I think the transition of the fiery glow on Coraline's face to the fireplace was just a filmmaking visual choice to demonstrate Coraline's fury with the Beldam.
11:33 Those are pruning shears. You can tell by the bypass blades. Also, since gardening is a recurring theme here, that seems most likely.
It looks like mom has at least 2 neck braces. One white or cream and one light blue.
And the dad seems to have two pairs of glasses. The ones coraline puts on the pillow do not have a frame on the top edge, whereas the glasses the father wears throughout the movie do. Maybe those glasses were readers? It would make sense since they were on his bedroom end table.
Wait a minute! Coraline uses the neck brace and glasses to make to mom and dad pillows. But they're wearing them in the mirror!
9:20 and a little bit before the doll could have been left as a way to tease Coraline and the Beldame took advantage of they looking for Coraline to kidnap them by pretending to be her. Because that would be the one thing they have in common their love for Coraline and the worry about her being missing.
Since I was born around the time Coraline was released I watch this movie a lot and liked it. All this time I didn’t think about these. After all scenes are covered, do you plan on making a mega-compilation? Or a retrospective on the most interesting/ things you discovered throughout the entire in-depth analysis (the proving of the other world after she entered through the tunnel)
also at 7:05, is that the Beldam in between Mel's elbow and her hand while writing? Holy shit..
I can see myself doing a "wind down" retrospective to cover the big highlights, but I'm not sure about a huge compilation. 🤔 That sounds like a question for the comments to weigh in on!

Anyway I looked for your part and are you seeing like a tiny beldam ½ of her face near Mel’s armpit? Cuz that’s the only thing I see but I think it’s just creasing. It’s weird tho cuz I totally see it
@@heyits_kat Woah, I didn't even notice the first part. I'm prone to overthinking because there really are no accidents in movies like these. To the latter part of this comment, that is exactly what I saw. It could simply be a case of mental imagery, but if other people report something similar, and it's not just creasing as you described, I would be interested in even an explanation to rationalize why she would be there at that scene. The entire scene of her parents trapped in the mirror was already enough to lure her back.. just why?
Don't people with glasses sometimes have backups? Also don't people wearing braces sometimes take them off? If I took off mine then found out my kid was missing I don't think I'd bother putting it back on.

To be fair with the glasses and the brace, I have an extra identical pair of glasses, just in case. I also have two back braces (slighty different color and firmness) so it wouldn't be out of the out of the question for Coraline to find.
The glasses left on the table, which must be Coraline's dad's are not the same we see him wearing. perhaps they are his reading glasses?
YOU MISSED THIS!! You said it was weird the father and mother Ieft the gIasses and neckbrace behind, but in the mirror prison they are both wearing them! And this is not the other worIds version because when coraIine crawIs through the door, the beIdam trickers her into thinking she is her reaI mum, and when she morphs back into the beIdam and RIPS OFF THE NECK BRACE. its weird she can create human Iooking eyes but not a neck brace?? So there are now 3 neckbraces. This 100 percent confims she is not in the reaI worId after she gets the button eye present. I Iove your vidoes your amazing at the detaiIs in this movie!!!!
Maybe the cat actually manages to feed while the beldam does and helping trap the kids keeps him alive, it would be interesting to see how the other kids were kept. Maybe the cat has been alive a long time and is “witches black cat” and he plays the loving kind cat to the kids as part of the trick to keep them. Maybe not
I think they couldn't show her using a knife because it's supposed to be a children's movie also would probably put coraline in more danger
a few things to note in the scene where coraline makes the pillow people:
1. we can see that the glasses she puts on the pillow are a different pair. not unusual to have a spare pair of glasses. the ones he usually wears have a frame on top and wire on the bottom (i think thats how those types of frames work) and the ones on the pillow are clearly thicker on the bottom (you can tell when we get a shot of the family photo)
2. when mel left the house, her neck brace appears to be blue and white, but the one coraline puts on the pillow is a beige and white one (which we have seen her wear throughout the film) not sure why she would have multiple neck braces as its made clear that she was recently in a car accident and she hurt her neck, but yeah. it could just be the lighting but right before mel leaves its pretty distinctly blue and whhite. also in the mirror both mel and charlie are wearing their respective neck brace and glasses.
of course this is the other world and the beldam is just making coralines parents look as familiar as possible and isn't changing anything about their appearance.

I don't think she can make another doll as well but I like to imagine that they were one because of some sort of metaphor. They were both taken together and it really was only for Coraline's benefit. I mean I'm 35 and I don't talk to me dolls anymore. LOL sure I'm sure some do but...I just can't see the beldam needing to make more dolls for the parents when that is the reason she made it for the children. Please don't take this a trying to change your mind I just love debating. I have different opinions but to be honest I like yours's better! LOL!
I wonder where The Beldam got the material for the dolls. If she reuses it to make each doll. Then it must be really rare fabric. Kinda like Harry Potters cloak 🤔
Because of other comments, it looks like the parents each have two sets of accessories. The glasses on the table and the pair Charlie's wearing in the mirror are shaped differently and have different lens styles, and the neck braces are different colors. Mel's wearing the blue one when she leaves the house.

I actually noticed the squids head being differently shaped when I first watch the movie which would’ve been 2000 probably 10 but I brushed it off as may be a production air or that I really didn’t see it because I didn’t pause or anything I was watching it with my cousins but it’s such a weird detail to come back to and find out oh it was different I’m not going crazy and somebody else finally pointed it out thank you
Here’s something-if the family just moved there how could the old ladies ask for a ride to the theater months ago?
I mean sure we could assume that they asked their new neighbors
But if there was a time gap perhaps it would be true that they asked Mel and Charlie in that time gap and then months went by,

So the mom left her neck brace and the dad left his glasses but when Coraline sees them in the mirror they have them. Normally I'd say it's an error but it's not unlikely the dad would have 2 pairs of glasses but the mom having 2 neck braces is a little odd to me.
I don’t really like commenting, it makes me a bit uncomfortable, but I’ve been watching you for literal years. There are a few things I’ve wanted to mention that you may or may not have noticed. Coraline is associated with dragonfly’s a lot and dragonfly’s are the worlds best hunters. They catch their prey about 95% of the time. Dragonfly’s are also said to represent change and emotional maturity. One of the creepiest things in the movie to me is the picture of her friends that initially don’t have button eyes but later do as if they also choose the button eyes. When I first noticed that I had chills.
To me, the cat is on-par with two other cats I've seen in literature/film. First, the cat from The Last Unicorn, and secondly Edgewood Dirk from The Magical Land of Landover series by Terry Brooks. Although, you can also think of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.
Cats seem to always have a greater or supernatural level of knowledge, but only give enough of it to serve for their own amusement or interest. They may have a goal to help the human characters, but will not ever provide black and white explanations or details. It is more fun/amusing for the cat to appear superior and clever and have the human need to work things out, than to just flat out tell the human anything.
In short, just like a cat will always toy with a mouse before killing it, a cat will always just dangle enough information to allow a human being to figure something out. It is not their job to be a companion at all times or anything. They come when it pleases them and give whatever information they feel like, in a manner that is entertaining to them.
So the cat doesn't want the Beldam to succeed but also will not provide direct answers either. The cat acts to serve its own purposes, in its own way, neither beholden to the Beldam or Coraline.
Idk y anyone would fight u on Coraline having naturally blue hair I mean c'mon don't they have any idea about how genetics work 😞 blue hair is not a natural hair color 4 human beings especially when both her parents have the same hair color 😂
I know I'm taking some creative liberties at this point, but in My Little Pony. Chrysalis is described as a change line. Who takes the form of someone you love And gains power by feeding off your love for them. And that sounds a lot like the other mother. I also love your videos. Yoiu might like Harold Halibut old UK show meets Coraline all done in clay. Not horror more like bioshock 1, but everyone is more are less fine and had been a game for the whole family in the 2000s point and click feel to it.

10:08 honestly as far as the Black cat goes I see him as the physical manifestation of the other world, to put that into context I see the other world as some lovecraftian beast or Eldridge horror that has a belly that looks like a pocket dimension resembling our world and the Pink Palace. I think the black cat is the distilled consciousness of this Eldridge beast that the other world is and the other mother is afraid of him because she's more or less functioning Like A parasite or a tapeworm
