no candy So your saying that having to think about heath and safety and have insurance is taking a way freedom on a video about heath and safety. And The whole reason they have safety videos in the first place is because Companies where forced by governments to think about heath and safety. And movies still do even more dangerous stunts then this all the time and nobody’s trying to stop them and safety videos are under all the same rules for filming so yes they could still do this but the reason they don’t do it is because most safety videos now are just slide shows with someone talking and the people that make them have Decided that doing it that way is better
the music/tones in the video makes this video even better, I actually learn like this. The narrator also with the same one used on "The Twilight Zone".
A classic. Plenty of laughs packed into the video. Best watched with some buddies after a few brews. The "listen up bucko" style of the narrator is priceless.
My dad got his foot broken by Towmotor. The operator had shut it off and my dad was talking to him. When he got up he released the bake and it rolled on to my dad's foot. 120000 pounds on top of your foot is no fun.
Im from Norway, and in 2005, at 17 years old i actually had to sit and watch this for my forklift operators sertification.... And it wasnt meant as a joke either!
"An operator that doesn't see the color of danger BEFORE he drives into a trailer... isn't likely to see it after!" Way too true; hear at my warehouse park alone roughly FOUR people are KILLED at/around the loading docks... annually on average... and the industrial park my work is located in isn't all that big either...
Thanks for posting this. I haven't seen this for over 30 years. A great Safety film. Last time I saw it was in the Military. Good laughs but very convincing.
And some red on his head because it isn't working LOL. nice old training video, been driving for 12 years, but I strongly believe due to fast-moving technology we never really stop learning.
I watched this very film 32 years ago. I'd driven forklifts on our farm, so, I kinda knew what I was doing already. With that said, after all those years of driving as a full time job, I consider myself extremely lucky to have never had an accident while always getting my work done. I also still believe that the day I don't learn something new is the day that I give it up! NEVER get complacent ladies and gentlemen, it'll come back to haunt you.
lactosis- -undefined Only once. I normally drive my truck to work. My trucks, to this day, always have manual transmissions. One day, I had to take the wife's car with an automatic. I almost broke the "multi-function switch" off of the steering column trying to get that damn car to move! I also find myself blowing the horn at intersections now and then lol!
lactosis- -undefined Nope, not just you. Be safe and always resist the urge to run over the idiots that always walk right behind and/or in front of you...even though they'll feel it a lot more than your forklift will.
+Erin Lassley absolutely. I know there's a Spanish-language version on TH-cam already, but this is the only English version I've seen. I'm honestly just happy that I can see this video in the English version (I don't speak or understand Spanish) regardless of the quality.
There's in Germany also an educational video very well known for forklift drivers: #StaplerfahrerKlausenglish Enjoy it! It's quite heavy used for beginners to open their eyes for the... colors of danger. PS: English subbed !
The steel truck shows up at the yard with our 2 inch 8x20 plates. Operator kid hauls out to the truck, spins the forklift around, and jabs the forks under the first plate. Too bad he was about an inch off and shoved the plate off the trailer. Good thing the brand new, just picked up that morning BMW belonging to the captain of the CG cutter was parked where it could catch the plate and prevent it from being damaged. The edge of the plate landed just behind the rear window and cut the beemer in half. Nothing sadder than a ship captain crying over whats left of his new ride.
It took everything I had in me not to laugh in a interview I was in when we had to test for this needless to say I walked home 45 minutes from where the job was and laughed the whole way lol 😅
I was working in a smaller warehouse and had a electric forklift, that thing was great no smell or noise and on a very small decline I could get her to go 11 miles an hour ,8 around the corners.
A guy got crushed by his own forklift where I worked, he didnt set the parking brake theres was a slight incline he was moving pallets around it backed into him pinning him against a wall, use the parking brake even in your car every time
I've banged the side of my head on my own forks after leaving the forks raised before ("it's only for a minute", I thought, then I proceeded to try to walk around the machine and then try to bend over to grab something). It's a lesson I didn't need to be taught again, haha
I drove a Forklift for 4 years and did sketchy shit with it to help out fixing up the store I worked at. Thankfully the worst thing that happened was when I was moving a pallet with 3 cu/ft bales of peat moss tipped over and broke the already rotted pallet.
Well, I’m sure there was at least one that didn’t pass the inspection, they probably used that one. But yeah this budget is looking bigger than that stack of loose pallets 😂
Once I was loading a 15k fork onto the trailer, it lifted the back of my truck up and well we all went for a ride, thank God I was about to drive the blame thing the rest of the way up on the trailer while all that was going on to get the trucks rear end back on the ground so it would stop, I was about 150' from hitting my neighbors cars HAHAHA.
The real danger is some of the stunt men that did these accident simulations. The guy rigging the lift when it turns over sideways, the guy driving the lift through the brick wall, and the one running the lift off the dock into the water.
@@LazloNQ I do like to watch old school training videos of all kinds from time to time on youtube, and the new ones from USCSB, and while watching the show, Chris used this footage for a sketch bit, and that ridiculous explosion made have to look this one up lol, and i think this is the easiest full version to find in a sea of random forklift safety videos. idk also just felt to comment on it since a very short lived 90s niche sketch show of all things got a Dane to see the true color of danger! The reddish color deterioration makes it far more sinister, as if the visuals and the foreboding soundtrack were not enough. Like if you ever hung off the back of a forklift to help keep the steer wheels on the ground. I had to unload "U-boxes" for a uhaul dealership with a Clark electric forklift. Heaviest box i ever had to move was full of books. So many truckers would stand RIGHT THERE while i loaded these full 5'x8'x7' boxes into their trailer. At one point i thought, "why is your life in MY hands right now?" And thinking that made me so mad, i started yelling at this guy to get tf away. That attitude stuck with me from then on, i was 18 when that happened. Im almost 28 now and ill get just as pissed if/when it happens again. Having good risk assessment is key. The Holy Trinity of heavy equipment safety educational videos!!
Off I go to "The Drums of Danger" video next!

Nit working head is a core of every single problem in our lives.
I LOVE old training tapes like this... the narration, overly dramatic music, seeing old equipment, and seeing how life used to be.
I had a hard time keeping it serious during an interview watching this
These guys didn't just "shake hands with danger"....they had steaks & a few brews w/it after hours.
One guy is even banging Danger's wife during his lunch break behind Danger's back.
the stunts in this are genuinly impressive for a safty video, youd never be allowed to drive a fork lift of a pier and leap from it in these days !

Anybody heard from ol Chuck Hamblin? He is the company’s best o-ring fitter. He could probably use a tow motor.
I saw this when I was in forklift training back in 2015, so you know it has staying power to be still in use.
I saw it in 2001. Ole reel to reel

It's 2023 and i have to watch i too for training
14:59 "And some red on his head, because it isn't working"
This narrator has NO CHILL!!!!
(Wife) What did you do at work today honey? (Husband) you know, usual shit, flipped my forklift and busted through a few block walls like mr koolaid.
OH YEAHHH!
And then I crashed my forklift into the sea, and caused a massive fire.
" they have good safety records..."
" most of them.... "
the audio stutters were my favorite part
7:17 "The operator, Bob Browrrarrer is there at 9:20"
I can't stop laughing on that part. I keep backing it up to that part.

So remember 11:07 a parked forklift makes for a potent Cockblocker.
Some red on his head, because its not working lol
What an exciting narrator......keeps one right on the edge of the seat
It showed up in my recommendation feed

2:40 "Signs can't be everywhere that danger might appear" You should see my new lawn mower... covered in warning stickers
The colour of danger is in the acting, I thought the old "caterpillar" safety videos were bad, but this "towmotor" video wins all the razzies 😁😁

Same here. I remember thinking this was some dry humor but very informative.
After watching this video I jumped off my forklift..
I had to watch this in 1978 as part of my forklift training. Fortunately I never became an example of "The Color of Danger"!
I watched this back in the mid 70's when i worked as Forklift driver at Caterpillar Glasgow Plant in Scotland where we built the D6 and D8 dozers.
