As an American I truly love watching your solo travels. Calming, educational and you are hilarious in a very under rated way. ❤ Thanks for sharing your culture.
We didn't eat fish growing up- my father was deathly allergic to it. My husband introduced me to the joys of sushi, and he would have done a happy dance for that tuna. Thanks for braving the heat and letting us adventure with you.
When the temperature was shown, I thought, "BRUTAL!" Don't blame you for staying indoors as much as possible. Thanks for enduring the heat to show us the food of Tsukiji.
When Solo san was sat down waiting for a table to become free at the second restaurant, I suddenly realised he had turned into a Centipede, as he had so many extra legs! This must be a new ploy to get him to the food faster😄🤗
Oh, that coffee looked delicious! My favorite way to have matcha ice cream is done by a sweet shop a little south of where I live. They make Matcha ice cream balls stuffed with red bean paste and rolled in sesame.
Loved the look of the Tuna Bowl. 😋🥰 I actually prefer raw fish over cooked fish. At least when talking about traditional fish…not shellfish or crustaceans, those I prefer cooked. Except oysters….I like them equally cooked or raw. 😅❤ Excellent video…as always, I enjoyed it immensely. Thank you for taking us on this food tour with you. ✌🏻😊
I love tuna sashimi/sushi. I've been eating it since I was 2 years old lol. In fact, when I was about 5, my family and I were in a sushi restaurant and the chef came to our table because he didn't believe that I had ordered, and was eating, octopus. He said that grownups didn't eat it, let alone children. And here was this little girl in Oakland, CA devouring it. I still love octopus and tuna. Anything I order has tuna in it because it's my fav. I'm also a huge fan of ikura, tobiko and masago. Not sure what it is about fish roe, but I love it (except I don't like caviar...figure that one out 😂) Japan is my dream country to go to someday. Mainly for the food lol. Though I'm a little afraid since I'm sure the quality there is much better than here and I'll always be disappointed trying to eat sushi stateside again. I'd probably eat sushi for every meal if I could. I love it. That tuna bowl looks absolutely incredible to me. It's definitely on my list of things I need to eat in my life.
originally Mason jars or pint jars didn’t have handles and were used by families to cook and preserve fruits and vegetables in - we still have some of my Grandmother’s jars which must be at least seventy / seventy five yrs old - I’ve got peaches, pears and pickled beets waiting for me in my folks’ cold room - unfortunately my mother (mid eighties) is the only one who “cans” regularly - we’ll have dozens and dozens of Mason jars when she stops “preserving” - keep cool and enjoy whatever is in your Mason jar 🇨🇦🙏
I love to watch your videos, I learn so much about Japanese Culture ( which I find fascinating) I also love Chinese and Japanese food & can work a mean set of chopsticks 🥢😂 what does a dichon radish taste like? I think Japanese people are so talented & polite ( The way they always bow & say "thank you and wave at you when you leave on a ferry and train! ) People don't have old -fashioned manners anymore! With love from Georgia ❤
The Tuna sashimi so mouth watering! I like it better when they cut it thicker a bit, can really feel and taste of Tuna 🤤 i like it thick ...i mean the cuts of sashimi 😂
5 minutes walk in Tokyo, i can almost finish a bottle of 950ml of Ayataka. Coca-cola and 7e is earning a lot of money from me 😅. Btw, the sweet potato dessert seems like we have here in Malaysia. 😊
I enjoy chilled peach mango green tea as well as lemon mint green tea. Very refreshing on a hot day. Matcha ice cream has piqued my interest, it's something I'd like to try sometime. Would combining matcha powder and vanilla ice cream.give me a reasonable result?
honestly yes, matcha + vanilla ice cream will hit alot of those same notes. matcha + milky/creamy flavors are often combined i.e. matcha lattes. if your grocery store has a decent selection of ice cream, haagen daz actually makes a green tea ice cream. it just wont have as much nuance as a proper matcha based one, but it'll get the job done.
@@joyously69 ......thanks for the info. Yes, I can get ice cream in all qualities plus matcha powder. I wish it hadn't gotten so chilly by me in recent weeks or I'd try it out. this weekend when I go for groceries.
I wish we had a grilled fish restaurant like that (but some of the patrons would probably set the place on fire). Very interesting desserts! Glad to see the five second rule is international.
😪😊❤. HOLD on we're coming! LOL. My Bride and I just purchased our tickets for a visit with her family, after waiting for the controlling social experiment to pass.😊
Regarding Americans liking fish enough to eat Tuna raw - the majority of Americans are of German decent, and only a small part of traditional German lands have access to the sea. Therefore, genetically, this German-American population has adapted to almost only pickled herring - and nothing else from the sea. Italians, Swedes, Norwegians, and even the British were all raised to eat fish... but not the Germans. So it can be a big leap for any American of German decent to suddenly gobble up raw Sushi just because they are in Japan. But keep on pushing for it.
".......and in other news, Tsukiji Outer Market inexplicably ran out of their famous tuna over the weekend. Consumers are demanding explanations, and officials are investigating the cause...."
I would starve in Japan. Unless I'm in dire straights I would not EVER voluntarily eat raw fish, meats or raw eggs which seems to be most popular there by so many, locals and tourist alike. I would make do with all the okazu as long as there's no raw fish in it or do all grill style dining. The food always looks so delicious though, especially their noodle dishes and ramens.
I can understand those feelings. I would never want to eat pizza, hamburgers, or french fries. I am from PA USA.....so raw fish, meats and raw eggs are the norm. I would enjoy a visit there food wise.
There are plenty of restaurant chains serving cooked food, some even open 24 hours. Curry, ramen, beef bowls, fried chicken, unagi etc. It's even possible to survive off convenience store food, though it gets old quick. Don't let this concern put you off a holiday there.
My European family had no tradition of or even interest in eating any undercooked or raw foods, probably due to safety concerns. When I was much younger I ate beef tartare, German style, once a year but have since lost my appetite for it. I too would pass on the raw eggs and uncooked fish but teriyaki chicken, beef curry, tonkatsu, & assorted noodle bowls would feed you well.
no. you can get fresh wasabi in the states. it's just expensive, and you'll only see it at more high end sushi spots that are usually omakase-focused; it's not usually seen at the more common low/mid-tier places.
Grilled fish wasn't impressive, it's the first video of Japanese foods I see and I'm disappointed. Waaay too expensive for few thin slices of ordinary fish. On the other hand, raw fish looked exceptionally!
I am not ashamed to admit that I live for seeing "!!" whenever you eat something delicious. It's small, but it makes my day to see.
Me too. I always look for it.

That green tea looks out of this world refreshing

Yeah! I am going to Tokyo in a few days. Thank you for the good timing !😂
I'm so jealous, I really missed eating the Hokkaido and the matcha soft served ice creams.
I really loved your video of some incredible Hokkaido cuisine ❤

The heat and humidity are typical of summers where I live. If you’re not in the air conditioning it’s hard to have an appetite. Nice work.
Yay, I agree, I love his new videos! By the way, all the dishes look delicious! I will have a coffee, thanks!😂
Now I'm hungry and craving something not too sweet
As always, a great video!
Yeaaaaayyy, new video.. new lunch buddy 🎉 welcome welcomee 🤩
Looks super delicious, I'm full from just watching the video.
Your video is quite good. I also produce videos related to travel in Japan 🇯🇵. I've learned a lot from your video, thank you!
Beautiful food and cheap!
The jar is a mason jar for liquids or cocktails..very popular in the USA

Taking notes, because I go to Tokio in november.😊
15:16 😂😂😂😂😂we’d have trouble choosing too!!

Wonderful video again sir. I must agree - even if you don’t like raw fish, please try good quality raw tuna - it’s amazing! 🙏❤🔥

I love Japan 🍣 We're a startup that started mapping TH-cam videos. May I share/link local information of this video?

Nothing raw......too dangerous. But, everything is so tempting. Beautiful food....

There are many dishes with fried pork, beef and chicken, don't worry

Are there laws governing wasabi in Japan? Here in the USA it's pretty much all fake -- just horseradish and green coloring.
no. you can get fresh wasabi in the states. it's just expensive, and you'll only see it at more high end sushi spots that are usually omakase-focused; it's not usually seen at the more common low/mid-tier places.
