Glad it work now . I just released a new one where I'm using the option of connecting to the web with the basic option. Though it is in Power BI, the same will work for Excel.
Thank Janet. One thing I found once you connect Kobo to Excel, you can then use power queries to for your data transformation, shaping and calculation. a simple click on the refresh button then you've got everything updated.
Thank you so much for the video, one question please. Once how can i update my datas in Kobo? Am not saying adding new records, but modifying existing ones. Can Excel do this for me? Thanks
Thanks for your video, it was really helpful for me. One question though, Is there a way I can display the pictures(media) in Excel instead of downloading the Zip file from KoBo? Thanks once again.
Hola! Disculpa, quería preguntar: a la hora de escribir la URL copiada desde word a Excel, me dice que no se encuentra la página web Sabes como se puede resolver esto?
Hi Nael; thank you so much for this video. Very much appreciated. Please, I have used this procedure. But it connecting me to the names and not to labels of my variables. This makes data analysis and visualisation more complicated. Your help please. thank you again.
Thanks for your video, it was really helpful for me. One question though, the file pulled into Excel is displaying the KoBo XLS form names column instead of the labels (which contains the names I am interested in). Is there a way I can display the label in Excel instead of the form column names from KoBo? Thanks once again.
Actually, I think the easiest way would hav been in Kobo to set the value with the value name. Alternatively, you could (in Excel) duplicate the variable (column) and use find/replace with the variable name.
check the extension of your file. Is it xls or xlsx. If the Excel file to be Imported has the extension '.xlsx', then this requires Excel drivers that are for 2007 and onwards. Please install the new Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 drivers.
The error "Web.Contents failed to get contents from the API" in Excel typically means that Excel was unable to retrieve data from the specified API endpoint. This error can occur due to several reasons, such as incorrect API endpoint URL, missing or incorrect authentication credentials, network connectivity issues, or an issue with the API itself. To solve this problem, you can try the following steps: 1) Verify that the API endpoint URL is correct and active. 2) Check if you have provided the correct authentication credentials, such as API key, OAuth token, etc. 3) Ensure that your network connection is stable and there are no firewalls blocking the connection. 4) Try to access the API endpoint using a web browser or other tools to confirm that the endpoint is working correctly. 5) If the issue persists, you may need to contact the API provider or your IT department for further assistance. It is also worth noting that some APIs have rate limits or other usage restrictions that may cause errors, so make sure to check the API documentation for any such restrictions. Hope this helps
This is a great video Neal, Thank you. I was able to connect Kobo to excel but it failed to refresh when new submissions were made from field. I have tried refreshing countless times but proved abortive. How can I solve this? thanks again
Thanks. I would also suggest you to take a look at the updated video that I made on that matter. in that one I'm showing how to do the same using your Kobo Account credential (i.e not making the project publicly available). th-cam.com/video/cRBfvqmejHM/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=AnalyzeIt
please i have followed the steps but this is the error im getting; This error (HTTP 404 Not Found) means that this program was able to connect to the website, but the page you wanted was not found. It's possible that the webpage is temporarily unavailable. Alternatively, the website might have changed or removed the webpage.
not sure why you are having this problem. Alternatively I would retry to connect to kobo with out have the dataset sharable mode. take a look at this video. th-cam.com/video/cRBfvqmejHM/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=AnalyzeIt
Kobo is mainly a tool use for mobile data collection and it is not for storage or warehouse data purpose. If you have your data already in and excel spreadsheet , that means the data have already been collected. So not sur why you want to put it in Kobo. But your question is still an interesting feature that I need to investigate. Will let you know. In the meantime you can post this question as well in kobo helpdesk
I just released a new version. The main difference is that you don't need to set kobo share option. Though it is for connecting to Power BI, it is the same process and it should work with Excel. th-cam.com/video/cRBfvqmejHM/w-d-xo.html
I tried based on your video review but the result is DataSource.Error: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. what wrong is it?

did you checkmark the shareable option in Kobo ?
@@AnalyzeIt_Nael Yes, I ticked both in Kobo but still can't connect
This problem usually happens when the computer is using the Proxy/VPN. Please disable the Proxy/VPN temporary and try again.
@@AnalyzeIt_Nael thanks let me try this way.
