    YESSSS!!
    I thought I was 1 of few "strange" people that wanted a hook @ the back.
    I like it because of my experience with trout "nibbling" at the tails of wooly buggers etc.
    Great video m8!

      Nice one, I’m not the only one too 😉 keep the hook as small as possible so it doesn’t kill the swimming action 👍 thank you !

    I have been looking at different game changers but most have the trailer hook in the middle of the body. I think that does not help with the swimming action. I really like how you use a small hook right at the back. I am sure that will make it swim and kick very well. I have various FTD materials and will make a brush from Big Game Hair and Crystal hair and give this a try. Thank you for sharing all your great tying videos. Happy new year.

      Many thanks! The small hook does slow down its movement but that’s why I go for a small but solid hook. I use mostly ftd materials and always been very happy with the quality for a very honest price. Happy new year to you too !

    Awesome video, explains a lot.
    I started playing with game changers (making my own sections) and brushes for last few weeks since this corona craze locked us at home. Tried with kanekalon, but it falls off from the brush easily. Do you use some kind of glue before twisting the brushes? Maybe i should use thinner wire. How thick is the wire you use for brushes?
    I saw water silk in the end of your video that you use for the head of streamer (it resembles some fish fur material that I have) , is it softer than kongo hair? How stiff and thick kongo hair is compared to kanekalon?
    Sorry because I'm a bit boring with all this questions. :P

      hey Jobaht, sorry for the late reply, only after seeing this now.. for the hairs not to fall off, use a wire that's not too thick, i use 0.2mm and don't over charge with fibers, its all about balance.If you want rub a little stick glue on the wire to hold the fibres, it can helps a lot when you begin making your own brushes.water silk is very fine, then congo and kanekalon would be the stiffest of the three .

      @JOBAHT 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NorbertRenaud thanks for the response. I'll try ro find some 0,2 mm steel wire because I was using copper wire and I think one of the problems is because it's too soft.

    What about "Frantic Tails"? Thanks for this video. I'm just starting to tie big pike and musky flies this fall and winter - I'm used to tying trout flies...

      Nicole Lewis hey, thanks Nicole! I find wiggle or frantic tails acts like a break on your gamechanger. They won’t have the same action in the waters 😉

    Hi there. Are there certain fibers that you prefer for game changers? I tied one with congo hair and it Swam sideways 😭

    • @NorbertRenaud
      @NorbertRenaud  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, I started tying them with mixing home made brushes made out of Congo/Kanekalon and angelina fibres. But now I really like the ones with belly hair and I’m smaller sizes polar fibres or craft fur . Gc flies are all about getting proportions right to get them to swim good, one usual mistake I see is people overloading them with too much fibres or hairs. Hope that helps, keep fine tuning them you will get them to swim properly. I have a video showing how to tie the ones with belly hair on the channel too👍
