This bike changed my optimism for the future - Fiido C21

  • This bike genuinely surprised me. I wasn't expecting much, but I have been really enjoying this bike.
It was provided to us by Fiido.com . They saw our last eBike video and reached out saying, 'we have something you will like'. I have really enjoyed commuting and getting chores done in town with this bike.
The bike in the video is called the C21. Right now they have a sale on for Green Day.
fiido.com/fiid... and you can get a further discount by using the code MCW5 between 6th July 2023 and 13th July 2023
The bike was supplied to us to keep, but we have not accepted any payment, we reviewed this strictly on the understanding that the free bike would be no guarantee of a positive review.
This bike has genuinely changed my opinion on how we will be integrating eBike into our lives more and more. Prices are coming down, weight is coming down, speeds are increasing, and councils and governments are hopefully going to have to start providing proper infrastructure too.

There is a fair bit of criticism toward ebikes, but it's mostly because they are taken out of context. This little bike has a use case and you defined it perfectly thanks. BTW ,I am realistic to know there is an ebike somewhere in my own future. Just not quite yet...

Ebikes have certainly changed many lives, but I'm not sure whether that is good or not. All I see is folks using them as Mopeds and not pedaling at all, and that includes younger folks as well. I'm sure some are convinced that are great for recovery, and perhaps they are. But, I do not see them helping the bike industry at all, sure shops have done well with them from a financial standpoint... but it seems to me that it is simply a fsd. I certainly would like to see the Bike Industry get behind something that would encourage lots of folks to get outside and pedal, and especially our younger generations. Hopefully someone will come with a great idea and that all of us can get behind and folks would be excited to use.

That aside it just helps stop the endless pursuit of car ownership clogging up the world. This little bike is usually faster than the car. And defo faster when you factor parking time.

I hate E-Bikes. It makes lovely places ugly, because masses of lazy people can reach these places now. Lazy people behave worse than others. E.G., riding side by side not caring when there is oncoming traffic, no, they won´t move. They are as bad as SUV drivers.

    • @robday1976
      @robday1976 ปีที่แล้ว

A group of fat men on overpriced carbon framed aero bikes can make lovely places ugly. You’re missing the point of this bike. It’s to get lazy people out of their SUV and commute to their place of work which will probably not be lovely place, without arriving there out of breath and sweating. Then when they get fitter they can buy an overpriced carbon frame and make lovely places ugly like the rest of the weekend warrior brigade.

Well that's one way of looking at it. I ride a road bike and an ebike, which I built for commuting. I can do 40 miles comfortably on the "good bike" or I can do 70 on the ebike and take in some big hills on the way. Either way by the time you get home, you know you've had the exercise. Having conquered a few hills on the ebike, I'm now trying to achieve the same goals on the road bike. People who say its not cycling need to try one - Until you do, then it's just pontification.

19kg is still far too heavy for an everyday ebike.
15kg is about the limit for practicalities like carrying up steps, lifting over gates or badly designed infrastructure, etc.
Plenty ebikes now getting close to the 15kg, and many actually less than that although they tend to be more expensive.

Governments need to be building cycling infrasture regardless of e-bikes or regular push bikes. Cycling is getting way more dangerous in my view because of the idiots out there on the roads- on there phones. Ive cycled to work for 11 years. But ive had more close calls in the last 2 than in all the other years combined. Then 6 months ago I was hit by a car at 60 mph cycling to work. I broke my neck, my shoulder, my rotator cuff and degloved my right calf. The guy was an absolute idiot and hopefully getting prosecuted. Im on my road to recovery. But I see it the duty of Governments to protect all cyclists whether e-bikes or conventional bikes by building better infrastructure for both

Good day, I received my Fiido C21 Pro today, unboxing and assembly was completed with the help of the Fiido video. the fenders were a little trickly and fiddly.

    Just 2 questions.
    1. can you tell me if there is a way to check my C21 frame is medium or large, it feels large as I can only just stand up straddling the crossbar, the order stated clearly M.

    2. When using the cycle for the first time I was expecting to see assist levels 0,1,2,3,4,5. But see eco, normal, sport, turbo, turbo+ and rocket modes, has this replaced the assist modes that I saw when looking at various videos on youtube including yours which was one reason why I chose this e-bike.

    1. July 2024 - I paid £999 for mine.
    2. Maybe I have a soggy bum at 73, but the saddle isn't comfortable.
    3. I pull a Burley trailer with two dogs - the range then drops to only 20km so I'm thinking of getting their 'extender battery' which looks like a bit of a bodge job.
    4. There is no way to lock the battery off as a security measure. Anyone can simply turn it on, so I have a large D lock.

Great video Paul, I agree that there needs to be more designs like this on the UK market rather than just the heavy models that dominante the choice currently. My dream is a rigid fork, flat bar, 500w battery with built in rack, mudguards and lights. Perfect for hilly Lake District commuting. I've clocked up 15,000 Kms on my cube Katmandu in three years and love it, mostly commuting, but it's just too heavy and big to manhandle in and out of the shed!

Check out the Whyte Clifton, good bike & lighter than your cube but a touch less powerful. There's no escaping the weight issue imo, if you want good range & good climbing ability you must have a mid drive motor & a big battery. I’m already tired of people who barely know how to ride, going out and buying 28 mph models both with and without pedal requirements, then showing up on the bike path and riding (no helmets) with much slower ppl and having no clue of proper riding manners. I also don’t support e-bikes riding with all natural riders on fast group rides. Go start your own e-bike only group ride.
