    Just now learned that Dolly had a brother and that brother recorded this song before Alabama. Rarely ever do I like alternate versions of songs I know and love from other artists. I know he sang it first but I heard Alabama sing it first. I love Randy's performance, but, I still love Alabama's the most. Who knows, If I had heard this performance first, maybe I would have loved it more.

    Our family was on vacation many years ago and was at Dollywood. We watched Randy’s show and after the show he came outside with us and walked around the park. We had a nice time Randy was very friendly and spoke very highly of his family. Rest In Peace Randy.

      Most of 70’s and 80’s country hits were retreads

      This song didn’t even chart. Alabama speed up the pace and at that time Alabama was well established so anything they released was going to be a hit. Plus Randy Owens voice is deeper.

      Randy did it so much better than Alabama.

      Dolly Parton's hair was darker in this video and her voice sounds a lot different

    His voice is not as powerful as I thought it would be. He sings well. He's quite good looking. Thank you very much for sharing this.

    This family was loaded with talent! Dolly said once in an interview that all 11 of her siblings had every bit the talent she did, but she was just driven toward hard work and the goal of being a star the so much. . I’m not sure if she was being kind and generous to her family or if it was really true, but they all could sing and were musicians.

      Randy is playing the guitar alongside of Dolly in the 9 to 5 video.

    This version got plenty of airplay in Memphis.
    In 1984, I was playing an old homemade tape that had Randy Parton singing & someone thought that HE was the copycat.

    Randy Parton is a good singer it's too bad he did not make it as big as his sister Dolly, both of them are talented in there own rights.

    Nice. I think he has great great talent as well as a great look. But back then there were many male country artist so his competition was tough. Now, months after posting this edited message, I just learned he passed away. Oh Lord, please comfort his family.🙏’s.

      His version was out first way before Alabama had a hit with it, I am sure! This looks like the 70s, Alabama didn’t have a hit with it till the 80s when, their career was taking off.

      @veggieoilerfan2940 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sonyafox3271 Randy Parton’s version was from 1982, while Alabama released their version in 1984.

      Not until the 80s, when, their career was taking of, Alabama didn’t start playing on the radio till the 80s. This was in the 70s.

    Why Has none of Randy Parton's Albums been released on CD since his death? I'm especially wanting his song Dollywood Lights. I can't find the song anywhere.
