About this video: In todays video we will take advantage of a 64F February day to inspect all of the hives in the home bee yard. Sadly, a couple of hives didn't make it :-(
This Channel:
Although this beekeeping channel is primarily about beekeeping I am also a quasi pepper who believes in becoming self-sufficient. With that in mind, I have started a garden, planted fruit trees, replaced the hedges in front of my house with blueberry bushes, and have recently built a chicken coop. In short, I will share a lot more than beekeeping on this channel.
A little about me:
I am a person who believes you are never to old to learn something. Be it beekeeping, farming, raising chickens, painting, filming and editing video, making wine, beer, bread, cheese, and other fermentation consumables, play guitar etc... If I see something I want to try I start it immediately. If there is one thing I could choose to pass along to my children this would be it. Never be afraid to try. My wife famously told me once that if you are not willing to be bad at something, you will never be good at it. I am bad at quite a few things.
I hope you find my beekeeping videos fun and entertaining as well as get something out of them. I hope I inspire someone to get out and try something new. If you do enjoy my videos, please take a moment to spread the word about this channel and help it, and myself, grow. Have a great day and BEE Happy!

You are getting more and more efficient in finding the queens❤
Good to see that your all the alive colonies are doing good
Thanks, I am trying.
Glad your bees are doing good. 3 dead is a wonderful number I lost 14 I had 48 so I will rebuild the numbers when ever it gets going here. Our pollen just started this past week. I am so much looking forward in doing inspections again. Hope u have a blessed week.
Well..... Three so far. I have yet to check the farm yard. I m ay have losses over there too. We had a couple of weeks with temps in the teens which wiped out a few colonies. My fingers are crossed that all of the girls at the farm are in good shape.
Did heating your hives keep the number of bees larger than a none heated colony? I forgot your final thoughts on the subject. 🤔
Yes. The bees came out of winter very strong.
I been going through mine also, been moving my brood down and putting food and empty frames above. Gives me a little time before splitting . Good luck this spring my friend.
Thank you. I will need all of the luck I can get. I want to do the splits and expand the apiary while still maintaining a good harvest. I have my work cut out for me this year.
Why are you moving away from the Barns?
Enjoy your videos, sure wish I could spot the queens like you do.
I am focusing my operation on honey production which requires me to standardize my equipment.
👍🏼👍🏼
Whats happenen. Taaaannnnkkkkkssssss IIInnnnnnnn SSpppaaccceeeeeeeeee
I am a bit surprised that with the second (purple) bee barn you didn't release the queen in the top box above a queen excluder as that would make the migration away from that bee barn at least a lot simpler
I will do that tomorrow when I put the pollen patties on the hives :-)
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ZZZZZZZZzzZzzzzz 30 min in they were talking weren't they! Mad bees😅 sorry to see the losses atleast you have the spare equipment and drawn comb. I was going to share my losses as well some day lol. Thanks friend
I am sorry I put you to sleep. I know it was a long video but I tried to keep it hoppin. :-)
@BugFarmerBees no no no I was buzzing like the bees
Drunk snails

Just watched a Video where they were saying the Commercial beekeepers are taking huge colony loses. (inside the Hive TV)
I don't know if I believe that or not. I am not really a fan of Inside the hive. I think it's all AI generated.
Where did you get those gloves?
Apis Tactical. They are awesome.
Them Bee barns don’t impress me
They are a fantastic hive for the backyard beekeeper but when production matters it is important to have all interchangeable equipment and they just don't fit into my work process anymore.
Lol, "the bees don't know me"? Joking right?
Actually, no. I have read several research articles showing that bees actually have a memory and can remember faces for several weeks. So as long as I get into my hives every couple of weeks the majority of the bees understand I am not a threat to the colony and will likely not attack me. After a winter in a box without see me, their keeper, I am quickly identified as a threat because none of the guards have ever seen me and have no idea if I am a threat or not.
