The Hurricanes are an interesting case. Ron Francis did an excellent job setting the team up for success via quality drafting and couple of trades that allowed us to get guys like Aho, Teraveinen, Slavin, Pesce, and much more. He will do wonders for the Kraken in that sense. He was not good at creating a team for the now. He's in a bit of a precarious position because of mistakes he made in the past, but I don't believe in firing someone for what they did several years ago when they're doing a good job in the present.
David Backes will finally expire this offseason so we can just finally put that behind us. I’m confident Charlie Coyle will bounce back, I definitely think he was slightly overpaid but when he’s on his game he’s a very good hockey player. Biggest thing I want DS to address is John Moore’s contract. That’s an annoying contract on this team right now, and that money could be used for a decent bottom 6 player or just another depth dman. He’s gotta figure out how to get out of that this offseason Sweeney’s whole tenure here was about finding 2nd line wingers for Krejci...we thought it was Debrusk but Hall came in and I don’t think any of us are ready for him to leave. Shannon, really good analysis of the Sharks GM situation. I'm thinking that if the owner wants to make a change, he will "promote" Wilson and then bring in a new person to run the team. It really needs a change. I'm hoping...

If Ken Holland can find a way to keep Barrie , Larson , Klefbom , RNH and Smith I’ll be impressed. He has made Edmonton more desirable for other players for example Barrie said no to other more expensive offers to play in Edmonton and Puljujarvi came back I believe because of Holland and Smith only wanted to play in Edmonton so there’s something he’s doing where guys wanna stick around credit that to the GM
As I said not too long ago, Ken Holland's future in Edmonton will depend on wether or not he brings in support for McDavid and Driasitl. As long as Edmonton relies on just those two guys for their offense they'll have a hard time winning the Cup.
Not only did the Sharks already have Burnsie, but Merkely should be ready soonish as well, so it's not like it's even a bridge until he's ready to go and Burns' decline.
Great video Shannon. I think most GM in NHL are going to be safe but here are what I think Flames Brad Treliving is going to get fire if Flames are going to missed playoffs. He fired to many coaches in 2 years. He mad good trades and signings. Sharks Doug Wilson I am surprised that he is still Sharks GM. He needs to go he been there to long and they need a new face for that team. Jets there GM might get fired after this seasoned but could be on the hot seat. He needs to fix the defence and if he doesn't the Management could fired him next season and Vancouver could do the same.
Suddenly decided I want to see Ovechkin going to Toronto for league's min to play with Matthews and Marner. Just to see this "Alex Ovechkin is a Leaf" video from Steve Dangle.
The reason Billy G got rid of the centers is because they didn't fit the culture that Billy G knows would work in the locker room. Kunin, Staal, letting Koivu walk, and it's worked wonders. Get the selfish players out, and bring in team first guys
Don Sweeney gets some heat from Boston fans and I get it...It could be frustrating with him at times. I really don’t have a problem with him, I don’t think he’s ever been on the “hot seat” like some fans claim. Yeah, he’s very bold in the draft. He’s been reaching for quite a bit, that’s probably his most annoying habit being in office. At the same time, he’s also made some fantastic draft picks. Never really dished out consistently terrible contracts. Backes was bad...Beleskey..John Moore. I think he’s learned his lesson though, he really targets the good analytical players now. I’m never too worried about bad contracts when it comes to Don Sweeney. This trade deadline we just had...he NAILED it. Brought in 2 players who have strong analytics in Taylor Hall and Mike Reilly. They have been money. Curtis Lazar is another guy who just added a much needed spark to the 4th line. Kuraly and Wagner have been miserable for the most part this season, Lazar added speed and life to the fourth line. That was huge, this team needed it. Biggest biggest challenge for Sweeney this year will be handling Taylor Hall. He brought him in, fans like me are drooling over him, he’s won the fans over. He’s helping this team win. Sweeney’s challenge is to bring him back in the offseason.
I dunno about Montreal definitely making the playoffs over Calgary. They got the inside track dude to their current lead and the game in hand, but you look at their remaining schedules, and Calgary's got 4 games against Vancouver, while Montreal doesn't have one game left where I'd say they are the favourite to win.
Dubois’ old man is an assistant coach for Jets’ farm team. Dubois can stay with his parents and save on food, gas and rent, right? 😉 it is no brainer he resigns.
I don’t really understand the idea that the flames underperformed last season. We made it relatively far and lost in 7 games to the Stanley cup runner up. I think we should have won that series so maybe that has something to do with it but all things considered we didn’t underperform nearly as much as teams like the oilers and the leafs did
Also I don’t know if Murray could have messed those picks up, I mean two teams literally picked players that were rated lower. It’s like giving the Habs credit for drafting Price when Minnesota should have done it
Fans might want him gone. But I see Bob Murray staying until his contract expires next year. They already have his replacement in the wings. Ducks have gone in house with their GMs under these owners
If you do a bad contracts video get ready to spend some considerable time on SJ. Most of that team is one bad contract. Glad to see so many people in favor of getting rid of DW.
Doug can't help it with his offensive dmen. But on a serious note, I'm failing to see the vision Doug had when he traded for Erik and when he signed Erik. He had to have known the risks and consequences, like, what was going through his head?
Benning is easy: crummy at signing free agents, pretty damn good at scouting. Get him an assistant, someone with experience at it. Its not rocket surgery.

David Poile has been GM of Nashville longer than Auston Matthews has been alive.
Wild.
No. Nashville are the Predators.
@@paladin677 Granlund, Haula, Kunin... relatively Wild...
Hard to believe preds got rid of Weber suter Jones on defense and still have great defenseman
Lovley hat and jersey!

Wow that “Edmonton is on another level than Winnipeg” comment did not age well. But thats hockey for ya
Suddenly decided I want to see Ovechkin going to Toronto for league's min to play with Matthews and Marner. Just to see this "Alex Ovechkin is a Leaf" video from Steve Dangle.
26:10 naah, we don't do that here
15:47 Well, turns out Dolan doesn't watch THG.
After John Ferguson jr. Dubas is a genius. Especially now that he has learned that soft teams speedy teams will not work against Boston.
I think Dubas has overpaid some players, but at least he didn't give Zaitsev and Marleau big ass contracts.
Nice job 👏 👍
Hey, *nice board!*
I love being so early but the video is still struggling to play
Noteworthy: Brian Burke in Pitt & Brandon Pridham for the TSX
Dorion’s done a great job
I dunno about Montreal definitely making the playoffs over Calgary. They got the inside track dude to their current lead and the game in hand, but you look at their remaining schedules, and Calgary's got 4 games against Vancouver, while Montreal doesn't have one game left where I'd say they are the favourite to win.
At 1:58 of the video, Shadow shows up late for work again
Dubois’ old man is an assistant coach for Jets’ farm team. Dubois can stay with his parents and save on food, gas and rent, right? 😉 it is no brainer he resigns.
Yzerman wouldn't be our first Canadian Governor. Probably not our worst Canadian Governor either.
I don’t really understand the idea that the flames underperformed last season. We made it relatively far and lost in 7 games to the Stanley cup runner up. I think we should have won that series so maybe that has something to do with it but all things considered we didn’t underperform nearly as much as teams like the oilers and the leafs did
Lou is important but i pray Trotz doesn’t retire any time soon
Trotz isn’t gonna retire unless he’s dead
Also I don’t know if Murray could have messed those picks up, I mean two teams literally picked players that were rated lower. It’s like giving the Habs credit for drafting Price when Minnesota should have done it
Fans might want him gone. But I see Bob Murray staying until his contract expires next year. They already have his replacement in the wings. Ducks have gone in house with their GMs under these owners
If you do a bad contracts video get ready to spend some considerable time on SJ. Most of that team is one bad contract. Glad to see so many people in favor of getting rid of DW.
Ron Francis’s track record is already 10x better than Jim Benning.
Doug can't help it with his offensive dmen. But on a serious note, I'm failing to see the vision Doug had when he traded for Erik and when he signed Erik. He had to have known the risks and consequences, like, what was going through his head?
Hey Shannon, do you write the taxes off for all your whiteboard markers and boards as work related purchases? lol
They are office supplies. Of course they're write offs.
Benning is easy: crummy at signing free agents, pretty damn good at scouting. Get him an assistant, someone with experience at it. Its not rocket surgery.
