i think he will go edges next. if u know simms, he will go with the simeon rice freaks a la tyree wilson. not sure if theres one this year outside chop robinson.
Simms evaluates DB's and O-line pretty well i gotta say, especially safties. He was bugging when he put Nolan Smith over Will Anderson, and I'm an Eagles fan. Smith is an unbelievable athlete but needs more moves.
So happy you gave DJ James & Mitchell some love. Not an auburn fan but saw James play the last couple years and loved his game. Also live in person Mitchell dominate at the senior bowl in press.
Im glad he doesn’t have him higher honestly, to me, he is the absolute biggest match for my detroit lions and i desperately want him in the 2nd round, hoping we go edge in first lol
Remember Hardy Nickerson said about Barry Sanders, if you miss him, stay where you are, he'll be back. Barry embarrassed many pro bowlers. Nobody could change direction like Barry.
I feel like CB is where he is the most off. The Kool Aide disrespect is egregious. He may not be the fastest, but he is the most consistent, smart corner in the draft. He will be the Tim Duncan type, he is the big fundamental.
Agreed on Quinyon as CB1, but Chris - you need someone to do more research on these players or actively evaluate what scheme they were in for context. Toledo's corners weren't allowed to "play it how they like to" . He was their field-side corner, which is why he was almost always playing off and they ran a lot of quarters, which does play out like man a lot of times. He actually only played man on about 30% of snaps according to PFF. I disagree a lot of times with they're numbers, because boundary corners still get tagged as having played "zone" even though they're tagged with MEG calls on the backside a lot of times - so they're playing man - but looking at Quinyon, he'd literally line up between numbers 1 and 2 to the field at times, in part because he was so good at anticipating and positioning himself according to the route-combinations. Also, the pro day bump on 40s is just flat-out wrong. Agents nowadays tell their guys to run in Indy because of how it being regularly described as a "fast track" with the new turf they installed a couple of years ago.
I played against that hoboken team Simms was mentioning. We played Hoboken in the 1st round of the playoffs (Sparta NJ). We would have played Simm’s team Ramapo if we were to win but Hoboken proved to be way too strong. That All state Rb/MLB for Hoboken that Simms mentioned was Tyrell Dortch who went on to play for Michigan State.
I will say nate Wiggins popped everytime i watched Clemson. Definitely a baller. Might not tackle as well but definitely underrated by many. 4.29 though.
He is really football analysis. He doesn't copy the media list such as many in the mock draft. Of course, he could miss some, but he hit more than miss. He really analyze the players though film study.
Chris ur the best in the bizz! Talking about the Alabama guys reminded me of deion branch and how you were lower then most on him. Guy had an incredible rookie year due to Saban and his football smarts. Do you think having a nickel/slot corner ranking seperate from island shutdown corner is better since they r almost totally seperate positions? Feel like both Alabama guys could have a great year. Love the pod✌🏼
I do love all Simms said about Mitchell. With all that was said and considering now he will be lining up against AJ Brown and Smitty he will be certainly tested all summet
Sainristil is an amazing slot guy. He's small but he's a absolute dog. He's a leader and playmaker. Always steps up in clutch situations. He's just a football player. He will be an elite slot guy. Noway he ever plays the boundaries, but he's tenacious and quick. You're right about the Alabama guys they are beatable athletically but damn they have instincts and tackling skills. Koolaid is always where he should be, that being said he's not gonna scare an NFL WR in one on one coverage. I think he's a great zone corner, looking at the QB. I'm personally not excited about this class. Last year was way better than this year imo. I didn't see Melton or James play at all. Love Wiggins but damn he's skinny.
I thought the same thing recently. Funny the first comment I see mentions of it. Hes a step down but similar skillet. Actually faster than sauce though not as technically sound. So he's an A physical sauce might be A- but coverwise sauce is an A+ Mitchel is probably a B to B+. But he does have a higher upside because of his speed.
I'm willing to let go of the hope of 5-1 instead of 1-5, but can we stop posting the #1 person on the thumbnail and putting it up on instagram almost immediately. I love the anticipation with the show
Interesting. Someone in the Lions sub got upset I didn't feel Kamari Lassiter wasn't a strong fit for the Lions in rd 1. He's not even listed, not that I'm rooting against the kid, but that is interesting.
Chris, may you deep dive Darrell Green and his greatness, for the people, please. Who is faster, Tyreek Hill or Darrell Green? ps Green ran a u4.09 40 in 1986 training camp.
Putting Terrion Arnold, Rakestraw, and DeJean in some honorable mention category is hilarious. I love some of the guys he mentioned (like Melton), but Decamerion Richardson is a scrub compared to his honorable mention guys. Terrion Arnold, especially.
I'm sure Simms might have a good analysis of accents. I remember getting comfortable with 'hoboken' and swallowing the first syllable. Natives threw up arms.
Simms just has a type at CB. He want someone taller 6’-6’4” who is fast 4.2-4.3 who plays man coverage and is a hyper aggressive tackler. Players who are: below 6’, run 4.4 or slower, or play a lot of zone he simply doesn’t value as much. What that often means in nickel CBs get devalued by him. I remember a few years back how insanely high he was on Caleb Farley who the Titans drafted. He had an injury history then and has been super injury prone since then playing 12 games in 3 years and in total recording 14 tackles and 1 pbu. I think it’s fine that he prefers what he prefers. Realistically though he should probably split it into top 5 CBs and top 5 nickels though
You didn't mention the true best CB's in the draft Jarrian Jones and Elijah Jones. Everyone was sleeping on Puka last year this year they sleeping on Elijah and Jarrian big time.
sauce shut down mark andrews in the slot all game. hes just better on the outside and we have a great slot corner. the jets usually do not move their corners around anyways
Chris Simms didn’t have Derek Stingley in his top 5 two years ago. Derek Stingley was a lockdown CB for the Texans last year. Chris is not the best talent scout.
The NFL's gonna mess up and let dejean fall to the ravens with hamilton, humphrey, stephens, and marcus williams. he and hamilton in the same secondary would be a cheat code
Chris Sims “you’re going to question me?!” 😂 other dude was telling a story and Sims was trying to name the player from other dude’s story. Arrogant much?!
Yeah these two are you know something special I've never quite followed football in the respects that I have here lately beef stew went from the basement to the top of my information list because Simms is no bulshit and they match well
Simms needs to stop doing his rankings after the combine. The guy can’t separate a guys testing from the quality of the tape. Terrion Arnold is the best coverage player in this draft. Only Mitchell is anywhere close to him. Decamerion Richardson ahead of Arnold and Sainristril is laughable
I've been convinced for years that Simms doesn't watch that much tape on these prospects, I think when it comes to receivers and corners especially he just looks at 40 times. He's even admitted he doesn't start watching properly until around the combine so there's no way he doesn't get influenced by testing. All the other draft analysts like DJ and Lance Zierlein watch tape all year round.
Your saying misinformation. Arnold is not a better cover corner than Nate Wiggins stop meat riding. Wiggins is faster, has smoother hips, and has shadow guys all over the field (tez walker, Keon Coleman) and shut them down. Don’t try Nate Wiggins like that relax
Your talking bout Chris simms doesnr watch the tape but you clearly haven’t seen a second of Nate Wiggins’s tape by saying Arnold is by far a better cover corner straight cap 😂
Take back what I said before, Ahmed is a massive company man. Vanilla to the hilt with zero personality. I guess he's there to keep Chris 'in check'. I think the show would be much better without him.
Simms makes no sense and I don’t even think he actually watches film. He said Mitchell plays mostly man coverage. He played zone most of the time. He’s also obsessed with man coverage corners but Arnold is maybe the best man cover guy in a decade….simms has no consistency with any of his takes maybe he’s got some tism in him
Yea I’m convinced he doesn’t watch tape. Terrion Arnold is the best man corner in the class according to almost everyone his only weakness is zone. And simms is the only person saying he can’t play man. Like how can you explain that Chris????
The most elite football analyst on TH-cam! Been a fan since Simms and Lefkoe.
Ahhh miss the simms and Lefkoe pods

Love being validated by Simms on Max Melton. Dude is a PHYSICAL BEAST. Lockup, tackler, instinctive. He’ll be a team’s CB1 in a year.
Im glad he doesn’t have him higher honestly, to me, he is the absolute biggest match for my detroit lions and i desperately want him in the 2nd round, hoping we go edge in first lol
@@austinbattaglia4504they should trade up for Chop Robinson maybe? Or Terrion Arnold?

Klatt sucks
Klatt is the fucking man for cfb coverage but Simms is goat tier draft analyst
That would be dope

Nobody else in the HISTORY of sports analysts gives us this ridiculously amazing info. NO ONE... Thank you COACH/GM Chris Simms YOU FREAKING ROCK!!!!
Not saying Simms is wrong about DeJean, but I’m really hoping he’s wrong 😂😭 we need a great white corner in the NFL
