I have this Zeiss 55. Great lens. There are great options in Sigma 50F2 and 65F2 Contemporary I series as well which are newer and less CA. Also better built with AFMF switch and aperture ring with all metal construction.
I have the Sony ZEISS Sonnar 55mm 1.8 ZA, I can highly recommend it for 2023 and into the future, at my local store here in november 2023, you can get it used for US$358 (included taxes).
thanks for the feedback ! I tried this lens and I'm thinking of not buying it because of the chromatic aberration, in some situations you can see it a lot on video, do you have any suggestions for the use you've had with it
It's not perfect and yes you can get some chromatic aberration, unfortunately there is no quick solution. But you can increase Aperture Value and NOT film wide open (1.8) , also you can try to avoid high contrast scenes. Those tips should help you to minimize chromatic aberration.
I have it, i like how it`s build and how small it is. However the picture quality is overrated, busy bokeh, lots of ca, not sharp wide open and typical yellowish old zeiss colors. I think of trading it in, it`s showing it`s age.
It's not perfect by any means, but considering the size and the price! You just can't beat it. CA - is noticeable wide open, but personally I don't mind it. I'm interested to try Sony 40mm f2.5 and 50mm f2.5 - they should be pretty good in terms of CA and sharpness, but unfortunately quite slower. I also have larger lenses that will definitely outperform all of those, but when it comes to everyday carry I prefer smaller size.
@@serge.y I gig that, to bad about the f2.5, i really like the size. Image quality is rather nice too. I have some Zeiss Batis lenses, they`re not that fast or sharp but render really nice.
i have and agree.... I prefer it over my Summilux v 2 witch is hard for me to really say, I use both on a a9.
I have this Zeiss 55, great metal design. And I like it because it's beautiful and has the zeiss brand
Beautiful lens! ❤️

thank you, those are great options! Never tried 65mm, looks like a very fun lens to try. Compact size 🤌🏻
+1 for the Sigma 65mm. It isolates subjects better than a 50mm while being less constraining than an 85mm
Hi Serge, thanks for sharing!
My pleasure! Thank you for the comment!

That’s the beauty! Cheap, small and the most important quality!
Very nice production! Looks very professional.
Thank you very much!

@@serge.y Thanks for the feedback, I have to think if it's worth it for me
look at the new 50mm f1.4 GM, it's more expensive but a really good lens!
@@serge.y Is this a great lens for beginner photographer? Thanks 😊
