Ahh...Springfield: The busiest section in Universal Studios Hollywood. Everyone goes through there and most eat there(Krusty Burger being the number 1 restaurant in the park).
They weren't lazy, they were just being a bit careful about which franchise should they use to make an attraction out of it, The Fast and the Furious wasn't really big at the time and not many people were talking about it, which is why they choose The Simpsons instead.
It'll be interesting to see what happens to the Simpsons at Universal. I'm sure there has to be some theme park rights that remain with Universal just like what happened with Marvel, but it's sad to see that so much of the park doesn't even belong to Universal.

I went to Orlando recently on a band trip, and I just remember all my friends complaining about the long ass line at Luigi's while I was next door at the Frying Dutchman with basically no line. To this day it's still some of the greasiest seafood I've ever had. But I agree on the tater tots, but you HAVE to try the coconut shrimp if you ever go back. It's probably my favorite thing there, and I'm not even that fond of coconut.
I doubt the ride will be taken down in the near future. Disney can't just come in and tell Universal to take everything down because they own Fox now, Fox and Universal have a contract in place. If Disney were to try that, Universal would most likely sue and it could take years for a judge to make a decision. Honestly I don't see The Simpsons fitting in to any of the Disney Parks and Disney will just honor the contract that has already been in place for over 10 years. They don't gain anything by trying to remove the attraction, as not only wouldn't they get their cut of the profits due to the contract but they would need at least 2 years to build a new attraction.
I doubt it because Disney has owned Marvel for much longer and the Hulk coaster and the Spider-Man ride are still around. Plus Disney isn’t allowed to use certain Marvel characters in Walt Disney World because Universal still owns the ride rights to them.
@@ThemeParkHistory They will probably ask for settlement to renew the contract, however, despite being built a few years ago, would they do another early 2000s move and remove it for whatever is popular sometime around 2028?
I dont even watch the Simpsons anymore, but the Springfield part at Universal was everything my young self would want to see. It was way too much fun, drinking beer at Moe's, waiting in line with the family, that freaking big ass poster at the food boulevard, with I guess all the character at the moment. Is a must even if you dont even like the series
This is one of the Theme Park History videos I always comeback to watch. Being a giant Simpsons fan as a child this ride was the highlight of my holiday when it first came out. Just wish they could of done more with the body of materials before Disney started taking the IP
Never rode back to the future unfortunately but seen the footage & it looked fun! Really like the simpsons & the springfield area is a great part of the park.
This ride will forever leave a bittersweet memory to me, not because I hate it, but because I had a fun time with my ex-friend that he invited me to accompany him one summer, to which we had a terrible fall out years later for unrelated reasons. I even got a keychain over there, and I kept it ever since to only remember the good times I had with my old friend.
I love this ride! I feel like the rides vehicle is kind of mild, making it feel like more of a show than ride. Great video though! Btw, can you do California Screamin next? & that fast and furious jab... lol!

"All of the seats are exactly the same, except for the ones that are different." -My favorite line from Homer! I was one of the last to ride Back to the Future and one of the first to ride The Simpsons soft open. Loved them both!
I've ridden the USH version and it's TOP NOTCH! I wasn't even aware of its presence in the park (and confused as it was 20CF IP) but I MARVELED at its immersiveness. I absolutely felt like I was walking through Springfield. And the ride, story, and script were HYSTERICAL! Marge (on the out of control roller coaster) screams, "We're all gonna DIE!" Homer replies, "No we're not, Marge! Theme parks won't LET you die as long as you've got one single dollar left in your pocket!". Their riffs on ALL the theme parks and entertainment companies was pure Simpsons.
One time in Zoo Tycoon I made a theme Zoo of Universal Studios where I put a Great White Shark (pretending it was Jaws), Rabbits (making it be Watership Down, which is an animated movie that Universal owns the rights in the United Kingdom), various dinosaurs (both pretending that they are the dinosaurs from both Jurassic Park and The Land Before Time), as well with Zoo scenery (most of them not related to universal) of The Boneyard and just some rides and buildings to make it look like rides.
Thanks for you for showing my comment! I’m the biggest Simpsons fan, but I am an even bigger Back to the Future fan and I’m still so sad that ride is gone 😭😭
I worked at Universal Studios Hollywood during my HS years and I was there when this ride opened. We got an employee preview night, we rode it before it open to the public. It was a cool, we got posters and lanyards which I still owe today. Fun Times !
I remember when they first opened this ride. I was in the 5th grade and fox did a promotion for it. Answer Simpson's trivia correctly and one person would win 4 tickets to universal and a week at the hardrock hotel. My mom ended up winning. My dad lucked out and met godsmack at the pool. I saw them live that night. Only thing though. Roaches. The hardrock hard a roach problem. That may have just been something they were dealing with when I was there and I know roaches are everywhere but still. You don't expect roaches in your coffee at the hardrock.

Thank you Dean! We will be covering Transformers: The Ride sometime this summer, thank you for your suggestion.
I have eaten at Krusty Burger AND Cletus’s chicken. Both have amazing food. Also the tator tots are *supreme*
Krusty Burger is probably the best food in the park, it even made me sick once. Now THAT is attention to detail.
Mmmm $20 hamburgers *drools*
And to think it probably would be the exact opposite in the show.
It's probably my favorite thing there, and I'm not even that fond of coconut.
bruh those steamed hams were so good
It would be cool if you covered Mister Toad's Wild Ride
Mr. Toad's Wild Road has been added to the list, thank you for the suggestion conartisthill.
Now that Disney owns the Simpsons, there might be issues with Universal
And then, Star Tours The Adventure Continues will be killed
S.KullRandom well they’ve had marvel for years so
@@ThemeParkHistory They will probably ask for settlement to renew the contract, however, despite being built a few years ago, would they do another early 2000s move and remove it for whatever is popular sometime around 2028?
The part where Krusty says " I have no idea how much time is remaining" brings back awful memories from when I was in a super long line
Blur Studio!
2:26 Great Scott. It's Marty McFly And Doc Brown From Back To The Future The Movie. My All Time Favourite Universal Pictures Movie. Thanks Mate. X
I remember they had this really fun website leading up to the attraction's opening.
I do to! I think it was TheSimpsonsRide.com Had a bunch of fun games and gags about theme parks on it.
The Back to the Future ride was one of the best rides EVER!
Welcome back to "thank god this is in my recommended"
We're just glad to be back in the recommendations.
One of my favorites! Love this series of videos keep them up!
when they switched from BTTF to Simpsons, all our childhoods were forever scarred.....
I love this ride! I feel like the rides vehicle is kind of mild, making it feel like more of a show than ride. Great video though!
Btw, can you do California Screamin next? & that fast and furious jab... lol!
*Incredicoaster
Galactixx OwO of course :)
The vehicle? Mild? PAHAHAHHA
But in all seriousness, the Florida version is so jerky it almost feels too real xD
UtopiaPlayz Huh. Well, again, that was just my opinion. If you’re opinion is different that’s totally ok.
J Terry TV ok so I went to the parks again, turns out only the top level is jerky now, I’m pretty sure there was a refurbishment a while back
Been to both. I loved the Hollywood one because it is literally my backyard. However, so much more to do in orlando version. Love the alien twirl and love duff yet it's so overpriced.
We've got to go Back to the Future
Thank you for the Simpson's fan service throughout your video. It was very satisfying.
Your channel is freaking incredible!!!
Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast/Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbara coming soon?
Yesterworld covers those rides
We will be covering Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast & Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbara in separate videos sometime this year, thank you for the suggestions Randall.
@@ThemeParkHistory I AM SO MAD that Zim isn't a meetable character. Gaz as well!
wowee.. a ride was closed on my 1st birthday
rip back to the future ride
05.01.1991 - 03.30.2007
And rip Star Tours The Adventure Continues, it will be closed very soon and being replaced by The Simpsons Ride since Disney now owns The Simpsons
Nice touch calling him Bort towards the end of the video.
This ride is my absolute favorite at the park! I loved the Krusty Burgers as well!
Wow that Michael Eisner/Euro Disney shot at the end did it for me 😂😂😂 subscribed!!
Yay, thank you for uploading! I love The Simpsons 😫🖤
Hope you enjoyed the video Salini!
4:16 this picture is a joke to the old show before the simpsons you know and love called “goodnight: the simpsons”
I’ve been waiting for this for a long time! Neat!
Hope it was worth the wait!
Don’t want to sound cheesy but this is an underrated channel. Keep up the great videos! 👍🏽🙂
"All of the seats are exactly the same, except for the ones that are different." -My favorite line from Homer!
I was one of the last to ride Back to the Future and one of the first to ride The Simpsons soft open. Loved them both!
Can you do a video on rugrats Magic adventure, it’s an attraction that seems obscure that I wanna see your take on it
Rugrats Magic Adventure has been added to the list, thank you for the suggestion Aidan.
Thank you so much! This is another one of my favourite rides. I'm a *big* simpsons fan!
*Can we go to mount splashmore?*
No

NO!!!!
@@lucianoalonso4389 Can we go to Mount Splashmore?
Damn I remember when this opened, I was like 8 or about 11 years ago!
Marge (on the out of control roller coaster) screams, "We're all gonna DIE!"
Homer replies, "No we're not, Marge!
When this opened up I remember how long the lines were now it’s all just fractions of what it used to be
Technoid yep. No wait last week. Other rides had hour or more wait
Can you do The Cat in the Hat Ride at Islands of Adventure? It's a great kids ride!
The Cat in the Hat has been added to the list, thank you for the suggestion chuckecheese.
4:55 right on the spot.
I'm glad you agree!
Fun Times !
what you dont' see is a representative from universal paying The rock after he said that lol jk
That’s how The Rock got his role for Disaster!
nice one :) @@ThemeParkHistory
I remember when they first opened this ride. I was in the 5th grade and fox did a promotion for it. Answer Simpson's trivia correctly and one person would win 4 tickets to universal and a week at the hardrock hotel. My mom ended up winning. My dad lucked out and met godsmack at the pool. I saw them live that night. Only thing though. Roaches. The hardrock hard a roach problem. That may have just been something they were dealing with when I was there and I know roaches are everywhere but still. You don't expect roaches in your coffee at the hardrock.
That sounds awesome! Well, minus the roaches.
Please do a Theme Park History of Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts! Love the content!
Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts has been added to the list, thank you for the suggestion Anthony. Just a heads up, we will be covering Hogsmeade before Diagon Alley, so it might be a while before we get there!
@@ThemeParkHistory Awesome! Can't wait for both. Keep up the great work!
Thats awesome! Great video
I think the biggest thing to come out of the Disney-fox deal is that homer can now use the notes a-flat and g-natural when writing his Christmas carols
Best 22 minutes of my day
also do Rip Ride Rockit
Can you try a history video for Star Trek The Experience in the future?
This is one of my best rides at Universal! They should never remove it ! It would feel so empty without it and if people want Back to the Future so much, Universal should just make it replace a less important attraction, like Fear Factor Live!
Disney could put The Simpsons Ride in their Disney park in Paris.
True, but the Simpsons look better in Universal. They're not Disneyish.
yes they sould remove it, or this ride could kill Star Tours : The Adventure Continues
And once they remove it, i have two options :
1 : Bring back the old Back To The Future ride
2 : Make a Rick & Morty themed ride
@@sandradefosse213 or make a mario themed ride
I love that you tell us history about theme parks good job
I'm pretty sure Springfield has their own dedicated area in adventure island, I recently went there, and it was there.
Theme Park History: Bugs Land
A Bug's Land has been added to the list, thank you for the suggestion whata melha
Omg yessss!! I'm at work bored! Perfect timing! 😍
Edit: Nelson's HAHA at the Fast & Furious ride killed me 🤣🤣🤣
Amanda Ellen same
Do The Great Movie Ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Rock N Roller Coaster!
Both will get their own videos sometime this year, thank you for the suggestion Striljr.
When I was a kid and we went to Universal Studios for the first time the Simpsons ride was my favorite we went on it sooo many times. This video brought back so many memories
By the way I have been binge watching all of your videos and have seen every single one. Seeing as I am going to Universal Studios Orlando + Islands Of Adventure + Volcano Bay for 5 days! Keep making good detailed content!!
I’m going on February 24th, is that a good time to go?
