This was amazing! Jacob, you are such a great interviewer! Adam, thank you for your example of searching for more light and truth and for bringing me along with you. I am so blessed to be your big sister.❤️
@ajboyle I'm headed to your channel to see if you have done a video on prayer. If you haven't, would you please consider doing a video on your experiences with prayer? Thanks. I appreciate your sharing of your experience. Thanks for your example of courage.
@JacobIsBell you are the snoopiest thing I know. Years back, when our family shit hit the fan, I was attending the temple two or three times a week. One time, I was crying uncontrollably. A temple worker tried to console me, but I wanted to be alone to ask God. She was relentless. As Adam said in his moment of tears, it was the Love of God. That is it. That is what I felt but could never put it in words. Thank you for the interview. Now I can check that question off.
Greater joy is only possible with greater suffering!! In the future we all may have no option but to do much more than 50 milers through the wilderness.
This was wonderful! Thank you. Is Dustin Grady still making videos? I tried to find the video mentioned on the Doctrine of Christ, but am not seeing it and it doesn't look like he's been posting the last 2 years.
1 john 5:13 you can know that you have, present tense, eternal life. Eternal life last I checked is eternal. Love you two as brothers in search of Jesus Christ.
My first time watching this podcast, I really enjoyed listening to Adam. The hosts constant interruptions were extremely annoying! He never really allowed him to finish any of the questions that he asked him. He seems like a great guy, but one of the most annoying interviews I’ve ever watched. Maybe somebody else needs to invite him on so he can tell all about himself? I know he was trying to be relatable, but it was very distracting. I would love to hear Adam‘s story, without the interruptions and in more detail where it’s been led by what he felt should share.
I was following the church on Twitter, and noticed that nearly every tweet (and associated link to church news articles) on their humanitarian donations referenced their partnership with the UN and UNICEF. I was paying attention because of all of the money I was giving to the church humanitarian fund. I talk about two great organizations that I give to in this video here: th-cam.com/video/fhDHy9KPWyk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=d0YlHulyZ3pReJFf
@@ajboyle I listened to a podcast on Ward Radio about the church’s involvement in relief in Papua New Guinea. It said the relief effort was grass roots with the church’s own people doing the work. If the church gives by using the UN, is it just that it’s a small amount that these efforts get to use? How can you tell how much money actually gets to people in need?
If the church is true ? You'll have no problems proving to him that he is wrong. And hey thanks for removing my comments and others . I made sure to write their names because the spirit of truth warned me to do so.
There was a note about the 4th AoF and whether Joseph taught "the first" principles and ordinances. He, in fact, did teach this many times. I also don't believe this denigrates the doctrine of Christ. Here are those quotes btw: “I will proceed to tell you what the Lord requires of all people, high and low, rich and poor, male and female, ministers and people, professors of religion and non-professors, in order that they may enjoy the Holy Spirit of God to a fullness, and escape the judgments of God, which are almost ready to burst upon the nations of the earth. Repent of all your sins, and be baptized in water for the remission of them, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, and receive the ordinance of the laying on of the hands of him who is ordained and sealed unto this power, that ye may receive the Holy Spirit of God; and this is according to the Holy Scriptures, and the Book of Mormon; and the only way that man can enter into the celestial kingdom. These are the requirements of the new covenant, or first principles of the Gospel of Christ . . .” (Joseph Smith, 4 January 1833, TPJS 16)
And here are a few more: “And now to show our doctrine on this subject, we shall commence with the first principles of the Gospel, which are faith, repentance, and baptism for the remission of sins, and the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of the hands.” (Joseph Smith, 1 September 1835, TPJS 81) “The speaker [Joseph Smith] then made some observations on the first principles of the Gospel, observing, that many of the Saints who had come from different states and nations had only a very superficial knowledge of these principles, not having heard them fully investigated. He then briefly stated the principles of faith, repentance, and baptism for the remission of sins, these were believed by some of the righteous societies of the day, but the doctrine of laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost was discarded by them.” (16 May 1841, TPJS 188) “Oh, ye elders of Israel, hearken to my voice; and when you are sent into the world to preach, tell those things you are sent to tell; preach and cry aloud, ‘Repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand; repent and believe the Gospel.’ Declare the first principles, and let mysteries alone, lest ye be overthrown. Never meddle with the visions of beasts and subjects you do not understand. Elder Brown, when you go to Palmyra, say nothing about the four beasts, but preach those things the Lord has told you to preach about-repentance and baptism for the remission of sins.” (Joseph Smith, 8 April 1843, TPJS 292) “The first principles of the Gospel, as I believe, are, faith, repentance, baptism for the remission of sins, with the promise of the Holy Ghost.” (Joseph Smith, 15 October 1843, TPJS 328)
@@MrFishwalkerThat's why we need these first principles to understand the Baptism of Fire and the Holy Ghost which comes next. Which is also part of the doctrine of Christ.
@@MommaCrissa While I know most people like to quote 2 Nephi 31, (and also 3 Nephi) what I often find more fascinating is 2 Nephi 32 where Nephi teaches not only the first principles, which are faith, repentance, and baptism of water and fire, but also that there is more doctrine. And guess what that doctrine is? It's the very word of the Lord taught to you while in the flesh. I believe that is why the Lord chose to use the word "build" upon in his explanation of the doctrine of Christ in 3 Nephi. It's not that there is no more doctrine, it's that this path is the foundational doctrine and we should declare no more or no less than that foundation. 2 Nephi 32 5 For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do. 6 Behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and there will be no more doctrine given until after he shall manifest himself unto you in the flesh. And when he shall manifest himself unto you in the flesh, the things which he shall say unto you shall ye observe to do. In verse 6, Nephi is teaching us about receiving the Second Comforter. And it's telling that for whatever reason, in the next verses the Spirit stops him from expounding further.
@@MrFishwalker I agree with that. I think that is what Adam is saying too though. If we don't receive the foundational part he can't give anyone more, which that "more" is doing the same things that Christ did/does. The healing and speaking with the tongue of angels, which would be boldly declaring his word. I'm sure more too. Am I missing something you are trying to say? I should add, the more is also Him telling each individual directly what more he wants us to do, which would be his doctrine distinctly and could be different to one to another. It would be His Word, so his doctrine. Hope that makes sense.
@@MommaCrissa Yes, he is saying that, but just before this part of the interview, the "Covenant Path" topic was brought up, implying the temple is invalid. Now, I know the temple is a huge topic. It's far too big for a short comment here. What if Joseph was taught about certain forms of temple worship, practices, and covenants as additional doctrine from the Lord? Now, let me be extremely clear, I strongly believe if there was any validity to what Joseph taught early on that it was corrupted, heavily! Hyrum is on record talking about the sealing power as it relates to marriage. In fact, that might have been the original revelation that formed the basis for D&C 132 which was hijacked by Brigham and turned into a revelation on polygamy. I hear so many people who teach "the doctrine of Christ", they also don't feel that there are other doctrines, practices, and teachings that can be included as part of Christ's doctrine. IMO there are not libraries enough to contain the doctrines and teachings of Christ. Anything that brings you closer to God is Christ's doctrine.
Wow. The pride…the sanctimony…and UN-righteous judgement! You know…even “the brethren” know that a great number of subjects are unraveling for the church. Maybe not tomorrow…maybe not next month…but none too soon, the actual truth is going to have a light shined on it. You just remember your comment when you finally have the fortitude to actually test your faith, rather than just trusting in the arm of man. You’re literally telling them that their testimonies are WRONG, simply because they don’t mesh perfectly with yours. Repent, friend.
@brijsmi072 I was thinking along the same lines. Two years ago, I probably would've responded the same way as this person... so much pride in the lds church! Thankfully, we can repent and come to God with a broken heart and contrite spirit, and hopefully this person will, too❤
@@Kristy_not_Kristine Yup.
