That’s nothing. During the Downed Skyranger mission i had every single operative of the field in Overwatch. All 22 of them missed and Advent Mec. Imagine 22 well trained soldiers missing what is essentially a walking sedan… embarassing. I was not proud to call myself Commander that day.
Oh man, the difference between OW accuracy in these newer xcoms as opposed to the OG ones is night n day. My guys were all Marcus Luttrell in OW back in the day but in this one? Can’t hit a daaamn thing!
Scopes, PCS: perception and height advantage help with overwatch accuracy. Holo-targeting also applies if your grenadier shoots the same target before someone else so it's beneficial to have your grenadier on the frontline. My snipers barely ever miss overwatches from Kill Zone because of all that. I will rather bring on mission a Sgt. with +35 aim than any Col. without it, except for Rangers.

I actuallt didnt use Overwatch in my playthroughs because thos kept happening. I could surround a drop off with 6 troops on OW and theyd all miss.

That's why I don't do overwatch traps. I prefer my soldiers having the option to reposition in response to their movement.

Yep, but you see less of those since players don't tend to take those risky shots - so we only see the low percent misses, never the low percent hits.
@@danielchen1047 That should be a game mechanic. If you pull off a very difficult shot, say under 20%, you get a small but permanent aim boost.

@@SpaceMissile I guess so then again my theory is my XCOM units dress as HECU Marines from half-life so they don't miss shots as often
Haha, Standard overwatch aim really is quite terrible.
Watching my entire fully upgraded squad fumble a 70% shot made me quit the game for a few weeks ngl
