-Clubif you include Irwin then Keane, literally lived 5 miles from each other in cork
Nice brief appearance of William Prunier. 😂
Could probably do a whole episode on that cameo alone 🤣
@@Retro-Football-Club Definitely, so many questions about him.
probably the first time ive ever heard someone call the FA Cup the f-a cup :D
Welcome to A.I Alan, he’s over the moon you referred to him as someone, he’s far from perfect but he does a job
Long live A I Alan 🤣🤣
In Premier League 96 some of the so called shiny stickers had a green background.
It was a weird one wasn’t it
Liverpool won the league cup in 1995 not 1993 mate. Great video tho. Keep them coming 🤝
That threw me aswel lol, again…. Great vid though 👍🏼
Silenzi.....a nose like Zlatan
Shame about the AI voice
Can’t discriminate our Alan, he tries his best 🤷🏻♂️
@@Retro-Football-Club would prefer a human
@@jeniferallan6693 its not perfect but he’s not bad, as the channel grows we’ll look towards a more permanent solution
@@Retro-Football-Club however it was interesting...I just hate AI
