I am so impressed with how Michaela DePrince handled this interview; intelligent, and mature. She is so incredibly poised. The interviewer asked questions that were so entirely disrespectful, and extremely narrow minded, inviting others to see through his limited lens. I feel sorry for him, and hope for social change that allows for greater reflection about our social location and how it informs how we see things allowing us to be more careful with our questions for people. Thank-you doesn't begin to express my appreciation for you, Michaela DePrince, you're an inspiration!!!
I thought I was the only one that saw that... very narrow-minded and kept interrupting her and just very intrusive I would have pumped the breaks... but you know what that's what they want to see another reason to call her an angry black woman. ugh
Micaela Mabinty de Prince and her mother are giving this sick world a great healing. As a ten year old ballet magazine inspired a three year old orphan to rise above the horrors of her life, now her story flows into our despairing humanity. We too now have a vision by which we can rise and dance with the angels. Thank You, God of Grace and glory, for showing us how impossible dreams come true
A remarkable young lady, and an exceptional story. A complete inspiration to everyone everywhere. We love your courage, fortitude and amazing talent. Absolutely well done !!
The candidness of her answers in this interview are...... as real as a straight punch in the face. The reality of her experience is so powerful to hear. Really appreciate her bravery and openness
Ms Michaela is truly a wonderful human being and an extraordinary dancer. He on the other hand is inquisitive and nudges her to tell her own story. He nudges her in an insensitive manner. Her definition of art is refreshing.
This little Lady has inspired me to find grace in every moment. I cussed at this reporter twice with his ignorant questions. Where do they find these idiots for tv? Salute Madam. You are an inspiration. I pray many blessings on your life and that peace comes and stays.
i love to see a movie made by her story.here in au they have 2 samalian men brought in exchange for asylum seekers with trump.these men killed many with mesheties.they are living here in au amoung us.they must be the debrils which she talks about in her book.I reccamend that book was an amazing book.
An amazing interview. I'm so sorry to have heard about this amazing woman/artist/African today, and to sadly hear about her passing. Her spirit lives on; Long live Michaela DePrince.
R.I.P you came into the world to Bless us with your Dance and made it a worldwide experience as the Gods knew you were not made for this world for long😢 Stay well ❤
As a little girl, my first sight of black dancers and ballerinas in particular was the Dance Theatre of Harlem. They came to my elementary school and performed The Firebird suite. I was mesmerized! I never forgot that . I think I was seven years old. The arts are so important for children. And black boys and girls need to see role models to know that careers in these fields are an option for them.
She is very smart and intelligent she knows how to answer all questions 👋👋👋 may God help you to fulfill your wishes yes everybody deserve a better life
i am so bless i have my problems. my ups n downs. i deal with a learning disorder. n recently i lost my mom. n my fam was not the best. but u never know what someone might b going through.
I really feel immense pride for you, Michaela! It takes so much courage for you to do what you do, and I know your journey has been so hard, but your dancing is just fantastic! I’m really happy to have a way to watch your performances here on TH-cam, and every time i see you and hear you speak, I’m so amazed by your beauty!!
Poor girl, she clearly didn't want to talk about these traumatic events of her life. The interviewer was extremely irritating. She did incredible regardless. Wishing her family and friends so much power and strength.
Why is the interviewer focusing on her past? Why not concentrate on who she is now and how well she has overcome her past. She is a beautiful woman now inside and out! Great Mom for teaching her to overcome her past life impossiblities and claiming her glorious future!!!!!😁
PRAISE GOD for this Beautiful Soul that will be missed but Never forgotten 🙌🏼❤ Michaela DePrince - R.I.P. 🕊️🕯️Your Legacy will live on ♾️ to Inspire Future Generations of Ballerina's to come 🙌🏼❤💪🏼 PSALM 46:10...🙌🏼✝️
not crazy about the style of this interviewer. He almost seems to want to convince her of something negative, even chuckling at one point at the fact that so to speak she wants to go on in this world that is so different from her, and putting her in an almost apologetic position. Although she handled it beautifully, with dignity and poise. Obviously a very intelligent and mature girl.
Rest in peace, beautiful and wonderfully gifted Michaela, and her adoptive mother. My deepest condolences to her adoptive family, and her friends. May God bless her adoptive family.
The MOST HIGH KNOWS All... Right Judgement will be served where deserved. Sometimes what seems like Blessings can be more mess but in a different form🤔🤔🤔 She is surviving as a successful ballerina... In continual pain and that may be Her new coping mechanism with what may be still aparent in Her life. May Our CREATOR be Her GUIDE🙏🙏🙏☝☝☝❣❣❣💕💕💕
Extraordinary story. You are a role model and an ambassador to war child. All the evil nightmare you went through are sunk. Come to Africa and prove to them there is no evil child and that every child deserves to be happy.
He sounds a bit harsh, she’s beautiful inside and out and not once did sound like he felt even an once of sympathy for what she’s been through, he couldn’t Even pretend to feel anything. Will you go back as an African?🤔RIP beautiful 🙏🏾
That interviewer is getting on my nerves. She watched a person get open, she go back we SHE’s ready. She’s only 22, ease off the pressure. Let her live her life for once. I wouldn’t give that Uncle any money.
Why is he pushing her to give detail. She just passed away today and after seeing this I’m wondering if she took her life. There is no cause given yet. Heartbreaking
North East or south West Home is the Best... She`s African. ....... its only an African who knows.. Home is Best as in... she might never have domicile in West Africa, but when she visits. Its Home! with all its " ish" ( Please listen to a musical group called "Sauti Sol" ... AFRICA).. I cannot criticize Stev/ BBC because they are socialized different...i bet this was one of interviews he dint wink a blink, that night.
Oh my god, I have never been so convinced that I am witnessing an evil weasel! " Will you go back as an African?" Does that even make sense? Jeez, Michaela, you are a lady, a real lady. Congratulations on your spirit and artistry and you have a huge and warm following. Never never feel alone.
I'd say her life is a testimony, they even cut her stomach yet God kept her alive they wrote her off but they forget God was and he's still the one with the pencil ✏️ she came from zero to hero, there's is nothing God can not do.
My Wife And I Adore Michaela and Mia!!! We Saw Her On The Commercial That is Shown In America! It’s So Funny And I Hope Everyone gets a chance to see it!!! What A Life Experience !!!!
Margaret Nyamulu he is just fascinated by her storu. Also his time is limited and he has to ask her a fixed numbet of questions...you know nothing about journalism.
TheBooty28 ..then he missed out. I hope he doesn't say something defferent out there. If it's time thing Then he should have bought the book , read it and give someone else that short air time he had😞.
You can tell the interviewer is a decent person but I feel so uncomfortable with him the whole time like he's always trying to steer in his direction instead of just letting it flow and go into the direction of where it wants to naturally go. He would be the very last to know he was condescending because it is insidious. Keep in mind the world is a patriarchy still. Thank God we're getting out of that and unleashing the purity, beauty and power that is woman onto the world! I'm American and we're suffering torment over rump.
It felt like he was trying to put her in a racial / cultural box rather than celebrate who she is based on her individual achievements. She handled herself and him very well. The camera was positioned to capture her being emotional and she demanded by her responses his eventual direction.
“Would you go back to Sierra Leone as an African?” Really?!! Please tell me What being an African is! You sound like a birther apologist. Europe is approximately the size of the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC). Are Italians culturally the same as the Irish just because they are Caucasian and on the same continent? Is culture a racial construct? You are an enlightened journalist representing the BBC. She was Adopted at four from a war torn country in a flux and raised by a loving white American family. You question presupposes that white New Zealanders, Canadians, Americans, Australians have similar culture based on race. You are better than that.
@@ForPeace14 but they also say asthma after an intense workout.. she intended to go back to Africa and teach (1) He asked her in the end if she was black???? also see @19:33 when he con'td to try and break her spirit nearly bringing her to tears! He also said Ballerina's are supposed to be white when she mentioned pink tights! He is a snobby dyed in the wool racist asshole!
I could listen to her all day! She is beautiful, speaks so eloquently, with grace and poise!
OMG! I just love this woman. Her story is incredible. What a remarkable woman she has become.

What A true testament of courage, determination & mental fortitude. Such an inspiration. Great interview!
Even though the pain lies in her memory, she was able to manage through courage, in not shedding a tear. Very courageous and beautiful young woman.
A remarkable young lady, and an exceptional story. A complete inspiration to everyone everywhere. We love your courage, fortitude and amazing talent. Absolutely well done !!
You're just incredible. I am so proud of you girl.

Wonderful articulate young lady who,s triumph over adversity is incredible.
Thank her adoptive parents too, they did a wonderful job. Such a lovely girl.

Iam Love McNill Very often, I find that British interviewers are so insensitive in their approach, that's why I can't stand Piers Morgan or this jerk!
Rest in peace, beautiful Michaela. Now, you can dance your heart out in heaven.
This story is going to be an Oscar winning movie with Lupitha Nyongo as Michaela.
Ohh that would be amazing!

The fire that you went through has made you an incredible person!!
Completely true
To interviewer: You are very intrusive with your questions.

Children need role models .. children are not interested in colour
Your spirit radiates courage, strength and endurance. You are an amazing inspiration to humanity. Peace & Love ❤️
Her family must be devastated 💔
Rest In Peace Mebinty 🕊️

Just simply a beautiful young woman!! Stunning!❤❤
Born to be a miracle. This interviewer is so negative. Sweetie you make history. You make me see how powerful God is.
Why does it make you see how powerful God is? If you don't mind me asking.
THANK YOU MACHAELA FOR BEING AN INSPIRATION TO ALL YOUNG BLACK PEOPLE.
She is an inspiration to all women ..
Wrong she is an aspiration to all young people .. her parents are an aspiration to all people not all white people
We have angles on this world like the parents who adopted this girl

The interviewer asked great questions.... He touched on all of her life experiences including racism. Michaela is one of a kind.
He is terrible
She’s amazing. He’s an idiot. She demonstrated patience, wit, and class.
I didn't notice.. just a Wonderful Ballerina
🇿🇦✌️❤️woooow I am touched 😢
Strong girl
To all the comments about the interviewer, isn’t the show called Hardtalk???
*sigh- here goes another rubber tree plant!
Extraordinary young lady will never be forgotten ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I feel the interviewer is condescending. Like trying to steer her to different paths, and interrupt her...
Hold her in her moms and family in you loving hands dea Lord

The last question got me angry!!! ...will you go back as an African ?? Lol this interviewer is not alright!!!
Exactly .. he is a self indulgent twit
@@barryellis5167 I agree so sad though

So beautiful.
The interviwer is a very light weight man.More intellectual dexterity and professionalism on his part would be much appreciated.
So true .. typical BBC though
What an angel❤

I so agree with you!! What an asinine question. That was not "Hard Talk" that was condescending and lacking in understanding and empathy.
is he really? He could not stand her "nobility!"
What does that mean "will you go back as an African? She's going back as herself..... SERIOUSLY!!!!????
Agreed, he tells on himself by asking that question.
I think he conducted the interview reasonably ok, but I did think that question was a bit odd
Rest in peace, beautiful lady. I believe that you are safe in the arms of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
Michaela! you are so beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
I love her so much
Why is this interviewer interrupting her as she talks?😊
That is HARDTALK. I do not think it is personal. HARDTALK is designed to turn on the heat at FULL BLAST, on the interviewee.
Amazing young woman.
Someone need to investigate this black ballerina death😢
Yes why is no one asking , what happened to her????
@thebrooksgirls5493 please look up the announcements online. They say she passed from a previously undiagnosed heart condition.
