Giving up on No-Till, Planting Food Plots with Vertical Till, Rotory Tiller and Cultipacking

  • This site has soil that is silt in some areas and a stony silt in others. It dries out very quickly, causing a struggle for summer food plots. Weed pressure is tremendous due to no maintenance in the summer.
So, to get rid of the dense root mass of grasses and other weeds, I will use my plow, a rotory tiller, and Brillion seeder.
This type of seeder packs the tilled soil, drops small seeds randomly and packs the soil again over the seeds. It creates a perfect seed bed and planting for clovers and brassicas.

I also believe in old school tillage. The clean plot should do well. Good luck!

The video was spot on and that's almost exactly the way I like to plant. I get some haters at times, But that matters not when the fescue and crab grass is so tenacious. You gotta do the best you can not Only to terminate the grasses but to destroy the root system.Nice video, thank you.

@@kapperoutdoors I couldn't believe how hard it rained and wash the seeds.I've never seen that before when I planted with that seeder. I just can't win with the weather these days. Its all germinated and coming up, I'll post something to show how it's growing later

A tiller is on my list, looks like it makes a nice smooth field.

Why did you not spray to kill the crabgrass ?

Its not my land. Owner sprayed in spring but the warm season weeds show uo in mid summer.
