I know people exaggerate a lot in TH-cam comments, but this might actually be the greatest video of all time. Solid effort. That price though. I've had a gaming laptop before and while it's cool and sounds like it's going to give freedom to play games anywhere, the truth is we end up using them as desktop PCs anyway. For laptops, you basically want to get something with super long battery life that can do all the basics, mainly work related and possibly play old games like Quake 3. 2080 or even 2060 in a laptop? Just overkill and throwing money away. A good keyboard with a long life battery though, that's something I would want.
9:10 I'm definitely one of the people who do prefer the Windows key on the left as well. I was pretty upset at first, but there is a solution! The first one is temporary. With the MSI Dragon Software, you can swap the Fn and Windows key functions. This would have to be manually applied every boot up though, hence temporary solution. The second is to boot into the BIOS and there should be a setting to permanently swap the Fn and Windows key functions. This will be permanently applied automatically, and you don't even have to think about it. The last step to do though, is to actually physically swap the keys so they are in their respective places, which took all of 1 min. I took a knife (you just need something sturdy and thin) and pried under the keys and pressed them back on. No issues. So you CAN fix this "issue", it's just I wish it was like this to begin with, but it's nothing that is too hard to do. Hope this helps with many other users.

Using Intel XTU it is easy to run a -0.140 V core voltage offset and drop your temps by 15-20 degrees. Then it is important to use the right fan curve in Dragon center. Also in Dragon center you can adjust the "Turbo Mode" and run a decent overclock on the graphics. Without issue I run a +175mhz core / +300mhz memory and it runs fantastic! thank you so much, much needed review am i'm considering MSI, I think its not practical cause its thin n light with a max-Q a bad battery life eventhough its not G-sync screen, microphone is also a disappointment
Max-Q RTX laptops aren't worth it since Max-Q RTX cards are heavily power throttled. 2060N is more worth it. 2080MQ probably just 10-15% faster (with dual channel RAM) while cost much more. Note that 2060N is just slightly behind a 1070N, not 2060 vs 1080 in desktop cards. GS65/GS75 has flimsy build quality despite metal build. For the price it's unacceptable IMO. The quiet fans also lead to high temps (no idea why they did that considering that they are thin and lights which don't have much thermal headroom).
Question for owners, on cooler boost, dragon center fan 1 shows 6000k rpm the other around 5600, is that too low? My gs65 fans were boosting to 6450 and 6350. Can someone check their gs75 fan plz?

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! I have two questions and I cant seem to find the answer anywhere! 1) Is the GTX 1080(laptop) better than the rtx 2080 Max Q? Userbenchmark says max q is better but I think fps performance says otherwise 2) Is the rtx 2080 max q better than desktop 2060??? Again, user benchmark says 2080maxq is SLIGHTLY stronger but fps performance says otherwise. It seems like desktop gives better performance overall. I have this same exact laptop and Im looking for benefits of having an rtx 2080mq and not buyers remorse :/
unfortunately RTX tech is overrated, and don;t think will evolve well. Performance wise, it's not worth it. Let's be honest.. it's a 2days gimmick. You'll forget about the nice shadows and reflections in no time. And then fallback only purely on performance. Also there are so few games supporting it ... Also, by next year I expect AMD will probably crush NVIDIA, unless NVIDIA really move their asses and "innovate" next line of GPUs (RTX were definitely not ppl were expecting last year). I don't know ..it's weird. For example in the mid-tier laptop GPU's I;'d go with 1660TI over 2060 RTX or 2070 RTX MaxQ. The price/performance it';s excelent.
@@i3looi2 Thanks for your response, but that didn't answer either of the 2 questions that I posted. Im well aware that the rtx graphics cards are seen as an "innovative rip off" where the hype doesnt drastically improve performance. But I already purchased an rtx 2080 max q(which is heavily underclocked) and I dnt want buyers remorse lmao
MSI has good value to money in term of specs, but poor quality in term of physical, i.e hinge quality is easy to break and crack even when we use it carefully.
I’m trying to figure out why people say max q is a scam? Like y’all are complaining about these numbers from a laptop under 5lbs??! Y’all are comparing these to a full on desktop and trying to make it look bad. Some people don’t realize how far gaming laptops have came. Give credit when credit is due. These new thin and lights are badass granite the thermals but nothing an undervolt won’t solve so chill out with all the negativity. I love all these new thin and lights. The only complaint I have is that MOST of them is in single channel instead of dual channel which does effect gaming performance. Other than that these things are awesome
Its because you pay full price for less performance. The difference between a 2060 and 2070 is $200 to $300.... and the difference between a 2070 and 2080 is $400. Firestrike graphics scores. 2060: 16000 2070mq 80W: 16700 2070mq 90W: 18000 2080mq 80W: 19000 Desktop 2060: 20000 2070: 20500 2080mq: 20500 Desktop 2070: 24000 2080: 26000 Desktop 2080: 28000 What's worse, OEM's won't even specify whether they ship with 80w or 90w parts. 2060 and 2070mq perform within 10% of each other. 2070mq 90w and 2080mq 80w perform within 10% of each other 2070....and 2080mq 90w perform within 5% of each other. A 2080mq 90W and full laptop 2070 are on par with a desktop 2060!! Even in Ray tracing tensor cores. A desktop 2080 is 40 to 50% faster than the 2080 max q's. A desktop 2070 is 20% faster than a laptop 2070........and 35 to 40% faster than the 2070 max q's. This just pollutes the market and benchmark databases with so many gpus that share the same name but are vastly different.....THUS IT IS A SCAM. If they perform significantly different, THEN GIVE THEM COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NAMES. Instead they market with the same name, allowing consumers to pay more foe less performance......and polluting markets and databases with vastly varying performance. smh
Kninez Banky I agree with the price of the graphics cards themselves but the overall cost for a laptop in general is for portability. Yes desktops are better and always will be but your paying for portability with performance in mind not the other way around.
With the laptop GTX 1070 they actually increased the Cuda core count compared to the desktop variant, that way they could lower clock speeds and power draw without it performing worse. Wish they'd do that more, but we are talking about Nvidia here.
NZRoflcopter That’s what I was thinking. My 1070 with the extra CUDA cores runs 2 GHz even with the stupid power limit locked. Those laptops are in the $1400 range, and should be similar performance to this (also MSI, and really thin and light)
That's on single channel memory. On dual channel the max-q does much better than the 2060. ownordisown made a video that pointed this out. I now take much more gains of salt when watching a review of a RTX gaming laptop and the reviewer never mentions that its in dual channel or not.
Also, keep in mind laptop GPUs are very adjustable when it comes to TDP. The 2080 MaxQ can draw anywhere from 90W , upt to 150+W depending on laptop cooling performance. So yeah...
nice nice the People Man has spoken How meany times i haveto say A LAPTOP ITS NOT FOR GAMING!!!!!! the revuew was a really deep one an honest that what i like in the tech yes man
The 2080 results were so dissapointing. I had a sneaky feeling that the best value for this laptop would be the 2070. But going 2080 sounds like throwing out money.
What they don't tell you is that the hinges on the screen are made to last until about a month after your warranty and then literally snap off. Speaking from personal experience here
1:41 Are you absolutely sure it's *72% sRGB* not *72% NTSC* which ≈ 100% sRGB? I find a hard time believing a $2800 laptop is equipped with such a horrible screen. You did talk about the accuracy of colours and praised it etc. which 72% sRGB isn't worthy of any praise IMO. At 2:20 I see the chromaticity diagram, not much information though.

brutal but honest well done!
What is a good gaming laptop for under $3000?
is it back of right hand side broken?!
How to raise the brightness to the highest possible thing
How can ıI can downgrade fans sound ? I play gaming and fans sounds are loud
thank you so much, much needed review am i'm considering MSI, I think its not practical cause its thin n light with a max-Q a bad battery life eventhough its not G-sync screen, microphone is also a disappointment
I'm considering the MSI Ge75 Raider hopefully you're reviewing that :D
Dariusz Cezary my temps have been running on 90 celcius because of this
17.3" is a "small footprint"??
Did you show her around..... your bedroom as well?
@Arthur Morgan
You know self-identifying is one hell of a self own, right? (hint: people often use as insult that which they find most hurtful)
Its 1 am in Perth, I was JUST about to go to sleep but not for another 15 minutes >:(
i cannot get over the Max-Q, it is such a reduction in numbers and such a deal breaker, insanely better to wait till the full card is available..
Dual channel or single channel?
can the battery be charged using the thunderbolt port using a power bank? like say i go camping etc with it ? :)
For the money, I personally thinkg 2070 version with dual channel is way to go. Its significantly cheaper without big compromise
i have an asus crosshair v formula MB with and amd fx 8370 16 gb of corsair 2133 memory and a gtx 980 case is an IN WIN 303 450$$ not a bad price ?? hit me up if you want a pic of the PC
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!
I have two questions and I cant seem to find the answer anywhere!
1) Is the GTX 1080(laptop) better than the rtx 2080 Max Q? Userbenchmark says max q is better but I think fps performance says otherwise
2) Is the rtx 2080 max q better than desktop 2060???
@@JB0lant3 well my first comment with the link got removed or something ... Check here www.gpucheck.com/nvidia-gpu-hierarchy-list-chart

How to overclock rtx 2060 on MSI ge75 8se? Please help. Thx
Mate you got Google for that, geez.
MSI has good value to money in term of specs, but poor quality in term of physical, i.e hinge quality is easy to break and crack even when we use it carefully.
I bought this one same exact model worth every $$$ !!
I'm going to buy it myself any problems please please tell me
i got 1278 on cinebench with the same cpu ! undervolt it !! ;)
2080ti desktop or 2060 laptop you decide
Hello! For 1500 euro you would buy this laptop (GS75) at 9750h + 1660Ti + 1Tb ssd and 144hz display?
Wait for the 3000 series to go out then buy at least the 2070
@@gico5835 the 3000 series will come out even for laptop in september?
Probably not until next year
I’m trying to figure out why people say max q is a scam?
2060: 16000
2070mq 80W: 16700
2070mq 90W: 18000
2080mq 80W: 19000
Desktop 2060: 20000
2070: 20500
2080mq: 20500
Desktop 2070: 24000
2080: 26000
Desktop 2080: 28000
What's worse, OEM's won't even specify whether they ship with 80w or 90w parts.
2060 and 2070mq perform within 10% of each other.
2070mq 90w and 2080mq 80w perform within 10% of each other
2070....and 2080mq 90w perform within 5% of each other.
God that gpu performance... rtx 2080 max-q = rtx 2060, how is that not false advertising for a 2080 name.
its nvidia What more do you expect?
So yeah...
Hey can you help me by making a video on..
Apex legends pc for $150
I’ve got the gs 65 stealth
Saw the 360-480p conversion 😂
No, Brian, a gaming keyboard should not have a small ctrl and a windows key, ctrl is useful for many spells in games

Expensive.... cut down of RTX 2080 performance :(
You do understand that the desktop 2080 card weights almost as much as this entire laptop right?
nice nice the People Man has spoken How meany times i haveto say A LAPTOP ITS NOT FOR GAMING!!!!!! the revuew was a really deep one an honest that what i like in the tech yes man
Not for gaming yet you get over 100 fps on most games......
The 2080 results were so dissapointing. I had a sneaky feeling that the best value for this laptop would be the 2070. But going 2080 sounds like throwing out money.
Top notch video man, overpriced to buggery and no 4K...no way.
What they don't tell you is that the hinges on the screen are made to last until about a month after your warranty and then literally snap off. Speaking from personal experience here
I think I'll stick to my 9 years old G73JH.
hello everybody!

Are you absolutely sure it's *72% sRGB* not *72% NTSC* which ≈ 100% sRGB?
I find a hard time believing a $2800 laptop is equipped with such a horrible screen. You did talk about the accuracy of colours and praised it etc. which 72% sRGB isn't worthy of any praise IMO. At 2:20 I see the chromaticity diagram, not much information though.
yeah 72% NTSC sorry about that.
@@techyescity Thanks for clarifying! :)
Christ.. screen is shaking in 90% of time of the video! MSI over last 4 years haven't learned how to make steady hinges in 17" models...
