I was not familiar with this performer, but have loved the piano music of Debussy for many years, and think it beautifully played here. Bravo, Mr. Devine. This set may need to go in my collection.
This is hands down the best Debussy playing I ever heard, what a find! Mr. Devine is divine! His playing is technically masterful, but never calls attention to itself; it's all about the music with him. He makes every other player of Debussy I've heard sound either artificial, brutal, boring, eccentric, inauthentic, or over pedaled. Yes,, he's that good! He is also a composer and conductor, so perhaps that's one of the reasons he plays with such supreme musicality.
Great recording and playing by Christopher Devine. One of the very few available albums of the complete piano music of Debussy, who was one of the most original keyboard composers in history, along with Chopin, Bartok and a couple of others. I have always had a great love for Debussy because of his use of rich color and varying sonorities in the upper and lower registers of the piano. Too bad he only lived about 56 years.
Devine is very little known. Yet this body of work of Debussy is Fabulous, Fantastic to the core. CD should be known to the music world soon, he is great 👌🙏

I feel sorry for all those people who only know Clair De Lune, and absolutely no other piece of Debussys. My favourite Debussy piece is the Prelude known as the Sunken Cathedral. Debussy was an absolute genius, and is quite rightly known as one of the great composers.

Wonderful recording. I have a one question regarding Debussy's Nocturne. The moment at 47:56 just before forte part is played different than usually. Is it one of the 'alternative version' of the composition as you stated in the description or it's just a misreading?
Best Debussy out there! I love his reductions of ballets! I love his realistic touch! Debussy requires good technique, not a difference in touch. I am tired of Debussy with the soft-pedal. Give me the Chopin-approach to the Debussy-sound.
"His close affinity to Debussy’s sound world is proven is this magnificent recording of the complete works, clearly a labour of love." Please fix the "is" in this sentence? It should be "in".
*CHRISTOPHER DEVINE is a great pianist. Can someone please write down a list of the Debussy pieces he performs, that is, the name of each piece? Preferably associating the name of each piece with the time (minutes and seconds) where the piece begins. Thank you very much for this great favor. I'm sure many people will love this.*

Gran trabajo! Muchas gracias
Thanks
Thank you so very much for this. A heartfelt thank you.
I can remember being very little and crawling around under the piano when my mother was playing these
It's hard to believe that we have this incredible collection of Debussy at our fingertips. What a beautiful set of tracks. Thank you.
Splendid recording 👌
It's a wonderful gift! 💓
Thank you for your nice words
I don't know how to convince you 😉
In high school I listened to all Debussy’s music while I did paintings. Brings back so many peaceful memories!
I'm listening to Debussy while painting now :)
Debussy music is a kaleidoscope
This guy does a fantastic job with Debussy, a composer whose music is so often so poorly played! Most pianists, even really good ones play his music too harshly and aggressively. This guy brings out the mysticism and elfishness of Debussy. Good job Mr Devine!
What an interesting, insightful observation! Thanks.
True. This isn't t' 'Promenade' from Pictures At An Exhibition or a Scriabin etude. Debussy's music is often incredibly subtle and delicate, and should be played as such, by someone who is aware of how the music fits into the French piano tradition of Alfred Cortot, Marguerite Long and others, highly individualistic, just like Debussy's style was highly individualistic and quite different from his contemporaries, even the significant number of works he composed in late Romantic style.
Good words👏🏻👏🏻🎹🎼🎵🎶🎶
I wish more people listened to this amazing compilation of Debussy's works
Christopher's playing of Debussy is quintessentially French, lyrical and amazing.
Yet he's Dutch, of mixed parentage 😉
Whatever piano he uses is absolutely perfect for Debussy...I need it
This splendor is undisputed
His performance is absolutely stunning
Inspired by his wonderful and moving performance,
I might have dream of Debussy and his daughter who was full of sorrow
Debussy's complete piano works~~this is heaven
AMEN AND AMEN
BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL 😊
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH 💯🌹♥️
A typically French music from the turn of the 20th Century. Wonderfully played. Thank you ever so much, Mr Devine!
I was not familiar with this performer, but have loved the piano music of Debussy for many years, and think it beautifully played here. Bravo, Mr. Devine. This set may need to go in my collection.
The wonderfulness of Debussy’s music is unrivaled by any other music
Amazing!! Why is he not so famous as a pianist? Better to know this recording than never. Thank you!
This splendor of words cannot attach it
The comfort of his performance is out of this world, and soothes my soul.
Mr. Devine, you made my day again.
His comfortable performances have a healing effect, and a exilir for the soul
This is hands down the best Debussy playing I ever heard, what a find! Mr. Devine is divine! Yes, it's positively exhilarating 💯
My favourite performer of Debussy’s work
Debussy is my faaaavorite, thank you so much for this!
Great recording and playing by Christopher Devine. I have always had a great love for Debussy because of his use of rich color and varying sonorities in the upper and lower registers of the piano. Too bad he only lived about 56 years.
It's a wonderful rendition of Debussy works, excellent piano, and recording. Imagine if they had filmed also...🙏🙏❤️
I’ve listened to this recording on TH-cam countless times.
I finally decided to purchase this album and I’m glad I did.
The harmony at 7:11-7:12 is absolutely a new idea, sound fresh✌️
Words cannot explain how thankful I am for the existence of this video and your channel!
Monumental. Trabajo inmenso. Muchas gracias por compartir. Saludos desde Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Thank you very much for posting this! Great having everything in one place, and beautifully played. Some rare pieces here!
Wonderful interpretations of my preferred composer. Bought the 5 disc set.

Great collection!!! One of my faves!! Listening to it all day!! Thank you!
Heavenly music and heavenly played. Thanks !!!
Heavenly indeed. Divine!
Devine is very little known. Yet this body of work of Debussy is Fabulous, Fantastic to the core. CD should be known to the music world soon, he is great 👌🙏
Grazie. Stupendo album, incantevole interpretazione.
Absolute beauty captured in musical form.
His wonderful performance embodies the musical aesthetics of Debussy .
He Ìs a modern Alchemist generating impression and comfort and pleasure
Mr. Devine, you are divine!
A touch close to that of Marcelle Meyer. How wonderful to hear such sensitivity. Thanks Mr. Devine.
I see much more stylistic connection between Debussy and Rachmaninov than I ever remembered.
I think if Debussy's music was a drink it would be a chilled glass of the best ever French white wine on a Summer evening.
"Sans cette Musique ...impossible, elle fait partie de ce qu'il ya a de plus apaisant, doux, élevé et si "simple" (pure).. De ce qui nous aide à supporter tant et tant " LFXh
I already have a completel piano works of Debussy but I really like this Devine gentleman's renditions. Will be buying a copy of this one as well.
Thank you so much, that's exactly what I was looking for
Gracias.
I love your music Claude.

Thank you.

OUTSTANDING! -- Kirk Reynolds, editor, The Orchestra & Its Transformations (Scribners, NYC)
Thank you for this beauty
Never knew Bill Weasley could play the piano
Beautiful
awesome! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!
Thanks for uploading!
I feel sorry for all those people who only know Clair De Lune, and absolutely no other piece of Debussys. My favourite Debussy piece is the Prelude known as the Sunken Cathedral. Debussy was an absolute genius, and is quite rightly known as one of the great composers.
Don't feel sorry for people who have to at least start somewhere.
The Best! Thanks! 🎉

truly a gift to humanity!
AMAZING...!!!

I'm no piano connaseur but this is really nice.
This ginger plays pretty good.
Wonderful recording. I have a one question regarding Debussy's Nocturne. The moment at 47:56 just before forte part is played different than usually. Is it one of the 'alternative version' of the composition as you stated in the description or it's just a misreading?
Ottimo e abbondante.
Waouh 👍 yeah 🌹
maybe I should learn all of these
very nice touch and good ear as well-how i know? nothing is offensive or overdone, but just right, thanks.
Best Debussy out there! I love his reductions of ballets! I love his realistic touch!
Debussy requires good technique, not a difference in touch.
I am tired of Debussy with the soft-pedal. Give me the Chopin-approach to the Debussy-sound.
Nice
I love debussy!
beautiful hair!
I came here for goose music, i was not disappointed
Debussy made good goose music ngl

were any of these tracks used in The War Of The Worlds (1939)? if so, I'd like timestamps to the sections they used for the broadcast, plz & Thanx
"His close affinity to Debussy’s sound world is proven is this magnificent recording of the complete works, clearly a labour of love."
Please fix the "is" in this sentence? It should be "in".
*CHRISTOPHER DEVINE is a great pianist. Can someone please write down a list of the Debussy pieces he performs, that is, the name of each piece? Preferably associating the name of each piece with the time (minutes and seconds) where the piece begins. Thank you very much for this great favor. I'm sure many people will love this.*
Wow, that's proper Irish red hair ! ☘
Nice portrait. Unforgettable 🥕🎹
Dream time with Debussy for the next six hours

Could you show us the names of all of these pieces???
Six and a half hours of debussy 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Quando ascolto Debussy torno in me
Is Debussy where modern music begins?
Didn't know Conan O'brien was an amazing pianist!
