I know I always joke about wanting the truck but this is more important. Take a break. Period. Take a break when you need one. Its wonderful to see some one who enjoys what they are doing as much as you. Don't let it consume you. Look at some one that has wrenched for 40 or 50 years. Chances are they might be pretty beat up. Lotsa head whacks, back strains, chemicals and other assorted injuries. If you cram 50 years of work into 10 years...Somethings gonna give. When it ain't fun or you lose focus...ya gotta walk away. An hour, a day, a week. What ever it takes to keep your cranium screwed on properly. Thanks so much for all your work. Your doing great!!!

If you are concerned about just not being able to upload on schedule, then by all means, create any video that takes the minimal amount of time and effort to create (heck , even just vlog video is more than enough) and upload that. You can even film them in advance.

Yes, videos need to be made and we know you are a perfectionist, but find it in yourself to save some time somewhere in editing, camera setup etc.
I guess I am saying the content is why we watch. Your editing and video quality is a bonus (and a huge bonus), but I'd rather be watching your videos in 5 years, than wondering why you disappeared suddenly one day.....

TH-cam doesn’t work like that. Us individual creators have to work our asses off because social media is dominated now by companies with several dozen employees generating content like machines. If we don’t keep up, TH-cam doesn’t care and it’ll kill a channel by not staying consistent regardless if your viewers are loyal. It’s a highly complex process running a successful channel despite how it seems.

I subscribed to a duo halfway around the world in another hemisphere that have a different style and have been in the business for 14 years that I do enjoy immensely. Having said that, Sarah on her own is... well my favorite for a multitude of reasons which means nothing to anyone but me.

Wow… that was a fast almost 16 minutes of great content. I occasionally have those “zoned out” moments. Overwork will definitely contribute to it, but I’ve learned it has more to do with keeping consistent sleep habits which become more important as we age. Your commitment to your vocation is truly extraordinary but if slowing down a little means less work accomplished in each video, you owe it to yourself… I know you won’t adjust your 72 hour schedule! After returning to civilization and after meeting a fellow Sarah fan i finally get to watch. The things i remember the most are Shafts and insertion. Clean pull out. Hard to work w/ something this little, and last but not least "Hand Fisting."
I've been living vicariously through this project because my ranger is too far gone to be saved. I would have to do a frame swap due to Michigan salt rotting the frame out and I'm in no position to do that as a full time student living in an apartment. Thank you for the all great videos, Sarah

It’s coming along nicely Sarah. The best outcome for cleaning up the aluminum transmission is blasting it with glass bead. If you can find someone with a large enough cabinet to put it inside you could go that route. Knowing you are something like me, you won’t be happy until it is back to new especially with all the perfection of ever bring else.
Off-topic, but Sarah started it: an ex's sister had ferrets that were straight up alcoholics. If you left a glass of wine undefended, they would steal as much of it as they could. They would also steal beer and some mixed drinks, but not soft drinks or water.
Guessing they didn't wind up at a nursing home, but I never asked.

Put your torque wrench on the other side (180 degrees across) so there's less leverage to spin the crank.
I second that idea. It applies to wheel nuts also.
And if it still turns, you can loosely put in a pressure plate bolt and a transmission bolt and connect with wire or small chain. It doesn't need much to prevent spinning.
Yes, very useful advice here.
You can use nylon brushes on a drill to clean up that transmission, it's time consuming and fidly, but low buck...
Always love your videos Sarah!! Totally inspired by your knowledge and willingness to plunge into any project. This pickup is my favorite subject by far. Probably because I’m into restoring older cars more than working on the newer vehicles. My garage now holds a totally restored to stock 1955 Chevy 210 Delray Club Coupe and a totally Hot Rod 1929 Ford Roadster. During this pandemic they have been slumbering, but you are inspiring me to get them back on the street where they belong!! Keep up the interesting content!
@Sarah: Your best bet would be contacting LMC Truck in Lenaxa, Kansas, for the flare hardware you need. They sell an aftermarket flare for the Ranger that has hardware with it, but I didn't see an individual part number for the hardware only. Though at $85 + tax, you theoretically could get the flares from LMC Truck, and simply use the hardware kit that comes with it.
And I completely understand on getting OEM fasteners, but given how old the truck is (being almost 30 years old), you may have to go with an aftermarket solution to put the flares back on.
I researched it, it’s considered part of the flare so it’s not sold separately.
@@SarahnTuned : Only other option I can come up with would be to have the proper diameter bolts with nuts and washers, so that at the least, you can bolt the flares back on.
As I said, it's not the preferable solution, but it is a solution. And I understand about wanting OEM fasteners and components.
The other question is, have you thought about using the manual you have and researching possible part numbers from that? I would think that the service manual would have parts numbers for direct or equivalent replacement.
And if not from the manual you have, then perhaps finding a body parts manual that a body shop would use, and getting parts numbers from that.

Bug sprayer, swimming pool acid, soda blaster with added baking soda blaster, pressure.
Spray with acid, let sit for 10 minutes shoot with blaster, pressure wash, repeat if necessary.
Will bring to bright smooth finish.
Sarah I was researching a problem on a truck I am working on. I literally stubbled across your channel. You so mechanic! My gosh I laughed my ass off. I have been where you are at with the "taking a trip but never leaving the farm". That's a bad spot to be with what your doing. You do the craziest darn things like bolting on a oil pan on without tightening the rod caps. Reassembling a carburetor with the float sitting right there on your work bench in front of you. Other motorheads did that though, I never did it. ROTFL. Seriously, time out. Go sky diving over Mt. Kīlauea in Hawaii, that will seriously blow out the stagnant mental fuel. With that said I adore you channel. New fan!

Instead of soda blasting. Try Walnut blasting. You can get walnut shell at Harbor Freight pretty cheap. It's a little bit more aggressive than soda. But not too horrible aggressive

After watching SMA and Rainman Ray channels I thought that flashlight or wrench gravity is quite common. Same goes to me, about everything that can, tends to fall down/over. Would not leave torque wrench on the bolt like this, it would fall off the moment I'm not looking.
Those pumps looked as if they were made in the same factory. The one you took out just had the clamp at the bottom twisted round by the mechanic.

Sarah: Just to add to what's been said before - while we all appreciate the effort you put into providing the excellent content you create, I'm pretty sure we'd all rather wait a bit between videos to ensure you are not overstressed - please make taking care your yourself 1st a priority. You need to apply the same level of OCD care to yourself as you do to your fleet.
I just recently had to put new bearings in my Neptune front loader washing machine Sarah and the kit was the same thing for the seal with a little plastic piece that cracked me up!
You are important first and foremost, so take your time! 🧡

New flywheel, clutch and cover. That was oddly satisfying.
Hi Sarah, If you microwave the filter/ pump screw flange the warmth will expand it and make it go on a little easier.

Depending on the finish you're looking for, maybe look into different media for your soda blaster. Maybe glass bead, there's different grades, maybe on the finer side so it doesn't get that rough sandblasted look? There's also a paint stripping process that uses a pressure washer with fine media added and they work on rust too. Probably going to leave the smoothest finish and worth looking into if there's a company nearby.
I'll echo the thoughts already shared.....We'll always enjoy each and every video you produce, keep a comfortable pace and pause once in a while to spend some quality time with your penguins. We're not going anywhere. Oh yes, as always this video was superb!

After you showing how to do the rear main seal, I have even less faith/desire to have mine that is a very minor leak fixed. Clearly a repair best done with the engine out.
To get rid of the corrosion on the transmission, spray it with white vinegar. This will neutralise the corrosion, then hit it with the sofa blaster again. Then respray with vinegar. I do this with motorcycle engines that have corrosion and it works a treat.
Fellow Ranger owner & mechanic here... Same mental block thing happens to me when I don't get enough sleep or if I work too much. I'm currently transplanting a 6.8 liter V-10 from a '03 super-duty into an '05 econoline E-350 and I'm really feeling mentally drained... I mean, who wouldnt? It's a V-10 in a van and it sucks! Worked on it over the weekend and started having mental blocks the past few days... realized I have been working every single day this past month so once the new V-10 is in its new home, I'm gonna take time off from work to recharge the batteries. These weekend engine swaps have taken their toll!

You can get a flywheel holding tool to ease the process of torquing the flywheel bolts considerably. Not a very expensive tool, super handy when doing clutch work, but they way you did it works too. Just an FYI.
As a sufferer if stress, take it from me Sarah, do not ignore the signs. Take a break, refresh and then you will have a better outlook (and less frustration) with life.
@Sarah -n- Tuned Every time I see the Ranger without the cab, I think you should make a matching trailer from the extra box/frame parts. No idea why, just that it would look kinda cool. Maybe an overland camper with the matching box as a base?
Use a hoover when drilling. That will take care of loose drill crumbs. Flywheel bolt. Take the screw on the left and torque wrench to the right.
The project is coming along amazingly well! But for your sake and ours as viewers, I hope you’re able to take it easy and take whatever time you need off in order to feel like a person again. I don’t know many harder workers than you, nor anyone who might deserve time off to relax more than you. Please prioritize yourself!

Delphi make alot of aftermarket parts these days. Tech tip to stop flywheel moving. Get an old ring gear and cut a piece off. Put a bellhousing bolt in engine then put the piece of ring gear on the flywheel against bolt.

And, whether talking or doing, we know it's relevant and always has a wonderful Sarah spin, so just film what feels right to you, it almost always is. :) But, most importantly, look after yourself and your own wellbeing in whatever way gets results and makes you feel better.
