Thank you! Great question. You could do that but I wanted to create a dip into the bottom of the leaves so that it looks like it's tucked in underneath the flower. I can't achieve that look if the whole piece is intact. Does that make sense?
HI EMILY, I JUST WONDER IF YOU COULD SAVE YOURSELF A MOUNTAIN OF TIME IF YOU USED A 3MM CORNER ROUTER BIT TO CREATE THAT SMOOTH EDGE. I KNOW THE BITS ARE SMALL AND FIDDLY BUT I THINK VERY POSSIBLE IF YOU HAD "SMALL" TABLE ROUTER. JUST A THOUGHT 🙂
bahahah why are you yelling at me? 🤣 I don't really use a router since I don't do a lot of woodworking anymore. Projects like these are using one-offs for me now. BUT, I promise to give that a try the next time I decide to make a shaped sign and I'll give it a whirl in your honor!
There is laser-safe MDF carried by many suppliers. It is indeed very dense, and some are harder to cut than others, that's why I stick to sourcing it from sources that focus on laserable materials.
Love watching these from you! This is the second one and can’t wait for the 3rd video!
Aww thank you! More to come as soon as I get back from St. Louis!
Excellent tutorial! I found your TH-cam channel last week and immediately subscribed. Thanks for the engaging and useful content. :)
Aww I'm so happy you found me too and that you liked what you saw enough to subscribe. Welcome!
Cool project Emily , Just curious though why not leave the base all in one piece then layer over it rather than cutting all the individual pieces

Ah gotcha 😁

I thought it was unsafe to laser MDF. a) easily catches on fire, b) as MDF is glue and sawdust, the glue is toxic. Is this not your understanding?
