The guy failed on the first 2 attempts for the backflip at the end of the fight. Pushed the guy walking in the octagon to dry his hands off and went for it again. Nailed it. This pretty much sums up Gaethje as a person. If he's able to walk, he's going for it.

I used to big flips off of sea walls at the beach. After about 500 or so I finallover rotated a front flip and broke my big toe lol . That's why back flips are so much easier . U land on your heels & not your big toe

Justin never ceases to amaze. He can be sleep walking and come back and win the fight. What a great fight by both men.
8:46 really feels like a big momentum shift. Michael hits Justin with some really big shots, but Justin just instantly starts walking him down again. As Michael takes a deep breath and retreats back toward the cage again, I almost sense a feeling of dread from Michael, like "I've hit this guy with everything I've got, how is he still coming?". Then it turns out to be the beginning of the end for Michael. This fight never gets old, all-time classic.
It was at 9:08 when Michael pieces him up for the final time but Gaethje won the next exchange at 9:12
Those guys were completely exhausted. Great fight and much respect for both guys.

After watching Justin for years now...he is a legend. He is one of my all time favorites.
One for the ages. Great debut. Justin , still not recovered is determined to get a back flip in off the cage. Must complete the highlight reel. .. Respect.

Hats off to Michael Johnson for making it look easy standing toe to toe with Gaethje. I would imagine that Gaethje was impressed and perplexed right out the gate when he stayed in the pocket while Johnson snuck in some blinding fast punches proving to Gaethje that he came for a war. Classic.

Can't even deny, Michael Johnson was so underrated and didn't shy from the toughest fighters in his weightclass. Justin doesn't need no introduction, this was a clash of the titans, I respect these 2 so much.
Second round. Justin was EXHAUSTED. Then Micheal got rocked and tired and Justin seen the moment and went for the finish ! That was a War! Classic fight!
What's also crazy if Michael Johnson just put in some more pressure and when in for the finish he could of beaten Justin but Justin adjusted and caught his breath and got the W

This fight was phenomenal. The boys were really laying hands and their iron chins were definitely softened for the future of their careers.

What a fight, Gaethje is extremely strong, but you can tell in his early career his precision was not developed. Now is much better on hitting his target.

This is what a win looks like when a camp comes up with a winning strategy and runs into tremendous opposition and while making subtle changes, sticking with attacking that lead right leg and keeping the fight standing. Hats off to both fighters and congratulations to this young man in his debut
