When you sell your product The "harvest income" appears as normal on top right underneath your bank balance....then a secondary message comes up "environmental score" with a cash value amount added to your bank balance. The higher your environmental score is for your farm the better the cash bonus on that particular load.
I think the ploughing effects the yield like in base game and requires you to plough after every few harvests. But then with precision farming, when ploughing is not required, if you do it will affect the tillage.
Oh my!!!! Too much info for me. You explain things very well but for a newbie like myself, this is overwhelming. Love the video but I think I'll pass on using Precision Farming for now. I appreciate all the wonderful instructions though. I will be saving these videos (like I save all your videos) so that if I ever decide to get brave and give it a go, I'll have the steps to learn from. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into these instructional videos. Hugs to all.
Thank you so much 🙏 for your time. I absolutely love your videos for many reasons, I needed this before I get home and play. You are the best sir. In case I didn’t say so already, Thank you very much. Have another great day
This is definitely an interesting and exciting addition to Farm Sim for me and I really appreciate you going through it like this, MrSealyP! I do still have questions but skimming through the comments has answered some in ways that I suspected would be the case. Seems like part of it especially with the environmental score is going to be a long term thing, the more times you harvest and turn over a field the more data is generated. Weeds and ploughing are likely the same, ploughing according to base game prevents weeds so I wonder if constant ploughing will affect your overall score and weed generation where as periodic for the yield bonus is ok because it's refreshing the soil and clears out the weeds. And the same with weeds, if you done "pretreat" the field in some way you'll probably get weeds but in patches like FS19 seasons rather than the basegame full field. I'm looking forward to tinkering with this tonight after work!
When selecting a field for purchase with Precision DLC activated, the field provides a general overview of soil percentages and potential yield. [Map screen (first category, L3, R3) on PS5] This allows proper evaluation regarding value for acreage prior to buying the land.
Fair play, the time it must have taken to pull both part 1 and 2 together in terms of the info and how it all interacts with each other makes my head hurt. Well done mr sealy p on making it and making it so it’s clear and concise. 👍😎
I'd encourage everyone to read all the articles FULLY that GIANTS released. Some of the things appear to need you to harvest to update. I'll add that some things GIANTS have said in posts contradict one another. It says plowing can be worse for weeds somewhere, but as far as I know plowing prevents weeds according to how the game works (based on tutorial page on website)
Yeah you have to weigh the benefits of plowing and having no weeds grow vs. not plowing and having to spray herbicide or use a weeder. The benefit of having a higher score not plowing may (likely) outweigh the herbicide costs.
This was definitely my thoughts. He kept saying that maybe Giants needs to update the mod, when it is working exactly how they explained it would. In my opinion, he is doing a disservice to the community by not reading everything that Giants have provided before making "A guide to..." video.
Thanks very much MrSealyp for this 2nd part video of info sharing about the new Precision Farming. Thanks for the time/trouble you put into this for us. Lots of helpful/useful/informative details you’ve provided. Much appreciated! :-)
pretty sure you have to harvest to get changes to take effect i remember someoe saying that in another video would be awesome to see 3rd video lol these 2 videos were great tho awesome job best testing ive seen so far for this really appreciate it :)
Just did an hour of testing whether Oilseed Radish cultivation gives Nitrogen uptick in Precision Farming just as your digestate did and sadly the answer is no as far as I can tell.
Did read through the comments and didn’t see anyone ask about it. Catch crops and what affect that may have, have been using them in my play through so wondering if that will act in the same manner. You do awesome work, thank you for your time. You have been my go to for all info fs22.
I wonder if the PH value is staying at around halfway as that’s 7.5 which is neutral rather than being too acidic? Also curious if you need to totally cycle a field to get the score updated. Also with the nitrogen, you mention wanting it to be in the green, that only applies to certain crop types, some don’t need a high amount of nitrogen which is why you should seed before spray/solid fertilising or you could over fertilise. (Haven’t tried in this version, but on fs19 if you sprayed before planting it automatically applied the full fert rate which would damage your environmental score now for certain crop types if it was too much fertiliser)
I was thinking the same in regards to ph levels. I guess if you over apply you get a negative environment score and under applying may give a better environment score as you are using less product
I noticed in my first planting with a direct drill that fertilizes at the same time that it automatically puts down the optimal amount of fertilizer for whatever you're planting so there's no need to go back over it with a spreader/sprayer the next month/growth stage
Also when plowing you use more diesel than normal. That is counted in to this. Using more diesel when plowing so your score will never be highest on that field if you plowed. Precision farming is awesome. The yield is crazy if compared to normal, if you do it right. No farmer in real life have a enviroment 100% farm after first year. You must work on it. Continue with process and score will go up.
I did notice in your menu that you have seasons off, also do another test(if you can find the time) on bog standard settings and make a note of actual crop yields in the trailer just to prove that precision farming is just a big faff about.i think it might be. Great work mate all the same, you have put some work in on this👏
Brilliant job as always MrSealyP 👍 ... As regards you not getting any weeds in you're #2 test field it's because you plowed it. You won't get weeds for the 1st crop / harvest cycle... Also I wonder would the missing percentage be due to not having bee hives placed?... Keep up the great work 👍
I think it's just necessary ploughing that causes the environmental score to change, where as necessary ploughing as no impact at all. Like if you're running wheat and plough after every harvest to prevent weeds like i do then it'll drop. But the reason ploughing is bad irl is due to soil erosion issues as regularly ripping it up can speed up the erosion process by loosing the soil up a lot. and with weeds it's that won't grow on the surface of soil but the seeds tend to get washed away and end growing else where same with mechanical weeders , where as using spot spray herbicide kills them with minimal herbice being used to seep into the ground and it kills the weeds.
On the environmental score window for the entire farm, it says “your environmental score increases your sell prices by 4%” I really wonder if this actually works as a rule on all maps under every condition. Even if it does 4% is kind of “not enough incentive” for that much additional calculation and work. But it is quite a lot fun in my opinion
I remember clarkson getting top dollar for his crop, more to due with moisture content. A yield bonus is a yield bonus.. it’s basically free money. All the little things add up.. I hope that there is further things added to PF, but going with what happened in fs19.. I doubt it.. perhaps in the next nextgen only FS..
plowing and cultivating and slurry before plowing changes the ph balence of the field, and than liming the field again might have made the nitrogen to high for the plowed field that has wheat. In real life wheat does better in no plowed fields, so they will often grow something that will leave behind something that can be mulched into the field, this should also change the ph level, also light cultivating can also be good for wheat too. I bet if you plow, grow sorgum because it only takes off the top part mulch the rest of the surgon after harvest shallow cultivate, and plant wheat, than roll your fields your get a higher Environmental score. However plowing does reduce weeds because you are pulling the roots up of weeds to when turning the dirt. Ideally you will want to get a soil sample after you plow, though because turning the dirt may change your soil type consistency.
Be cool if they added soil compaction and soil erosion levels. For example more tilling or the way you till and equipment used can increase or decrease soil compaction/soil erosion. And addition in the mod hub for "strip" tillers would be cool
Just a question... what order do you all plant fields, I normally do the following Plow, Lime, Fertiliser, Seeding and then Roll. I don't use digestate
Thank you for the in depth first look. I will give PF a try on a small map, maybe on Frühling, inspired by your let's play, only use small machinery. Apart from that I thing it was released too early. On FS19 PF was released when? After 2/3 of the game's life circle maybe? At that point it added something new. Now on FS22 we are just at the start of the lige circle. That is the reason for my decision to start small and later, when I want to add something new, I will activate it on my "standard" safe files
What you said toward the end about using more fuel (And adding PF to map you had to spray or weed whole feild rather than in patches) for those two fields is exactly right! You did more on the fields thus using more fuel so the Evironmental score is lower! Now next time when you seed you shouldn't have to lime it since it wheat and if you dont need to fertilize as much or so fourth your Evironmental score will go up since using less fuel and resources. Oh and also I don't believe you used the sensors on the tractor so you didn't get full control of spraying for weeds.
he did use sensors on tractor both types of sensors actually, i wonder about what you metioned tho about fuel having effect on score would that also apply with electric tractor? it shouldnt but would be good to know although it probally couldnt pull the fert spreader anyways
@@TakenCypress369 Yes he did use the sensors on the sprayer but you also need the sensors on the tractor mirrors or the front JD sensor when spraying fertilizer and it is mentioned in the precision help menu that it best to fertilize after the crops are in first growth stage to get full credit. Also most sprayers don't have a HP requirement so the Electric tractors should pull it just fine and that is a good a question if it counts that as using no fuel?
PF in 2019 gave you a yield score on the field before you purcahsed iirc, you could tell what type of soil it primarily was from that before purchasing.
Still watching this so it might be answered later, just thoughts as I watch... Ploughing hasn't had a negative effect... But a number of Farming Simulator players like to plough after every harvest. If you seeded, took all the steps through to harvesting, and then ploughed again before the next crop when the field info isn't mentioning it, would THAT have a negative effect? I mean, they said ploughing is bad, but I think they mean excessive, like only do it when you have to type of thing. Also, if that's so, how would that effect crops that require ploughing after each harvest like corn? Is it just ploughing or would subsoiling be effected too, seeing as every type of field prep was separated in FS22? This is bringing up questions, and I think more testing is needed to see the ins and outs.
Field soil type Yes- you won't know until you test the field, however on FS19 when you viewed fields in the map when Precision farming is installed, it showed a % yield potential figure. This was clearly based on soil type - the ones that were 120% yield potential had better soil. Do you happen to know if FS22 does this too?
How hard would it be for giants to make a simple update where you can turn a field into a real production. You can add cows onto a grass field and add feeding/bedding points, the cows add a fertiliser state to the grass and you can then mow the grass to use for the cows or whatever else you like. Would be so good and I really don't think it would take a lot for them to do
Don't focus on the environmental score so much. It's bonus yield supplements the games base yield bonus. So if you don't plow you will take a 15% base game penalty, if you don't mulch you'll take another penalty and so on. The maximum yield bonus you can get from an environmental score of 100% is 15%. By not plowing you wipe out that 15% bonus. You made up some of the difference because of the soil types and their bonuses. Make sense??
yeah the environmental score bonus yield seems a bit low considering all the work that goes into getting it. its like, for 15% you can plow, OR, you can weed, fertilize, lime, and correctly till, and then u get 15%
if u plough, there won't be any weeds. if u cultivate, there will be 50% weeds. if u use the shallow cultivator, u will get 100% weeds. if u want to use the weeder, u have to use it at the first growing stage of the weed. otherwise, there is only one hoe, u have to use that. if the weed is big, the herbicide is the only option. but, before, if we applied herbicide, we used to get 15% less yield. not sure what happens now.
weeds won't show on the map until it is level 2. but, most of the time if the weed is showing, u might need to use the hoe. this weeder won't be able to remove all the weeds.
But cultivating also give a negative score. With the extra fuel used. But a direct drill, also cultivates. And what if I use an E-tractor. This whole thing doesn't make sense.
if your plowing then clutivating then seeding yeh your using 3 times the fuel going up an down the feild where as direct drill 1 pass not that hard to understand, i think its kinda stupid to punish us for using plow or cultivator i hate direct drill seeders id rather run plow an cultivator an seeder seperatly and i like small equipment more so theres no options for direct drill thats 100 hp also if i was to use direct drill seeder i have 3-4 options for equipment instead of like 50+ probally 100+ actually with mods i have so many plows an cultivators an seeders to choose from most of which i now shouldnt use if i want to play with pf.
I am very curious how this all works on fields you plowed into existence yourself (such as on No Man's Land). In other words does this only work for map predefined farms or will it work (obviously would have to do my own sampling) on fields I created myself?
If it’s anything like fs19 it works on any kind of field. The soil map goes under the whole map, not just existing fields. I’m not sure if you would even have to do your own sampling as it used to recognise the size of the field, rather than the plot of land it was on so may work with buying a map too.
I'm still waiting to apply the hotfix because I'm on PC and the patch broke my game, but I found a Giants forum post that says grass rolling and oilseed radish have no effect when you're using precision farming. With the base game, each of these will provide a fertilizer state, but with PF, they do not improve the soil at all.
I’m wondering why after I do my soil samples, it still has the option at the bottom to purchase soil information. I find that strange. You did a great job of explaining things in the first video and this one as well. Ty Sealyp it’s a lot to get your head around.
Probably because you need to resample once in a while, if my information is correct. The game gives a panel with outdated data under PH. That might be connected to eachother?
Ok... I think the problem might be that you are trying to maximise both the environmental and yield aspects, but sometimes, what's good for a yield isn't what's good for the environment, and vice versa. Your top map with sunflowers is at a 72 rating, but it's had very little work done in it because yoi bought it with a crop already in. You might find that score go down after harvesting and working the field, but your yield will go up. It might be a case of finding a balance between the 2 aspects. Look at organic farming: great for the environment, but not so good when it comes to yields. I wonder what would happen to the environmental score if you left a field fallow a year or two...
shouldnt none of charts or rates apply to grass an most those tasks werent required before for grass good question tho ill defiantly find out tonight when i mow grass lol
I'm still waiting to apply the hotfix because I'm on PC and the patch broke my game, but I found a Giants forum post that says grass rolling and oilseed radish have no effect when you're using precision farming.
They don’t need an update. In fs19 there was a ‘standard’ soil type map included for all maps, modders can change it to suit their maps if they want to. I assume this is the same for fs22.
Still looking to see what it will do with a savegame. In FS19, it reset all the fields in my savegame to zero fertilizer state, which actually de-buffed the yield so much that I couldn't finish any harvesting contracts.
Herbicides are indeed very bad ! I guess that's why they are using spot spraying......it's a improvement but I still go for Organic vegetables and fruits in the store..... strange isn't it non healthy food very cheap ..... healthy food practicality unaffordable.... if I could give anyone one advice on this watch The Biggest little farm great video Mrsealyp thanks for the information 👍
It's a DLC that shows up in the Gameplay section of ModHub. You don't have to install it, and if you do, you can select or de-select the mod when you start a game. So, not only is it optional, you can run different saves with some enabled and others not enabled.
I would image this download would be a marmite situation you either love it or hate it, for me its not something I am interested in at this time I have far to much to do as is working the fields without the major flaff of PF , by the time I have gone through all the ins and out most of my other crops would have withered!!!
I haven't heard that it does. In FS19, a mod by Realismus called "Seasons" was a big overhaul of a lot of game mechanics, including crop rotation bonuses. FS22 incorporated seasonal cycles into the base game, and there were some tweaks around some other Seasons features, like animal aging. But crop rotation was not a new FS22 base game feature and Realismus hasn't released the FS22 version of their overhaul yet.
On the Ph map, greener is generally better. Yellow is sub-optimal; red is bad. Gradually, year after year, you'll see more yellow as the soil becomes more acidic. Depending on money and time, you can decide how often to add lime. If you're using the variable application rate feature on the lime spreader, it will add exactly the right amount of lime to get the perfect Ph for the soil type. Because you seed after you lime, I don't think the optimal Ph level varies per crop type like the nitrogen target does. There might be some variance on whether some crops cause more acidity for the next year, but I doubt it. Field info will tell you more detail, but the color on the map is enough to decide at a glance whether it's time to lime.
Not me, I'm on NML and update worked just fine. Perhaps there's another mod you're using too that's conflicting with the update + NML? I'm not sure. Maybe try loading your save with only the map mod and precision farming, and nothing else, and see if there's still an issue? (but DON'T save in that state, obviously :P)
does it not have to advance in time before there is a change in the scores to give it time to register what has been done, I can't see it being automatic it isn't automatic for soil samples, you take and submit the samples and then have to wait for the results so it should be the same for everything you do in the field
Had a dabble with PF for about an hour and then turned it off. After watching your in-depth videos I clearly made the right decision. I may go back to it at some point, but I doubt it. Didn’t like it on FS19 either. It’s probably more to do with me currently having the attention span of a gnat than an issue with the DLC. It’s just not for me.
Alright Ive watch the whole thing and I dont think Im gonna install this mess. Variable spray/seed rates would be nice to have but I aint doing it for some artificial enviorment score and 4% cost bump lol
30 points for spraying Roundup or Agent Orange and 20 for not? I don't think having spray chemicals on crops should be being promoted. WTF are Monsanto sponsering Precision Farming? It seems like more filler, like rolling and mulching, but with a huge drop in yield. Just my 2 cents. Thanks PealyC
In real life farming, there are only so many harvests left in the soil if practices aren’t changed, how many fields have very low hedges around them if hedges at all.. where before there stood trees around them.. and dropping leaves to fertilise the soil.. too much chemicals used..
When you sell your product

So, it's working correctly?

If you seeded, took all the steps through to harvesting, and then ploughed again before the next crop when the field info isn't mentioning it, would THAT have a negative effect? I mean, they said ploughing is bad, but I think they mean excessive, like only do it when you have to type of thing. Also, if that's so, how would that effect crops that require ploughing after each harvest like corn? Is it just ploughing or would subsoiling be effected too, seeing as every type of field prep was separated in FS22?
This is bringing up questions, and I think more testing is needed to see the ins and outs.
If you plow you don't get weeds and the initial weeds you can't see are the same without precision farming being on.
Mrsealyp, another great guide you put together here. Question, do you have any plans to do a pumps n hose guide or in any play throughs coming up?
Field soil type
Yes- you won't know until you test the field, however on FS19 when you viewed fields in the map when Precision farming is installed, it showed a % yield potential figure. This was clearly based on soil type - the ones that were 120% yield potential had better soil. Do you happen to know if FS22 does this too?
thank you for the 2nd video MrSealyp as usual
Make sense??
yeah the environmental score bonus yield seems a bit low considering all the work that goes into getting it. its like, for 15% you can plow, OR, you can weed, fertilize, lime, and correctly till, and then u get 15%
Hi mr SealyP. Base game you don’t get weeds when you plough. Just wondered if you spreadestate or manure etc a second time
Excellent vid as always.... But I can't be the only one who gets a headache from precision farming lol... :o))
if u plough, there won't be any weeds. if u cultivate, there will be 50% weeds. if u use the shallow cultivator, u will get 100% weeds. if u want to use the weeder, u have to use it at the first growing stage of the weed. otherwise, there is only one hoe, u have to use that. if the weed is big, the herbicide is the only option. but, before, if we applied herbicide, we used to get 15% less yield. not sure what happens now.
weeds won't show on the map until it is level 2. but, most of the time if the weed is showing, u might need to use the hoe. this weeder won't be able to remove all the weeds.
A great second guide video, this is definitely a mind melter 🤪
When you plow a field you don't get any weed growth that's been standard in fs22 from the start
Thanks for your hard work to inform us.
Top work buddy
Great work mr sealyp 👍🏻
I am very curious how this all works on fields you plowed into existence yourself (such as on No Man's Land). In other words does this only work for map predefined farms or will it work (obviously would have to do my own sampling) on fields I created myself?
If it’s anything like fs19 it works on any kind of field. The soil map goes under the whole map, not just existing fields. I’m not sure if you would even have to do your own sampling as it used to recognise the size of the field, rather than the plot of land it was on so may work with buying a map too.
Im on court farm mapon console. How do i get the precision farming information to come up?
Do I have to start a new game?
What about oil seed radish does that even play a part anymore? 🤔
Seems like it should give an environmental bonus, doesn't it?
I'm still waiting to apply the hotfix because I'm on PC and the patch broke my game, but I found a Giants forum post that says grass rolling and oilseed radish have no effect when you're using precision farming. With the base game, each of these will provide a fertilizer state, but with PF, they do not improve the soil at all.
WEEDS depend on how your settings are ... if you choose to not have seasons there will be no weeds
The base game self propelled sprayers have the nitrogen sensors for fertilising it seems but no option for see and spray
Watch ya header set up because yeild depends on it.
In reality Lime needs to be applied after ploughing so it reacts to the soil..Then it's cultivated in.
@@dionpeusen ok thank you. I had forgotten about having to re take samples.
Awesome!
I wonder what would happen to the environmental score if you left a field fallow a year or two...
i wonder about grass work. does rolling affect nitrogen and do i need to lime a grass field?
shouldnt none of charts or rates apply to grass an most those tasks werent required before for grass good question tho ill defiantly find out tonight when i mow grass lol

If you turn off the Periodic Plowing in menu and after soil samples it does not appear on the field info
? Did plowing ‐ come into effect due to no weed to spray so no 30% bonus for spot spraying??
Do modmaps need an update for Precision Farming? Or will they work, regardless? And can u start from a savegame?
They don’t need an update. In fs19 there was a ‘standard’ soil type map included for all maps, modders can change it to suit their maps if they want to. I assume this is the same for fs22.
Still looking to see what it will do with a savegame. In FS19, it reset all the fields in my savegame to zero fertilizer state, which actually de-buffed the yield so much that I couldn't finish any harvesting contracts.
You should list the map you’re using, in the description.
Harvest both fields to see your environmental score
Must do part 3 with the harvest or else it’s incomplete
Since the last update there is a problem with the production chain again
Does this work on the mod maps?
I think for PH and NI it going to take a full year to take affect.
Herbicides are indeed very bad ! I guess that's why they are using spot spraying......it's a improvement but I still go for Organic vegetables and fruits in the store..... strange isn't it non healthy food very cheap ..... healthy food practicality unaffordable.... if I could give anyone one advice on this watch The Biggest little farm great video Mrsealyp thanks for the information 👍
is this precision farming is it something we have to do , or is that optional in the game
It's a DLC that shows up in the Gameplay section of ModHub. You don't have to install it, and if you do, you can select or de-select the mod when you start a game. So, not only is it optional, you can run different saves with some enabled and others not enabled.
@@jimuicker4731 okay sounds good thank you, now was there a new update , I play this on xbox one s
@@tinkerstar40 Yes, the base game also has an update to version 1.4 yesterday.
@@jimuicker4731 thank you for your help :)
I would image this download would be a marmite situation you either love it or hate it, for me its not something I am interested in at this time I have far to much to do as is working the fields without the major flaff of PF , by the time I have gone through all the ins and out most of my other crops would have withered!!!
Mrsealyp could you tell me what map you used for precision farming please
Looks like Haut Beyleron to me.
@@raspingrabbit2379 thank you for that will have a look at that one. I think that is one of the base maps
@@paulbaxter7675 yes it is 👍🏼
How does this affect contracts?
very good question havnt found any info either but let you know if i find something
I would say plowing needs to be turned off when using Precision Farming
Nope not true cuz you still need to plow after Sugar beets, potatoes or corn.
Nitrogen refers to the fertiliser and lime stuff right?
Nitrogen is fertiliser. Ph level is lime.
@@raspingrabbit2379 awsome cheers bud! Lots of info to try get my head around...
Maybe it gets better each year
does anyone know if crop rotation has any effect in the game?
I haven't heard that it does. In FS19, a mod by Realismus called "Seasons" was a big overhaul of a lot of game mechanics, including crop rotation bonuses. FS22 incorporated seasonal cycles into the base game, and there were some tweaks around some other Seasons features, like animal aging. But crop rotation was not a new FS22 base game feature and Realismus hasn't released the FS22 version of their overhaul yet.
@@jimuicker4731 according to one of the Realismus team they are busy working on other projects and at the moment aren’t planning anything.
@@raspingrabbit2379 Bummer. Wanted their pig farming back.
You are trying to link yield to environmental score. Surely they are two different things.
I’m confused how you know to put lime down so if it’s green it needs lime I’m lost
The field info pop up will tell you the ph value and if it’s bad or not, but close to green on the menu screen is a good indication that it’s ok.
Update made me loose no mans land for 2nd time... 670hrs lost... Anyone else have issues like this
Not me, I'm on NML and update worked just fine. Perhaps there's another mod you're using too that's conflicting with the update + NML? I'm not sure. Maybe try loading your save with only the map mod and precision farming, and nothing else, and see if there's still an issue? (but DON'T save in that state, obviously :P)
what map is this
Haut Beyleron
Mentioning weeds I have found if you plow u tend not to weeds , think that's a video in it's self lol
When Plowing you don't get weeds
Nice video mate you may off noticed but under the environment score in small print it says sell price goes up by a certain percentage
Weeding works when weeds are visible . ..like in real life, can't weed if you don't see them.
does it not have to advance in time before there is a change in the scores to give it time to register what has been done, I can't see it being automatic it isn't automatic for soil samples, you take and submit the samples and then have to wait for the results so it should be the same for everything you do in the field
maybe because other changes are instant so hes wondering why some appear right away while others dont
You plowed the field…plow and no weeds usually
In reality you plow to bury weed seeds. Not sure how I feel about this environmental score yet, alot of this makes no sense. 🤔
