Consider the battle of Midway: the US had to use outdated aircraft to defend the island and attack the carriers. Virtually all aircraft defending Midway were shot down by the superior Zero as were the torpedo bombers attacking the carriers. Over 100 aircraft and their pilots were lost with almost no losses to the enemy. The US torpedoes also ran deep and often detonated early or failed to explode on impact. The manufacturing facility was basically considered a "jobs program" and blamed "operator error." It was staunchly and stubbornly defended by the Bureau of ordinance and a senator from the torpedo manufacturing district. Of over 1400 torpedoes fired in 1942, only 109 ships were sunk. The fix was quite easy but didn't make it to the fleet until late 1943. Defense industries often need "disruption" and Palmer Luckey is doing a great service by providing that disruption.

@@joesanpatricio794 The US is the second largest manufacturer globally (behind China) If you want to see come crazy data, you should Google US manufacturing growth. It’s insane at the rate that segment is growing. Just past 2008 levels! A few analysts are estimating upwards of 200 billion a MONTH is being spent on new manufacturing plants in the US 🤯 Everyone is trying to pull out of China. We all realized they aren’t a trusted partner, and when Covid hit and destroy supply chains.. a lot of people woke up to how stupid it is to ship things across the world when they could be built at home. Major moves being made globally, my prediction is China’s basically done. The US will continue to ‘decouple / nearshore’ a lot of its work, which will help bolster our economy while hurting our adversaries.

I would like to understand how profitable this implementation is. Google says that one such reusable drone costs 400-500 thousand, but it is not clear how much it costs to recharge it. A rocket for a stinger, for example, costs 25,000+, i.e. Instead of one launch of such a drone, you can launch 8-10 missiles from a stinger.

The one thing that will definitely be decisive is whether the Free World has more people that are more genius working for us or not and whether we give these people the Freedom and funding to do their thing. The decisive factor behind that is education, obviously. This will determine whether there is a Free World or not.

@@LostAnFound Palmer Lucky is playing moneyball with the military. His goal isn't to just sell stuff to the military, its to sell stuff that had software being amongst the first concern in the product. Quite a lot of military aquisitions still consider software a secondary thing.
A lot of the drones in Ukraine for instance take up more than one operator to use at a time, Anduril is selling drones yes, but they're also selling a management layer which has a small team able to run an manage a whole fleet of drones, simultaneously.
He's selling the ability for militaries to use drones like a real time strategy game. A capability i have not seen publicly shown off in a way that is actually used.
The British military is interested in his product, the US military is interested in his product, Ukraine wants his product. They wanted it before the war even started. The US border patrol is already using his product.
The massive uptake in interest in what he is selling, is, I suspect a reaction to learning lessons from the fighting in Ukraine.
