I love the way you all us lovingly to the chaos using EVERYTHING in our fridge! It’s awesome!!! I always think what would Paul and Emmy do? Always saves us $$$. Thank you both 😘
I absolutely LOVE these use up the “bottom of the barrel “ ideas! I’m so guilty of wasting the last 1/5-1/4 of things. This is such positive encouragement 😃 if you haven’t watched all Emmys past video as, I encourage you to as she has a lot of these sprinkled in
Good morning, Frugal Buddy. It’s so pleasant to get up in the morning, check my texts from my kids and grandkids, and make myself a cup of coffee and watch a couple of your older videos. Great buys on your groceries from this haul. Yesterday,3/10/22, I picked up whole chickens from Kroger for .99 lb and so was excited to get milk on sale for .87 per half gallon. I bought 5 and put 3 in the freezer. Milk has gone up here in Vicksburg, MS, to $3.99 gal. Too high! Our gas has steadily gone up from $3.03 a month ago to $3.99 this week. I’m so happy we three sisters are content to stay home with the prices on everything. I’ve stopped making huge hauls from Costco and Sam’s Club. Hard on the pocket book and our waistlines. I’m strictly staying to our $180 month budget with 20% of that going to stocking up the freezer and pantry. Thanks for your continued frugality and encouragement. 🥰🥰
Your video is refreshing. I like what you did to use up your bits of vegetables and fruits left before grocery day. Also, your savings for food was impressive. Thanks so much! 🙂
Our new rule is if its not freezable and is not used before it goes bad,we do not ever bring it into the house again. For what?we know its not being used.why waste what little money we have on things we will not use?
This video reminded me that I had some cabbage left over from Saint Patrick's. I made a coleslaw too. 👍 I love how you are really on it when it comes to using up what is in the fridge and trying to a live zero food waste lifestyle. Love it.
Hi Emmy- I’m so excited to find your channel. When I saw that video that you and hubby retired at 55- I clicked on it right away. We are about 45, so we are so excited to learn from you and your hubby. I am very excited to here and see your a Disney fan too- I am a huge one and wanted to know if you can do a video if you get to go to the Disney world parks. How often do you guys get to go?
Welcome Annie! So glad you found us too!! Yes, huge Disney fan here. We try to get to Disney World in Florida as often as we can. Usually about every other year now. Thank you so much for being a part of our channel.
Awesome food haul!! It's getting warmer now so I can clean my 2 freezers in the garage. I'll be able to sort out what I have and what I need to buy. It's almost like a treasure hunt, lol. Have a super week, Emmy & Paul❣
Freezing the lemon wedges is a game changer. I used to juice and freeze them in ice cubes, but this is so much easier and you use as much or as little as needed. Amazing idea.
My favorite cole slaw recipe is quite similar to yours: I cut the cabbage by hand in very small stripes and an apple as well. Then I toast some walnuts in a pan without fat, let them cool and chop them up. The dressing consists in mayo, some maple syrup, a little bit of pepper and some celery salt. Soooo good!
So glad to see another video, always makes me excited about saving money, you always have great advice and good food ideas. So glad Spring is here looking so forward to the warmer weather! God Bless you Both!
How come Rachel Ray or the Today Show haven't contacted you for a segment on how to run a household for less but still live abundantly? Never knew the freezer trick for lemon and limes, I love learning these types of things. I already cannot wait for the next video!
I’m so glad you got the stains out of the tablecloth. It’s so beautiful. I have a couple of towels that are stained. I’m going to see if the local dollar tree had oxy clean to get the stains out. 😊
I loved this! Full of fantastic content. Those lemons 🍋 😍 what a beautiful gift, and I am going to use that tip for saving them. I really enjoyed the inspiration for the tidbits leftover. You both are so good at sharing this lifestyle in a way that allows others to keep learning🙏❤️
Hi Emmy Love your idea for the cabbage... What I like to use fresh green cabbage for is on tacos...I use it instead of lettuce...have you ever tried that? It is so good. Love seeing your grocery hauls....we eat very similarly.... not 100% but vet similar. Love your freezing tips. gardening tips...and some of the recipes. Thank you for sharing and thank you for sharing your lovely views... I am so happy spring is here too. Love hearing the birds chirp. I also love your idea of making your own sandwich meat....I am guilty of buying processed lunch meat..and you are so right...it is all about convenience, and honestly..I never really paid much attention to how expensive it really is...and honestly...it isn't even very good. SOOO tomorrow..I am going to buy a couple of hams since they are on sale for Easter and I will slice and freeze them for sandwiches. I will also do the same for chicken and Turkey breast. Bake it slice it freeze it. I'm sure it will make for much better and much cheaper Sandwhiches. Thank you.
Preserving lemons is a great idea. You can take this idea a bit further and really waste nothing. I scrub the lemons and dry them well. The first step is to zest them all and freeze the zest in an airtight jar. Then I halve them and use a $3 thrift store electric juicer to get all the juice then freeze that in ice cube trays to store as cubes of lemon juice (also limes and oranges). Then I prep some of the peels for facials and the rest for flavoring citrus water in the fridge. I love a fruit acid lemon peel facial a few times a week. Rub the lemon peel over face, neck, hands, elbows, any spots, leave ten minutes then shower as usual. As a result of a lifetime of this practice I'm in my 60s with no age spots and hardly any wrinkles. A nearly free fruit acid treatment from lemons I buy anyway.
I love the idea of freezing lemons and limes. I’m going to get lemons this week and give it a try. Yes to zero food waste. If you’re throwing away food it’s like throwing away money. Your Easter dinner will be delicious!! Hi to Paul and Dixie!!
Singing my song on cheese/tomato sandwich! Part of a sharp cheese block, a little Jewish rye bread and a tomato about to go bad. Yummy sandwiches for 2 days 😁!
I had no idea you could freeze lemons or limes! I love to put a scoop of ice cream on top of a waffle, so good! Those Disney themed waffles are super cute.
It would have been wrong for you to pass up the waffles! :) I usually freeze my lemons and limes, but it never occurred to me to slice them first! LOL I had been freezing them whole! Thanks
My Grandma would slice up the cucumber and a little onion with a little bit of mayo and we would have that as a side for dinner to this day it's one of my favorite sides :) .
I found this at the perfect time! I have 6-7 lemons that I didn't know what to do with! I have used so many of your tips. I changed my printer to draft mode and printed out the expense tracker just recently. These will save me money for sure. Simple and brilliant! Thank you!!!!!
Hey Dixie Belle....Raisin and Rachel say hello!! Your hack about lemons and limes is fantastic. Thanks....your lemons look amazing! Btw I can't believe how cheap the food is in your area....
Ooo those frozen lemon and lime wedges are a brilliant idea, especially for the upcoming warmer weather - pop them into plain iced tea or water to keep it cool and add flavor.
That's a great haul Emmy and Paul 👍 And thanks for reminding me that I have some veggies that need to be made into soup in the next couple of days 😋😀 Big hugs to Dixie too 🥰
Actually, thats not bad.replenish the pantry items, restock the freezer.theres supposedly.a food shortage coming, and food prices are expected to skyrocket. So,thats not bad.you could add tomato, cucumber, etc into a pasta salad
You inspired me to fry up some cabbage that had seen better days, an old onion and some kielbasa for a great dinner this evening. Threw in a small amount of leftover sauerkraut and a leftover baked potato too. Delicious. New subscriber here from NJ
Emmy...How did you know? I have part of a head of cabbage leftover from St. Patty's Day that needs to be eaten. As soon as I'm done typing you this note, I'm going to make your slaw. I love ideas on how to use up bits of food.

Mickey waffles! Yum! I bought Kashi waffles last week and was unimpressed to say the least. I am usually okay with high fiber waffles and pancakes. These were so bitter! But I thought of your resolve not to throw perfectly good food away. Two more to make it through!
Hi Emmy and Paul. This is just a "test" comment. I think something might be wrong with my computer. I have sent 3 comments on this wonderful video so far but my computer deletes them all. Enjoy your week.
Thank you for another fun video!!!😃 It is soooooo windy here too....looks like snow with all the white tree blossoms everywhere.....East(NY)and West(CA) winds!💨💨💨💨💨💨💨 Looked like a good coleslaw recipe...if I liked cabbage?! Your videos on the back burner fire now, Just wanted to say, you are a quality person, I can tell.... Wish we could hang out. !!!! Jackie.... Minocqua, Wi.......
Emmy, can you film making the dish you mentioned with ricotta and mozzarella for Easter? We are desperate for something different for Easter and this would be something different for sure! 🐰
Look up a recipe for Health Salad. It uses a lot of different vegetables and it’s a not mayonnaise based dressing. I’ve also been cleaning up my garden this past week.
Amy we want to thank you so much for the beautiful Easter card! It was so kind of you to think of us! You are such a blessing! Hope your Easter was wonderful! Thank you again so much!!
Hi. Do you happen to have a recipe for ricotta pie? My friend has one that is made with ricotta and rice, but she will not divulge the recipe. Thank you in advance. Love your channel.
Hi both I love these kind of videos emmy so much fun i absolutely love food hauls I seem to have my zero food waste cracked now I've never wasted food but all my fresh produce seems to be used up in the week now I'm buying less and falling back on my frozen veg if needed Here in the UK frozen is very reasonable Big hugs to dixi xx❤❤
I will be doing that great lemon tip in the morning. Hope I can do it with lemons that have been zested. I have three of them. We are slowly warming up here to, along with the rain of course.
Great buys at Shoprite again. Now I have to go back. I saw the online flyer for this week and want to get the flour and sugar at those great prices and a couple chickens for my lil freezer. I already have one in there so it's going to be crowded. But I have a lot of room in the freezer part of my refrigerator. Just have to juggle some things around. I am bad about not using up cucumbers too. Can cream cheese, ricotta and sour cream be frozen? Loving the spring weather too. I have a lot of branches and sticks to pick up because we had 2 nights in the past week and half of super, super strong winds. The worst ever since I've been here. Blew off a strip of siding! Got it fixed already. I HATE the wind. Give me rain and snow, but no wind, thankyouverymuch! Have a nice nite!
Sis, creamy dairy like those you mention tend to separate when you freeze them. Basically they loose their creaminess. Even after defrosting and stirring sour cream is watery. Cream cheese tends to get crumbly. I freeze hard cheeses (cheddar, Monterey Jack etc.) and mozzarella with wonderful results though! Have a great week!
Good to see another couple utilizing leftover cucumber. Me and my hubby do cucumber, thin sliced onion, quartered tomato and Italian dressing. Yummy 😋
Sounds great! Try so hard not to waste food! Thanks for watching!
I love the way you all us lovingly to the chaos using EVERYTHING in our fridge! It’s awesome!!! I always think what would Paul and Emmy do? Always saves us $$$. Thank you both 😘

Can I be honest? We tried they Mickey waffles...a bit flavorless :( Oh well, we will eat them and they are not bad just lack any real flavor!
Since the lemons are organic I’d probably zest and dry the peel first
Great tip Joyce!
I bought whole wheat bread at Doller tree this morn. Very fresh
That's so great Alli!
Funny I was looking for a way to use up my leftover cabbage!
LOL! There you go...it's really yummy!
Thanks for the great video, I didn’t know you could freeze lemons.
Yes you can!
Leftover cucumber is great for a little bit of tzatziki (and you still get that great dill cucumber combo)
Oh yes agree totally!

Absolutely! It's almost like a very thick rich quiche but SO delicious!
I love your white hen on a nest I have the same white one and 6 other colors! I love them!!!
Oh how lovely Gail! Yes, They are so beautiful!!
I'm going to try your recipe. Great zero food waste ideas.
Thanks so much Mary!
Good food haul! I moved to a city and am still suffering from food price shock! Your prices remind me of the "good old days" where I used to shop!😳
Yes, we are very blessed to live in the "country" and have the lower food prices Sandra!
EMMY IVE MADE THE SLAW LIKE THAT I WOULD OF GRADED CUCUMBER AND APPLE WITH EVERYTHING I WOULD OF TASTED OUT OF THIS WORLD (ITS FRUGAL LIKE ME)
EMMY TRY IT NEXT TIME!! HAVE A GREAT NITE
Sounds so good! Thanks!
That’s how I make coleslaw. I always add an apple!
It adds such a sweet flavor that compliments the slaw nicely!
Look up a recipe for Health Salad. It uses a lot of different vegetables and it’s a not mayonnaise based dressing.
I’ve also been cleaning up my garden this past week.
Thanks sounds great!
Amy we want to thank you so much for the beautiful Easter card! It was so kind of you to think of us! You are such a blessing! Hope your Easter was wonderful! Thank you again so much!!
Hey Dixie, love from Ireland 🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮

Hi. Do you happen to have a recipe for ricotta pie? My friend has one that is made with ricotta and rice, but she will not divulge the recipe. Thank you in advance. Love your channel.
LOL! She won't share? I'll get you one for sure.

I seem to have my zero food waste cracked now
I've never wasted food but all my fresh produce seems to be used up in the week now
I'm buying less and falling back on my frozen veg if needed
Here in the UK frozen is very reasonable
Big hugs to dixi xx❤❤
Thanks for sharing Paula!! We have been using frozen veggies a lot too! Less waste for sure!
❤❤
I will be doing that great lemon tip in the morning. Hope I can do it with lemons that have been zested. I have three of them. We are slowly warming up here to, along with the rain of course.
Yes, Spring has finally sprung! Thanks for watching Tina!
@@FrugalMoneySaver thanks!
Would love to have that recipe....just a video suggestion
