- When ghostly pirate Davy Jones comes to collect a blood debt, Capt. Jack Sparrow must find a way to avoid his fate lest his soul be damned for all time. Nevertheless, the wily ghost manages to interrupt the wedding plans of Jack's friends, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann.

Yeah there was a real sweet spot at the turn of the century where productions still invested in quality set designs and technology got to a point where CGI could really fill the gaps to make the stories all that more fantastical.

Will thinks there’s a love triangle. There isn’t. Elizabeth loves Will, end of story. She’s loved him since they first met as children on that ship. The kiss between her and Sparrow, and all the buildup you see, is just a trick on her part. First, she’s trying to get Jack to realize that he’s a good man, and then, at the end, it’s to handcuff him so the crew won’t be in danger anymore.
She might love Will and still have a crush/attraction towards Jack. Life is complicated.

Indeed, the kiss was nothing more than a trick so she could cuff Jack to the ship. But Will happened to see the kiss out of context, and is now questioning her motives and her love for him. She has no romantic feelings for Jack, but Will isn't so sure about that right now. I think she's sorry for what she did, but now she's caught in her own web of lies.

These two movies and the next one are one of the greatest trilogies ever made, it's amazing how they get better with each one.
Second one is the best imo. Third one feels like all over the place at times even tho it has some all-time great moments

The compass points to what you want most in the world. Jack cant use it to find the chest, because for him it doesnt point to the chest.. it points to the black pearl.
Normally, in this case Jack actually doesnt know what he wants, so the needle spins like a top.

I always thought the compass was pointing to himself. Which is why it spins around in circles no matter where he is. Similar to how the compass spun in circles when Elizabeth was sitting on the chest.
Also why he's so surprised when the compass points towards the pearl at the end. Why would he be surprised if it points that direction if the pearl is what he wants most? He was expecting it to spin in circles again.

I remember the theater being floored by Davy Jones and the Kraken. The Kraken and the Flying Dutchman were my favorite parts of the movie.
Barbosa is my favorite character in this series and his return in this movie is always enjoyable to watch ❤

I love this saga so bad!! So glad you pursue it and I cannot wait to see your react to the third one, which is (in my opinion) one of the most entertaining movie ever made (the intro guys, omg!!!). One last thing, I encourage you to really enjoy the third film, because the next two films, four and five, are not as good as the trilogy.

Mair is right about the climax, both movies got shot at the same time if i remember correctly
back when disney was quality cinema, and now its not.
Fun Fact: Nobody actually knew that Geoffrey Rush was coming back as Barbossa at the end of the movie, so those are their real surprise reactions to seeing him on set!
There's also a post-credits scene in every movie, and for this one, it shows that the dog became the new leader of the tribe.

Davey Jones is some of the best CGI in cinema
It's cut from the final films, but it was actually supposed to be explained in At World's End I think that Jack's beef with Davy Jones began when he was a young privateer for the British. He was Captain of a vessel that was contracted by Lord Beckett to deliver slaves, which he set free. At some point, Beckett caught Jack and branded him a pirate, terminated his status, and later on Sunk Jack's ship and killed Jack. Jack bargained with Davy Jones to raise the ship(the black pearl) from the depths and let him captain it. Jack craved freedom after his excommunication, so he became a pirate. At some point, his first mate, Barbosa, turned on Jack; but now, 13 years later, Jones is back to collect Jack's soul.
Like I said though, it's cut from the final films, and then it's retconned out of existence with that shitty ass last movie.
I love the reactions guys keep them coming! I liked the 4 first movies then i still enjoyed it but it went downhill from there.

I'd like to believe that Pintel and Ragetti used to have Jack as a captain when he first captained The Black Pearl, before Barbossa committed a mutiny against him. However it's not confirmed if they were a part of the original crew on board of The Black Pearl, it is just known that Jack recruited a bunch of people from Tortuga, including Barbossa and Bootstrap Bill. So I believe they do have some form of a connection with him and have sailed under him before. Plus they began respecting him more when they sailed under him in this movie, also they had nowhere else to go.
The first ship to be taken by the Kraken was a small 2 man boot likely sloop ( im not a boat expert) the second ship was larger like a brig and took longer to sink and the Black perl is a Galleon
People who watch this movie nowadays will never understand the singular gasp of confusion and excitement that rang throughout the entire movie theater as Barbossa walked down those steps at the end. EVERYONE was losing their minds as the credits rolled
I also think this is the best movie of the trilogy ☠️ 🦜 🗡️ ⚓

remember on the first movie, after Norrington purposed to Elizabeth and she fainted and fell of the cliff.. she fell past Captain Jack telling those two idiot guards a story, he said "..and then they made me their chief!" He was talking about those cannibals on that Island.

What made you guys go with a white table and backdrop? Its so bright, any viewer running dark mode must find this very hard to sit thru. Why not go with something that has a more pleasant visual appearance. Any darker color would be much appreciated 🙏

Calypso brought barbossa back alive. She is the godess of the sea who is trapped to the human form of 'Te Dalma' by the pirate lords with the help of Davy Jones (which she does not know he helped them). Davy jones and calypso where in love and she gave him the job of traveling the dead of the sea to another world and he will be able to step on land 1 in every 10 years. After his 10 years calypso was not waiting for davy and he trapped her in the human form of Te Dalma. She cannot bring Jack back because he is locked in Davy Jones Locker, barbossa was just dead. The monkey is still cursed because in the credits scene of POTC 1 the monkey goes back to the treasure and takes a coin so it is forever cursed. Jack made a deal with davy jones about 9 years before the film period, to raise the pearl back from the depths and let Jack captain it for 13 years in exchange for his servitude for eternety on the flying dutchman, Barbossa and his crew mutened jack off the ship 3 days in their journey to Isla de muerta, the island that barbossa and his crew found the treasure and got cursed. Now Jack's time is up so he seeks to kill davy jones however he learns that the one who stabs the heart is the one to take davy jones place.....
