my favorite theory is that the lost primarchs fell to chaos but did something to redeem themselves so instead of being deemed traitor legions, they just got expunged as their reward for redemption
Some fun ideas: 1. One of the infant Primarchs was raised by friendly xenos races and fought against the Imperium. 2. One rebelled against the Imperium because the Imperium was too cruel and monstrous towards humans and peaceful xenos races. 3. One got bodyjacked by a rogue AI or possessed by a daemon. 4. One was too ambitious and power-hungry, and decided to try and conquer the Imperium (edit: which would differ somewhat from Horus, who was motivated more by resentment and a belief that the Emperor had failed). 5. One got found by Orks and somehow became a Warboss (bit like the Digganobz). 6. One got captured by the Rangdan or another aggressive xenos race as a child, and was enslaved and used as a living weapon against the Imperium.
@@battenburg6089 A few points: 1) The Horus Heresy would have been a much larger and far more cataclysmic than a rebellion by the II or XI legions, and far harder to conceal from absolutely everyone 2) By the end of the Horus Heresy the Emperor is basically a corpse, and Malcador is dead. Who would give the order to cover it up to the same degree? 3) In a certain sense there is still a cover up, since the Imperium suppresses knowledge of Chaos and the existence of the Traitor Primarchs and Chaos Space Marines. Ordinary people don't know about the Horus Heresy at all. It's just that there are more people who we encounter who know the truth, like Space Marines, Inquisitors, senior officials, and important nobles etc. So, all in all, I think it does make sense actually.
@@drafezard7315 Like I said in my other reply, you're ignoring the difference of scale, and the fact that would make a coverup much harder, since basically the entire Imperium was devastated and half the Primarchs turned traitor. Moreover, with the Emperor incapacitated and Malcador dead, there wouldn't really be anyone who could enforce a perfect coverup anyway. Honestly I always stick with the idea that because every primarch has an aspect of the emperor, one of the primarchs killed has too much humanity and was super not happy with killing everything. He wouldn't exterminate alien life, so they called him the first traitor and blamo'd him. The second one has the aspect of a blank, because the emperor does have that too. But this blank primarch was so strong it threatened the Emperor being a psyker that the primarch was locked away by the custodes (It's stated there's one prisoner at the very very bottom of the custode vaults in terra).
I like the idea that one of the Lost Primarchs died before the Emperor found them, and so the Legion that was meant for them was just absorbed into some other Legion and everyone was mindwiped to maintain morale and due to the shame of one of the Emperor’s sons fully dying
there is the Fan Theory that the Subject XI under the Imperial Palace is Primarch XI, which might be bit on the Nose but how subtle can you be so why not have him there and he Mutated somehow into an Omega Primarch Level Blank and to sprinkle a bit of Fluff on: he saw the truh gestalt of the Emperor or became so knurd that he became insane since the saw the very fabric of space, time and the warp, like when you look at something from Lovecraft. For II, why not have him gone on an Intergalactic Mission, either as a Rogue Primarch or just so secret, that nobody outside of Big E and Malcador are allowed to remember it.
I like to think one of them sided with the interex after the events of planet murder.....When the imperium inevitibly turned on them, i like to think one the primarch's stood up and said WTAF! They just saved our asses!....
I thought one of the lost primarchs was part Skaven blood and was raised on a skaven world and once the Emperor found out about it he was not on board and did an exterminatus and killed his rat-man son. This is also the reason why there are no skaven in 30k or 40k, they were only on that 1 planet and all died at once.
i always subscribed to the theory that the two primarchs were participating in the Ragdan Xenocides and were just like "this isn't right" and the emperor new they were persuasive enough to be a problem so had to get rid of them and hide the reason lest the truth about xenos NOT all being hideous human eating monstrosities get out
My theory is that one of them landed on a world with Chaos stuff going on and was, to some extent, corrupted by it even before the Emperor found him, while the other ended up on a planet with frequent friendly contact with some kind of xenos and therefore didn't subscribe to human supremacy (which could dove-tail nicely with your theory).
Eh, that doesn't really make sense. What little we know about the Rangdan Cerabvores/Osseivores is that they were a very dangerous expansionist threat, and that they were connected with the Slaugth (a species of 'maggot men') who consider human brains a delicacy. It would make much more sense if they opposed any of the xenocides against actual innocent species and polities, like the xenos-friendly Interex and Diasporex, or xenos species like the Adarnians (who were initially allowed to be an Imperial protectorate because they were so non-threatening, but who were then rapidly driven to extinction when it was discovered they were a good ingredient for rejuvenat treatments).
I reckon one of them got eaten by the Rangda (the forgotten), and they were supposed to hush it up because that would shatter the illusion of the primarch's infallibility and undermine the Emperor's grand plan, but one of them wouldn't shut up and Leman Russ ate him (the purged).
It’s weird that the lost primarchs apparently did something bad Like half of them already turned to chaos what could they have possibly done My theory is one wasn’t xenophobic and was willing to work with more stable xeno factions
Maybe one actually rejected the Emperor and continued to live a peaceful life on there adopted homeworld Some backwater lost colony world somewhere just has a 12 feet tall imortal farmer

Maybe they were an early test that was deemed too big because compared to them everyone else just looked like tiny toys.

Tom and Ben as primarchs would basically be the warhammer equivalent to galaxy quest
