IMAGINE if they opted to just upgrade the engine of this damn game, optimize it even FURTHER to accommodate hundreds (150 - 800) of units at once without lagging like a damn slideshow and slap a "Dawn of War 3" on it -- Would've been my favorite RTS of all time.

This. All of this. DoW 1/ UA / UM on Unreal Engine 4 or 5 would literally be a wet dream. But I'd settle just for a true successor to DoW with a more powerful engine, 2004 graphics or not.

Thats basically how I feel about all of my favorite games from the era when dual core/multicore either didnt exist or devs didnt know how to use them. Shogun 2 Total War and Rome 1 Total War in particular.
If the engine was just updated to modern standards, even without any other graphical improvements beyond basics like resolution support they'd whoop anything newer out and thats probably why we won't see the devs actually do it. When it comes to rereleases and 'remasters', they'd much rather slap on new graphics created by some combination mobile game sweatshop while keeping performance as bad or worse than before.
We are being constantly hamstrung by a combination of horrible shareholders and horrible designers that desperately want to force whatever flavor of the month trend, be it card game , battle royale, MOBA, etc game mechanics into every game where it doesn't belong and they have generally ALL been heading towards gambling gameplay for obvious reasons.
Look dow3 devs, the morning community has made dow3 for you.

This game is my childhood happy place. I used to spend hours on cloudy, rainy fall afternoons in Skirmish trying to orchestrate huge battles where I'd have to hold off against unrelenting waves of Chaos or Orks. And now that there's a mod that has a mode centered around this sorta thing, just makes me happy inside.
I just installed the game and the mod yesterday, I'm so overwhelmed and too happy

They really need to remaster Dawn of War like they did Age of Empires II.
I think the mods like this and UA would far exceed any remaster they could ever do. They are also way to cheap to make a new game with this many factions and so much content. The original idea of new races with each progressive game was brilliant but now you get 3 races in a game of 30 and not even half the units.
@@unseen289 No, they can't. While a lot of the mods are excellent, it's the old engine that they can't change. DoW likes to lag even on today's hardware when enough units are present. So unless there comes a mod that makes the engine work without becoming a slideshow, a remaster in the veins of AoE2DE is still the way to go, even if they solely focus on the technical side of the game.
@@unseen289 it’s about the engine not the content eventually mods would be made for the remaster that would provide more content for a better engine
AoE II is a buggy mess that can crash at any time by detecting "program tampering" and it fucking detects nvidia in the background.
DoW engine is old and there's a high chance of it crashing under the amount of entities it has to load
we would have to create the game from the scratch to make it work

I remember playing this game once, when I decided to play skirmish, I selected the map that had a little section where the enemy can come from… and that was the only section… and it was a 1v1… me, the ultramarines vs… the orks… I set the AI difficulty to the highest setting. When I started the round I had to quickly make a base, and an army. When fortifications were placed and my army was ready to head out into battle…… that was when the biggest ork army attacked my base. It was chaos. The orks were week but had an advantage in numbers. They had a ton of robotic machines that I didn’t even have time to react to…..When I went to get more troops…. I lost everything…… never let the best of you…try their best. Accept defeat. And leave it

Ahh were are my golden boys of the imperium. In the end still the one and only mod that portrays each legion very well.

I hope space marine 2 turns out to be a good game even though I'm not optimistic considering the state of modern game industry.

It looks amazing, i love the level of zoom in-out.
Have you ever noticed how nimble the baneblade is, that thing is spinning like a top despite how no doubt heavy it is.
To be fair, the only thing stopping the Baneblade is because smaller units usually gather around them, a single mis-voxing and it's a summary execution

About what the Battle of Ultramar looked like: except the poor Guard didn't get an ounce of credit for fighting and dying besides the Ultramarines and many got abandoned to fight the Tyranids alone. Many worlds of Ultramar would have fallen if the Guard hadn't been there when the Ultramarines pulled out to defend Macragge.

@@blaxicanx The Imperium; the Ultramarines, The Forces of Chaos; really anyone. The Guard at Macragge got no credit for fighting the nids and you can't find it in the codex's or many books

I loved the first two games. I was so disappointed to find out the lack of features in DoW III that I never purchased it. Might replay if it works on a modern PC.

Hey, I have a question regarding modding in general. I have trouble running the steam version of Soulstorm with my multimonitor setup, plus the resolution is kinda small, including the bottom bar eating up a metric ton of space. Are there mods that help revamp the screen portions to properly scale with resolution and make the bar less obtrusive?

If you have DOW Soulstorm with Unification Mod then yes.
Do we need all dlc for this I have soulstorm and mod but it won't work when I try skirmish

I think if there's one thing avaliable in more vast numbers than manpower in the Imperium of Man it's ammo
I mean, the standard battery for the lasgun holds way more ammunition than the average modern magazine; but yes it would be cool
And if they couldn't fire through their own men and into close quarters combat...

also when i pick to play as chaos everything is the same as vanilla except 1 new unit?
Unification doesn't use the latest tyranids mod. You have to use the previous version. Scroll down through the comments on the download page and you will see where you went wrong.

What kind of crazy beam weapon is mounted on those ultramarine predators? I’ve never seen that type of cannon before. Some kind of massive volkite or something?

What is the main gun used on the predator tanks? I don't recognize that from any lore. The strange array thing, that has like electricity come from it. Not the laz cannons or the auto cannons.

How do you not have a turret cap? I can only make so many turrets when I'm the guard
Number of turrets is not limited in Survival mode.
Hope DoW4 goes back to this.
Unfortunately there will never be dow4. Company wont allow it. So now we wait and pray they make total war w40k instead. It is rumored they are considering it.

There are no heretic IG in the current version of Unification Mod.

No se puede. Tienes que descargar primero el Soulstorm normal, luego le metes el reshade, y luego le metes el unification mod.
