One two gallon bucket half full of nuts? Are you sure you are not just teasing them? In fairness they seem to be doing the calves fairly well. And the hay looks to be relatively soft ( good). Must say I like the look of these cattle I have never seen them in real life, look a bit like a black version of the Irish moil, but I think they are a bit bigger with more power to them than the moil, from the videos I have seen.

Thank you nicely done video. I look forward to seeing the cattle on grass in the summer. Could you explain more about this great old breed. I am a Shorthorn man myself, for 45 years, but admire all the old sensible heritage British breeds.

      Thank you, that’s very kind.
No problem, I can explain a bit more about the Gloucester breed in another video and the importance of keeping them for our heritage.
They’re a dual purpose breed that lost their place in today’s agriculture but hopefully with the work of farmers/breeders and the Gloucester Cattle Society, we can build total cattle and herd numbers again.

Liked, and subscribed. Hello from Wisconsin U.S.A
Grew up on a dairy milking holsteins. What is the daily milk production on a gloucester? Thanks.

I certainly understand helping to preserve the Gloucester, but if you're outwintering have you considered the Welsh breeds, whether Blacks, Ancient Coloured, or White Park?

Thank you! Yes, exactly that - I sometimes refer to them as beef nuts and sometime cake. Thank you, we are very proud of our cows. Our herd are beef, but in general the Gloucester breed does lean towards the dairy type more.

Why, Gloucester's, are they good meat. I know Hereford and Aberdeen Angus are good meat producers. Gloucester seem leaner? Great video thank you

Hi! Gloucesters are an old rare breed that have two uses - meat and milk. Gloucesters are used for milking and produce Single and Double Gloucester cheeses as well as nicely marbled beef. They are a much leaner animal as they tend to more of a dairy breed but still produce a good calf. On our farm Gloucesters are used to produce beef from pasture.
Thank you for the lovely feedback!
