- General Motors has recently been spotted testing several prototypes of the highly anticipated Zora model at the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife racetrack. Enthusiasts are eager to learn more about this powerful hybrid, and during the testing sessions, photographers captured four different Zora prototypes. Each was heavily camouflaged but still displayed unique styling elements that are reminiscent of the Corvette ZR1. Among the most notable features were the large rear wings, which resemble the ZR1 ZTK package, along with low-profile tires and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Despite the similarities to the ZR1, the yellow hybrid sticker on the rear windows was a clear indicator that the Zora will include hybrid technology. This is expected to be a combination of a front-mounted electric motor paired with a powerful V8 engine. Much like the Corvette E-Ray, the Zora is expected to house its battery pack in the central tunnel. The battery cells, supplied by LG, will deliver around 1.9 kilowatt hours of power, with 1.1 kilowatt hours usable by the electric motor.
The electric motor will significantly enhance the vehicle’s acceleration, likely reducing the zero to sixty time by about half a second. For comparison, the Corvette E-Ray manages to hit sixty miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds, while the standard Stingray takes 3.0 seconds.
In terms of power, the electric motor will produce up to 160 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque. Combined with the LT7 twin-turbo V8 engine, which is rumored to make 1,064 horsepower, the Zora could push over 1,200 horsepower in total. Set to debut in late 2025 as a 2026 model, the Zora is expected to weigh over 4,000 pounds due to its hybrid components but will likely retain the overall design language of the current C8 Corvette.

I love the combination of a monster car with another drive system added to make it more of a monster!
Glad they’re throwing all the power at it. No one’s ever cared about how well a Bugatti corners, right? 😅
It’s usually hard to gauge how fast a car is around a track from videos, but I can actually tell that this thing is seriously fast, or just good at looking like it’s faster than a lot of fast cars. (GTD)
The Zora will put the GTD to shame.
@@JamesSpencer-f7u ZR1 already out powers GTD.
@@gerogyzurkov2259 True.
True prob because of the added weight just like the Z06 is quicker around the track than the Eray! But my guess the straight line speed will be insane and 0-60 might be around 2 sec!
Won't corner as well as the ZR1. Will be monster in the Straights. With Corvette C8 GM is really pushing the Corvette this gen.
It has 1000hp going to the rear tires😂 it'll corner better than the ZR1
@@aaronvector4750 It will weigh near 2 tonnes. ZR1 should weigh 200kg less.
*All of GMs' High Performance cars (CTS V, CT5 V, ZR1, Z06, ZL1, Hell even the StingRay) can "corner" all tracks with no issues. GM do not make High Performance cars for the "straights"... Corvettes, Camaros, and Cadillacs has been winning all types of Championships in different Racing Series for years on tracks with "corners"... You a know it all huh? This Corvette is going to be a Beast on Tracks with corners!*
Could that be a hybrid ZR1 ?
It is.
That is exactly what it is lol
Wait wait wait so is it actually a hybrid zr1 or the zora but you guys are calling it a hybrid zr1 because that’s what the zora expected to be
