    That's a nice, well-stocked grocery store. The produce looks great! Of course, everything looks inexpensive to most people in the U.S., but our salaries are much higher. It's all relative.

    Compared to other countries it’s cheap but compare to 2019 now its 3x expensive 🥲🥲

      Yeah, I think the prices for all countries are going higher because of the inflation.

      @@halfrussian The combination of the pandemic and the previous Sri Lanka government's overspending really put a world of hurt on the general population. It will take some time for their economy to get back on track. Fortunately, they are close to India so some items can be cheaply imported and Sri Lanka grows a lot of its own food.

    I see prices are really affordable if you go for local products. Fruit and veggies are much cheaper than here in Philippines

    • @halfrussian
      @halfrussian  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, I didn't know that in Philippines is more expensive.

      Mainly fruit and vegetables a rest of the prices are similar i guess.
      BTW there was onion shortage here a few months ago and the price of onion went up to 10$ per kilo for a moment. Crazy

    if you can do the shopping same items , fruits and vegetables from seperate shops and other groceries from local shop(not from supermarket ) you can purchase same brands then copare the prices. You can save 3 to 4$ easily

    These prices are much more expensive than Portugal. The Aussie guy video advertised living on $400 a month including groceries, bills and rent is probably b/s.

    Some of the vegetables were Ladies fingers (okra) which is great for stews/gumbo or breaded and fried: the green and white, round ball shaped vegetable you couldn't identify is aubergine/eggplant; sweet potatoes or yams which are great made into baked French fires or cottage fries; drumsticks are the 18 in pods of the Moringa tree and shallots which are sweet and nutty when fried (excellent in sauces).
    I use keto coconut milk (powdered) to make hot cocoa mix and chai tea mix. You really save on fat calories that way.

    Have you tried ordering cooked food, baked food, Sri Lankan short eats etc. at any of the Supermarkets in Sri Lanka where they have a Food Eating section where people can relax and eat inside the supermarket while they are there to buy Grocery Items? Did this Keels Supermarket sell readymade food such as Rice and Curry food, Sri Lankan Short eats etc. that can be eaten inside the Supermarket? May be you can do another video during a visit to a Sri Lankan Keells Supermarket and tryout some of their cooked food that they sell that can be eaten in at the Supermarket.
