Innnnnn west Philadelphia born and raised, Rift grew up spendin most of his days, chillin out rockin out, actin all cool, listenin to some metal outside of school
You have a really great list for the most part. Don't let age soften you!!! I'm a 31 year old mom of a preteen who still goes to Maryland Deathfest and wears a band patch hoodie everyday, it makes me sad to hear people say they've grown up and don't listen to the same stuff anymore. Go to Maryland Deathfest, listen to drone doom, live your best life! ^_^
Not so much that he doesnt like them. More like hes not familiar with them or cares. (Unless he blatantly stated hes not a fan). Hes also pretty clueless about music altogether, hardly knows about the Beatles.
めいあ天使 No hate, but its a good indicator. From what Ive observed, he is for the most part. He seems to have a good general idea of classic metal though.
Dawson Wade hell yes, The Sound of Perserverance is probably my second or third fave Death album (with Spiritual Healing being second or third and Scream Bloody Gore being my first).
God damn it! Best intro ever!! I'm so glad you made this!! Heavy metal is one of the biggest parts of my life! You're a really fucking cool dude, always enjoy your videos!
Ghost is now known as Ghost in the US again; that particular legal dispute has been settled. They're in my top ten of favorite musical artists of all genres, and I think you'd really like some of their earlier stuff since you gravitate towards heavier metal styles - my favorite songs from earlier stuff are "Year Zero," "Ritual," "Elizabeth," and "Satan Prayer." The acoustic of "Jigolo Har Megiddo" is worth checking out too, as is "Zenith" which is only available on the vinyl release of Meliora. I don't think the current legal battle is gonna ruin the band, or at least, I'm hoping it won't. I'm optimistic though, because they just entered the music studio last month to start recording material for their fourth album. According to interviews it's gonna be heavier and go back towards their roots of being more openly Satanic instead of speaking in metaphors. I liked the shift towards metaphor myself because it allowed the listener to insert different themes into their songs, and as a classical pianist, I'm used to music that can apply to multiple moods and scenarios. So I'm interested to see how their new material will sound. This was a great video E. I always enjoy what you have to say about the performing arts!
I love primus so so much and all of my friends only know them because of me, I'm a really young fan and actually I was inspired to learn and get a bass because of les Claypool lol and all the other albums you've had me and my mom pretty much have. you have great choices for albums :)
I love Ghost so much, I have the Meloria shirt and it's one of my faves. Love all their music even the new stuff. Thank you for mentioning them, not enough do I think they have such a unique noise. Also you might have heard already but if not, the lead singer won the legal battle and he was asked how it affected him getting revealed and he said it hasn't taken away anything so far. Most of the fans still keep up the theater of the rituals with him, he did an interview on iheart radio the other day though unmasked if you are interested. Sorry for the rant, love your videos.
it feels like music defines us way more than i could think, i have the kinda same attachment to my albums and i relate them with my childhood aswell. Really interesting video and stay metal man!
I'm so happy u said Static X, that's my fave album by them too. I got the pleasure of going on tour with them in 2007 and Wayne was one of the greatest people u could ever hope to meet. Rest In Peace Wayne ❤️
My top 10 metal albums 1. Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral 2. Godflesh - Streetcleaner 3. Gorguts - Obscura 4. Converge - Jane Doe 5. Black Sabbath - Master of Reality 6. Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile 7. Boris - Flood 8. Deftones - White Pony 9. Strapping Young Lad - City 10. Primus - Frizzle Fry
Pink Floyd is what really got me to expand my music tastes as well, and Tool is also in my top 3 metal bands (other 2 being Megadeth and Sabbath). Make more non-ASMR vids Rift, we all know you are capable and we will be here to watch! Rock on 🤘
This video makes me extremely happy. I love this. Thankful my dad introduced me to rock and metal, and still wants me to go to concerts with him. His new discoveries are more progressive rock as he ages, since he isn't too keen on gutteral vocals like I like sometimes. Thanks for this
Thank you so much for this video, it took me back memory lane! I remember downloading, buying , and borrowing albums from friends who were so passionate for this genre. I copied and pasted heavy/thrash artists and corresponding albums that I used to headbang to 24/7. I would recommend any of these albums for people who love this genre Anthrax: Fistful of metal, spreading the disease, among the living Annihilator: Alice in hell Nuclear assault: Alive again, Game over Sacred Reich: ignorance , surf Nicaragua Flotsam and Jetsam: Doomsday for the deceiver, No place for disgrace Overkill: Feel the fire, taking over, the years of decay, horrorscope Death angel: Ultraviolence, frolic through the park Destruction: Infernal overkill Slayer: Hell awaits, show no mercy, reign in blood, seasons in the abyss, south of heaven Whiplash: power and pain Megadeth: killing is my business, peace sells, so far so good, rust in peace. Hearing you talk normal makes it seems like you're yelling XD. Also my top 5 Metal albums are 1. Ride the Lightning - Metallica 2. Disclaimer II - Seether 3. Issues - Korn 4. Made in Germany - Rammstein 5. Cowboys From Hell - Pantera
And here I am. Loving metal, but also rock, jazz, blues and classical stuff... Really would love to see similar videos about his favourite horror films and literature.
I think it's great that a guy whose channel primarily is about making content that is soothing and relaxing, listens to metal. It's a perfect way of representing how music taste doesn't define the people that listen to it.
I really appreciate this. People should talk more about what they love without being intimidated by the possibility of no one caring about it. This guy speaks with the passion of someone who had to keep quiet about metal for a long time and now has finally found a place where you can speak directly to the people who care. Never let your passion die just because you think you're alone. Passion is what keeps us going. There's all kind of people in this fucking world, find yours and be happy.
I was born in Philadelphia and I got into metal as a kid up there. I moved to Florida as a teenager and my love for metal grew. I was and am a musician. I started with Bon Jovi/Ratt and I got heavier through the years. As a teen I loved Death metal and through my twenties I still listened to new bands. I love everything from The Beatles to Carcass. I never stopped listening to metal and it still means as much to me now as it ever has. Music is my life. Now and forever!
Good mix of metal, dude! Black, death, classic... Awesome stuff. I've been on a 'goth' bauhaus and Virgin prunes kick but I've been revisiting metal lately and this was a great reminder of bands that I haven't listened to in a while. The more I watch your stuff the more I respect you as an artist and like you as a person. Keep up the good work! (sorry for the long comment)
I don't listen to heavy metal and probably never will, but hearing your story of how you found the genre and how it helped you find your way in life was very interesting. I can tell the music means a lot to you, ER.
Tool, Gojira, Slayer, Sepultura, Primus, Otep, Pantera, NIN, Metallica, hell this whole list lol is amazing. my high school years, for sure, especially Tool. So cathartic for me, fuelled 99% of my workouts... also pretty sure I played Vulgar Display of Power, Opiate, and Undertow til they broke. and then when I discovered Maynard James Keenan's other stuff, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer and all that, I obsessed over him for a while, too. like you, their music vid just blew me away when I was a kid, bc I was already heavy into Tim Burton and stop-motion film in general, so to see their videos doing a creepy, adult version of that, on such a badass song... ugh. And then I saw Beavis and Butthead feature them in one of their skits, and I was in love all over again lol you know you've made it big when Beavis and Butthead make social commentary/dick jokes about your band. Where I live in New England, there's a big presence of live hard rock acts, so I still go see lots of that kinda stuff luckily :D I'm still in my music-obsessed phase. So are you amped for the new Tool album, Uncle E??
I love your content. I really enjoyed the ASMR vids and now I really enjoy this beyond average white mid-old male talking about heavy metal. You are excelent film maker. I really believe that one day I am going to see some of your work in cinema. And I am so looking forward to it!
Great list bro. Love me some Ghost. Glad to see another fan. They're covers are some of the best I've ever heard not to mention their original content is my favorite in metal today. ✌🏻brother.
Awesome collection; and a real, true metalhead collection. Many classics. I bet today's self-proclaimed metalheads does not even know half of those bands.
have you heard Death Magnetic or Hardwired To Self Destruct by Metallica since you haven't purchased a Metallica since Load/Reload (which in themselves aren't bad albums)?
Sam Perkins devil's dance, King nothing, the house that Jack built, and mama said are my favourites from Load/ReLoad. And I love hardwired + Death Magnetic.
Ultimo there's some songs that grew on me on that album but the snare gets annoying so quickly. Though some of the songs don't sound too bad live like when they played the title track in 2014
I don't like it but I don't mind a few of the songs like St Anger, Some Kind Of Monster and The Unnamed Feeling. Songs like Purify and Invisible kid are the worst of Metallica.
Sam Perkins I love St. Anger for its lyrical meanings. And plus it's not a bad album if you take away the snare ( because I can listen to songs without solos, like KoRn) however yes, it's the worst Metallica Album
Brooooo it would be so cool if you made metal album discussion videos. It would be a cool way to interact with your community and talk about something we love.
My type of channel, finally I found an ASMR channel where both SCP and heavy metal are entitled to this channel 🤘🏻 This is a safe place for metalhead to lay back and relax
Always suspected you were a metal head, but still pleasantly surprised. I'd personally love to see you come out with more non ASMR videos, of course topics on metal and music in general are especially welcomed. \m/
Wow. I grew up west of Philly too..around the same time. This is like my childhood being told through another person. Almost to a T. Mind=blown!! Saw Floyd at The Vet in '94. Danzig's new 'Black Laden Crown' is out now btw. I don't know if you'll see this comment, but did you know that there's basically no bass mixed in on 'And Justice for All'? Apparently they were playing a prank on Newsted..not sure. But someone added in his bass parts, with modern technology, and it sounds much thicker and is a complete different experience to listen to! You can find it on here. It's called 'And Justice For Jason'.. lol. Thanks for making this video.
Exactly the same story here. Except for the church stuff, that must have sucked really bad. Good that you looked past that and wondered what's out there without blindly believing. Forever subscribed
"Not an ASMR video"
Yeah sure whatever you say Uncle E.
*falls asleep at 1 pm listening to metal ramblings*
He has the most soothing voice even though it's not an ASMR
I'm a simple man, I see slayer, I click.
I'm a simple woman, I see Death, I click.
I'm a simple meme, I see Korn, I click.
Pepe Da froge I am a simple woman, I see NIN, I click.
I'm a simple man, if i see dark, and satanist themed music, I click.
I'm a simple woman. I see Tool, I click.
You picked a great topic for a non-asmr video! That is one epic list of albums and I'm definitely going to check out the ones I haven't heard yet
The ASMR Review Show. "Epic."
The thumbnail for this is the cutest thing I've ever seen
I'm not entirely certain, but I THINK you like metal
He is Satan after all 🤔
yeah this video somewhat hints at that.
It took me a while to pick up on that too, his love for metal is rather subtle..
Mikey Wright are you being sarcastic
In West Philadelphia born and raised, listening to heavy metal is where I spent most of my days
Hey man i always had respect for you, but after this video i have to say that you're one of the BEST.
HEAVY METAL ALL THE WAY \M/
Innnnnn west Philadelphia born and raised, Rift grew up spendin most of his days, chillin out rockin out, actin all cool, listenin to some metal outside of school
You have a really great list for the most part. Don't let age soften you!!! @@typicalfurry2747 ah i see you are a man of culture
So you love Pink Floyd but you don't like sabbath, zeppelin, deep purple etc.
You really are an enigma rift
Ephemeral Enigma
Not so much that he doesnt like them. More like hes not familiar with them or cares. (Unless he blatantly stated hes not a fan). Hes also pretty clueless about music altogether, hardly knows about the Beatles.
One Off ASMR
Just cause he doesn't know much about the Beatles doesn't mean he's clueless about music altogether.
めいあ天使 No hate, but its a good indicator. From what Ive observed, he is for the most part. He seems to have a good general idea of classic metal though.
One Off ASMR
To be clear... I just meant that one thing seems kinda unfair to judge someone for. But I do (mostly) agree with you though.
now this is quality content. I love it
I can listen to ER for hours.. Especially the non-ASMR videos! Such a cool guy!
So many amazing bands, Ghost, NIN, Metallica, Maiden.. You’re great.
Later stuff from death is fucking amazing
Dawson Wade hell yes, The Sound of Perserverance is probably my second or third fave Death album (with Spiritual Healing being second or third and Scream Bloody Gore being my first).
Dawson Wade Crystal Mountain is my favorite
Dawson Wade *All of Death's stuff is amazing
August Campbell very true lol. I was just emphasizing albums such as human and onwards. Sometimes I forget how awesome leprosy is.
I see you're an Architects fan as well \m/
What if E.R. started doing more non-ASMR? That would be awesome in my opinion!
Inflatable Mattress I believe he said he wanted to start doing that. Would be awesome.
I need someone to show me the things in life that I can't find
Inflatable Mattress absolutely
Inflatable Mattress I hope he keeps non asmr stuff on a separate channel.
Harperlarp He usually labels Asmr videos so if you can read there shouldn't be any confusion
God damn it! Best intro ever!! I'm so glad you made this!! Heavy metal is one of the biggest parts of my life! You're a really fucking cool dude, always enjoy your videos!
Other than Jared Dines or Farvann, this is one of my favourite TH-camr (not a fan of ASMR but this channel is my preferred ASMR channel)
If ephemeralrift collabed with jared and DAVIE S L A P P wed have the youtube Endgame
Cool guy!
I like how he talks so sophisticated and he's talking about heavy metal, great video, would like more normal voice vids!
Who else is wondering how long it took him to edit this video after every few words he speaks?
Ghost is now known as Ghost in the US again; that particular legal dispute has been settled. This was a great video E. I always enjoy what you have to say about the performing arts!
Adding this to the list of reasons why I appreciate you. From one metal head to another, you rock Uncle E!
You'd enjoy Type O Negative. Give them a listen. Especially their first 3 albums.
Joe Krafft Damn right!
Joe Krafft agreed. Bloody Kisses is so hauntingly beautiful. Reminds me of my teens as well. Ah the good, bad old days.
They are fuckin awesome!
Bloody Kisses and October Rust. Ah....memories
Joe Krafft
TYPE O IS GOD
Why does it sound like hes yelling when he talks normal? Guess im just so used to his _gentle_ _whisper_
I love primus so so much and all of my friends only know them because of me, I'm a really young fan and actually I was inspired to learn and get a bass because of les Claypool lol and all the other albums you've had me and my mom pretty much have. you have great choices for albums :)
Does anyone notice how many times he cuts ?
The Expeditioner, it was probably unscripted and he cut it to shorten the video
Jump cuts are pretty normal these days.
Dude this is my favorite ASMR channel !! Thanks Uncle E.
If you ever get a chance to see TOOL live, DO IT! I've seen them twice and except for perhaps NIN, easily the best shows I have seen.
Awesome Collection!!!!
Just a fellow metalhead, watching your asmr Vids to crash at night...then I realize we share the love of the cosmic mythos and heavy metal.. Cheers!
I thought I loved you before but I have newfound respect and admiration for you, ER ❤✊
this is such a nice addition to your channel! I'll write the albums down and will listen to all of them tonight! thanks uncle E!
I just wanna say ILY so much 😂😂😂😂😂 best asmrtist and metalhead
*Gets hyped on heavy metal, chills out and does ASMR videos looool*
Every time someone says Michael Jackson I think of Evh because of the satisfying solo in beat it
Thanks for the extra bands to check out. Quite the repertoire you have there.
excellent video!!!!thanks mr.rift!!!!long life to metalheads!!!!!!!!!!
"A band called X"... Fuck yess! I love X. Classic Punk Rock! Good ass music.
I really do love these "normal" speaking videos.. such a nice change of pace from the soft talking and whispering
I love death/black metal! You know🤘🏼 Dawn of Demise
Also own a lot of these, hoping to find some more music I might like over these next 40 minutes!
So glad u did this video uncle E, metal shall rule forever
You were a perfect candidate for Metal and Hardcore. It all makes sense.
The more I watch your stuff the more I respect you as an artist and like you as a person. Keep up the good work! (sorry for the long comment)
Tool's lyrics are pure genius
Metal is such an underappreciated genre these days. You have my respect, friend.
I don't listen to heavy metal and probably never will, but hearing your story of how you found the genre and how it helped you find your way in life was very interesting. I can tell the music means a lot to you, ER.
Despite the fact I couldn't speak English in my teens, I totally relate with your story. Way to go Rift, thanks for sharing!!!
I don't have time just yet, but as a fellow fan of metal from across the generations, Damn i'm excited to watch this one.
*mentions what was badass too him, Mentions Harleys were badass* Harleys are still badass!

This makes you so much cooler!
Hardwired to self destruct is amazing ... defiantly check it out .
Brooooo it would be so cool if you made metal album discussion videos. It would be a cool way to interact with your community and talk about something we love.
metallica is my favorite band :) loved the video!
The editing in this video is on point.
Nice to see talk about heavy metal again !
Give In This Moment a try if you haven't. They got me back into metal.
Up the Irons \m/
@Shadow 1233 The first ever British band I've heard. They're really good!
My type of channel, finally I found an ASMR channel where both SCP and heavy metal are entitled to this channel 🤘🏻 This is a safe place for metalhead to lay back and relax
It's actually quite nice to hear you normal voice for a change.
Got to give props to whoever did all the edits
Always suspected you were a metal head, but still pleasantly surprised. I'd personally love to see you come out with more non ASMR videos, of course topics on metal and music in general are especially welcomed.

I've been waiting for something all metal related.
Geeze, in just the first 10 minutes, you've hit all the right buttons as far as coining off bands you ran into and who you listen to today. haha
No way, I've been itching for his video!!! So far I've seen megadeth, slayer, testament, and others!!!
Exactly the same story here. Except for the church stuff, that must have sucked really bad. Good that you looked past that and wondered what's out there without blindly believing. Forever subscribed
