But the pressure in quicksand is capable of stopping your blood circulation, resulting in fatigue, passing out or even death... so this can work depending how viscous the quicksand is.
The quicksand I QUICKLY went down to my waist in was beside a mountains creek, but something told me to throw myself sideways (as I went down) towards the firm ground and get a hold of shrubs and rocks. It was very hard pulling my legs out but I did it (obviously). It felt like I was going to keep sinking over my head if I hadn't done that. At no stage did I feel the bottom.
There was no one else around. I was exploring beside a creek where there was no path.

Quicksand is like black ice. It’s hard to detect them if it’s sinkable. Some people might be talking and walking at the same time and suddenly get get into it. We can’t really tell which one is quicksand and which one is normal wet sand.

you actually can suffocate, and it depends on how much water, sand etc... is in there, and prolonged pressure of the sand on your body can disturb blood flow. and the pressure on your chest makes you short of breath, the best thing is just to call for help and be calm, wiggling makes you go down faster.

I live near Venetian lagoon and if you want to catch soft crabs, clams and reach the rocks where are the oysters then you have to go through quicksand (here it is made of clayay silt) and it is totally worth it!

Pressure of sand won't let you move your legs and pressure will stop blood circulation in lower parts. How will you move leg you will loose your energy. Just lay down and distribute your body weight over the sand as soon as possible before sinking this much. save energy for help.

2nd he said 'don't pull the victim', well in some situations it does work to pull out the victim, but it also matters if the quick sand is think or not.
3rd he said 'whatever goes in the quicksand won't come out', well the backstroke style requires you to pull your arm under you, so that's not very smart.
I don't know if this video is true or not, but it's not very accurate at all.

What the video meant was, a person would not naturally sink below waist level. You can float on water, you definitely can float on quicksand.
People who do drown in quicksand move around too much and shift the sand beneath them away. Gravity pulls them down and the viscuous quicksand doesn't push back like water does.
