I can relate before like someone told me every shoe who was air in its name has air cushioning i thought that is just name because like there are t shirts with air branding but they don't have air units in em
One of the most slept on running sneakers in Nike’s archives. I got my first pair of Tailwinds in the ‘80s and I have to say that they were some of the most comfortable sneakers that I wore at the time. Fast forward to Nike’s ACG Lava Dome (Lows/1988) that borrowed a lot of cues from the Tailwind.
the Tailwind IV was the best looking one for streetwear. The OG Tailwind was pretty good running shoe. I remember it was ground breaking when it came out.
The first version is the best, it's stripped to the bone, minimalist design with a beautiful silhouette, you can't add or remove anything form that design - it's a classic.
Been here since the channel had only 500 subs and I HAVE to say how proud I am of you guys. You’ve come so far already and can’t wait to see more of you guys amazing content keep up the good work!
Karhu had the first air cushioned sole before Nike did. They had the Karhu Air Cushion system which had air in the heel and the arch support. It was in a sneaker called the ChampionAir that came out in 1977.
Reminds me of the NB 420. Ultra old-school, dad, moustache-headband-tucked in singlet top-pulled up socks-gym junkie/jogger shoe of the 1970s. The Dunlop KT26 reminds me of those times, and I have a pair of them hahaha.
I had a pair of the Tailwind 96's when they came out. Pity the midsole crumbled..... Got the 'stranger things' retro earlier this year. But that grey/blue original colourway looks great!
Steve Boge Ohh I really dig those stranger things ones. Bummer to hear about your 96s’ crumbling. Thanks for watching and the thoughtful comment Steve 👍
Great video as always. What I do find ironic is that although air technology was originally developed for running, Nike no longer uses it in its running shoes.
Would like to see a new video regarding on the history of Zoom Air! That technology is really beneficial to alot of runners and sports athletes, case in point the Pegasus series!
It would be nice to see some Adidas Supercourt history! Or maybe some Gazelle history! Just to balance things a little bit😉 haha Greetings from Mexico city!
You should do a video on Karhu, I believe they actually beat Nike to the punch with Air Cushion tech in 1976 with the Champion. Still making some cool stuff too. Cheers!
When i read Shoe Dog of Phil Knight, he said that it was a crazy idea. Marion Frank Rudy was such an imaginative person 😮🤟. This video is still good and informative but it would be much better if there were English subtitle because TH-cam's subtitle is wrong sometimes.
Nhân Vlog ông there is English subtitles 😎 I paid for them actually. Double check when selecting the captions. And yeah man I really want to read Shoe Dog. It’s next on my reading list

Damn I was so happy when this shoe finally came back. I am 100% sure that Tailwind 79 is the most comfortable sneaker on the market. Also what a good looking casual shoe! In my opinion Tailwind 79 is the most important and best sneaker in history.
Had those 78s in 86...7th grade with a yellow cotton fleece jog suit the jog pants had the sleeve type bottoms like today's sweats back then it was more gathered elastic. That outfit bought out the shoes I was the flyest thing poppin in the 7th grade that day.
@@NachoAverageFinds I don't know but if had to ask them probably the cushions before modern day who started using eva foam first what was kinda the thing abou it I know you specialize on shoe models but that would be something different
The tailwind 4s really are soooo comfortable. I have the all black colour way for work and after 10 hours my feet don’t hurt at all. Definitely cop them if you can
Damm, the 92's Tailwinds was my first pair of Nike shoes with air max unit and a first step to sneaker culture... Awesome piece of shoe! You're 100% right that they were bulky, but suprisingly lightweight. I just wore them for couple of years to complete destruction. They're in white/neon yellow/blue. Right now im so sad that I had to throw them away cause of over use, cause they are really hard to buy nowadays...
@@NachoAverageFinds Yea, they were $119.99 add tax around $130, $129.40 😀 Yea man someone actually stole them from my gym locker, those shoes were serious

Henry Orellana Thanks Henry! Yeah man, the first shoe with Air tech 😎
you can't tell from the name ? Nike AIR Tailwind ?
