I don't say it enough, but I love how they realized at one point they could do Star Trek and keep the comedy bits here and there. Definitely one of my favorite shows
I was rather disappointed how they changed the tone of the series completely and removed the comedy entirely. This is the type of "humour" that you find just the sam in the original Star Trek series. But the genuine Seth McFarlane comedy disappeared completely. They rather dealt with rather serious social and contemporary issues and social subtext, or focussed on story telling and drama, but comedy was no longer part of it. I wonder what the drivers were behind that decision. May be the humour was no longer sustainable. Does anyone know why?

I liked this scene so much I decided to watch the entire episode. Oh man, Season 1 seemed to have a lot of legit laugh out loud moments, more so than later seasons. Scenes like the prank war between Gordon & Isaac, the screen convo between the Captain and his parents, and a lot more of Norm MacDonald (RIP). Like Dinosaurs, some of the morality storylines seemed heavy handed though.
I admire Isaac's restraint, especially considering he was fully capable of pulling the guys arm off & hitting him round the head with the bloody end 😂😅!
My favorite line in this episode: Sam: That's straight bourbon honey Charley: Yeah? And I'm from Texas. Love how Anne put a little bit of herself in that scene. Either great writing by Seth or a good ad lib

Cromartie High School said it the best (even if it was Wrong Genre Savy in that case). This nerdy kid accidentally ends up in the roughest delinquent high school. But one of them watches him for a bit and says what amounts to “when you see a bunny that goes into the lions den… that must be one super bad ass bunny.” He actually was just a nerd with a good poker face but it was still a great statement on the trope.
So funny story my Dad ones told me about an friend of his: They were stopping at a bar which just happened to be a place a group of bikers liked to hang out. Supposedly rather nice guys but build and dressed like you think bikers look like. Now those bikers had an armwrestling competition going on when my dad and his friend were there and said friend asked if he can join. Two things according, to my dad: The friend was private rather soft spoken and outside his job he usually looked like an average desk worker. After he had beaten the bikers he revealed what his job was: He was a surgeon. More specific one specialized in heart surgery. How did this help him win in arm wrestling? Well in order to work on the heart a surgeon has to cut open the ripcage of the patient and push the bones aside. And a human ripcage isn't exactly made of jello. The bikers took at like sportsman and with humor by the way.
I run Eastside Arm club of Michigan. It's an armwresting club. Our strongest guy on the team is a cardiologist of some sort, i always forget the exact name of the position he works. He scrubs in with the surgeons and works a catheter into the arterys. Anyway, without any training he went to the #2 spot in Michigan in the novice class. What a weird coincidence. Lol

But there is still alot you have to do with your hand. inclouding going with your finger under the sternum toremove the connective tissue befor you even can cut the rip cage itself. And after the cut someone has to spread the bones enough so you can actually put the rip spreader in place. Of course, how (relatively) easy or hard it is to do that depends on where and what is operated on and how the cut has to be applied.
So did they just use the bikes for a few hours, then return them to the nice gentlemen? Or did they keep them forever? Don't leave me hanging, Orville.
Yes this is really the things happen in the biker bar they just chilling enjoy beers, music and talk about their latest ride and they just making noise whenever anyone challenge for a game

I think that when this BIG GUY saw ISAAC he overconfident and didn't remember that wise phrase ; " don't underrate your enemy". one of the most beautiful scenes of this true MASTERPIECE : THE ORVILLE.
Well, their Strongest Guy DID just get beat with very little effort. It would not be a smart move to then try and back out of a bet when Isaac has already proven to beat their best.
