The road to the show should have a element of playing with other gamers online by now. That’s the entire point. It’s dying because there’s nothing but a single player element to it
Same for every franchise, gambling addicts have ruined sports gaming forever. I get my fun on off line GM/manager type games. Out the park baseball is so much better than MLB the show just as Football manager is vastly superior to FIFA
does madden? this isnt pick up basetball or soccer what would you wanna see? a full game where its 9 on the field and 9 innings long @@recordingstudio5723
Diamond dynasty happened! Same with madden and 2k. Ultimate team and my team happened!! Those modes have ruined sports games and I’ll stand by that until something changes
Im sure for some those mode have ruined sports games but those modes dont really impact my enjoyment because i tend to just ignore them. granted im probably easier to please when it comes to sports games lol
Things I'd add to RTTS: 1) Option to retire. 2) Option to talk to manager/gm. 3) Talk to your agent whenever you want to. 4) Better track of personal achievements. 5) Being able to charge the mount/be ejected 6) More errors to make the game more realistic (I've played for years and never seen an outfielder drop a fly ball.
@@DudetaketheBusyeah, I play MLB 15 all the time (even though I have 17,18,19,21,23 & 23) and there is a menu labeled “interactions” where certain things are available. For example you can request a trade, retire, switch positions.
They’ll never put charging the mound back in (idk if it was ever in the show but ik it was in some other baseball games) because MLB doesn’t want their sport to be portrayed that way. Also if you want to see more errors you can just change the sliders
Sports games have become monopolies. Lower quality matched w/ more expensive. MLB has rolled w/ PS4 visuals & modes not touched in 5 yrs. They’ve followed the blueprint Madden perfected. Now gambling addicts who are preyed on have helped financially justify it.
"They've followed the blueprint Madden perfected" is so real. I stopped buying Madden games after like 2016. MLBTS is trending in that direction. I'm holding out hope for 24, but it's not looking good so far.
watching clips of the old rtts from a decade ago but specifically ‘16 has me feeling very nostalgic and just makes me want a fresh update to this mode.
Oooh boooyeeee. If you think that's going to make this horrible outdated game better then u don't know what game design is in 2024 or what people actually want. First and foremost we are want a good looking simulation of baseball. Down the line we can ask for high school teams (for some reason?)
@@Gdub33 Pro Baseball Spirits is almost exactly what you and OP are asking for. The baseball simulation is leagues better than The Show and you start in High School with a fairly detailed story and lots of cutscenes. Unfortunately it's NPB licensed so the odds of it ever seeing a western release are near zero unless the league starts trying to reach an international audience.
I wish they would just go back to earning points and being able to spend them on whatever attributes you want. The system now takes way too long to progress and doesn’t feel rewarding at all
I wasn't a fan of the old points system. Literally every play through you're absolutely destined for the HOF. I'd like a realistic happy medium. Can improve smoothly, not too tedious, but innovate some stuff to keep it realistic
They’ve completely ruined this mode and it’s sad. They need to keep it separate from online and make it so I can create an all 99 overall player!! The whole point of this mode was to be the best that ever was and putting caps on things for an offline mode is stupid. The online gameplay for sports games have completely ruined the offline players that just want to have fun and play a game.
The mode died in 21. The previous years you could transfer your player from the previous years game. You also couldn’t go to college and get drafted higher than the 3rd round.
Did you know max fried used to study mlb the show before his starts? I do because every 5th game the computer tells me in the 3rd inning. After 30 starts, im insane. Thanks
go back to when you got points to upgrade. i sometimes liked turning all the sliders up and becoming a baseball god on the easier settings and maxing out a 99 player. It was a sandbox. the perks and skill tress killed it.
spring training stadiums, do college ball, include wbc tourny on rrts and off rrts, bring back bp for rrts, make rrts rating way easier to upgrade unlike the show 23, allow rrts player to change position or change batting lineup by talking to manager, put trophy cases for winning awards, make salary usable, fix minor bugs within game such as pitch count not going up when on base ect, bring back showtime for making good plays, make more opportunities for throwing out runners when playing outfield. i know i based a lot on rrts cuz i mostly play rrts but i think these improvements can make a lot of people happy and make game better too cuz its going to effect other modes too.
We need this and you could also let your player go from the little league world series to high school college and the professional ranks that would give us something new
My biggest problem with RTTS is that when you have a two way player , You can’t hit and pitch in the same game in RTTS mode , I know you can do it in diamond dynasty but I’m a RTTS guy since the show 14 , I hope this year they make us have a real two way player in RTTS mode
The biggest reason why I bought this for years was because of RTTS and the Year to Year Saves that ensured I wasn't sinking money into something that would be meaningless the following year. This was the case up until 21, when that went away and it got integrated with Diamond Dynasty. That killed the mode. 18 was kinda rough with the caps they put on it which shouldn't have been there. 20 is probably my favorite of all time, then 17. If they ever return to what it was, which was a non money grabbing deal where what we invest in our guy carries over from one year to the next...then I will probably be back. I loved having my guy come up to custom themes off my system and hearing certain songs as I make my Homer trot. This video hit on why I stopped with this game after 20. I can't stand the load out nonsense. What they did in 18 was tolerable, BARELY.
20 is the only MLB The Show I’ve played and tbh I don’t see any reason to stop playing it. I’ve played it from around it’s release date to this very day
I always liked earning training points based on performance and being able to pick where you want to apply them to. That was what I liked best about MLB 16
I last bought 22. I skipped 23 because of the lack of improvement but I can wait to see what 24 may have. I only play rtts offline so the only think I miss out on is new equipment.
Downside now is you can't find any Diamond equipment in the market. I have all the gold and silver equipment but only 4 diamond items. The only thing I can find is bat skins
They need to let us spend our contract money like in NHL like buying a sports car, a vacation for the team, And a new house. let us get sponsorships too like from Nike or new balance that gives us discounts in the store from our sponsor. and an actual story and not just a cut scene with a deep country voice narrating my story
As someone who’s played every the show since 15 and also the show 11 I 100% agree. I’ve barely played any rtts on 21-23 even though I used to spend ungodly amounts of time on the older games rtts. Another feature that they removed that you didn’t talk about is the ability to continue your rtts career through different games from the show 14-20, that’s still why 20 is probably my personal favorite the show game.
The WBC should be added to the game. It could be implemented in every game mode and add a new tournament besides the Homerun Derby. Imagine playing RTTS and before the season begins every 3 years you can decide if you want to play in the WBC. I feel like that would be really cool.
Rtts 13 was the reason I switched from Xbox to ps in the first place. I got a ps4, then ps5. Now with the current status of developers across the market, I do not own a ps5 and do not plan to play games anymore. It’s hard to watch these modes that had a lot of potential, do absolutely nothing for the game. Even 2K back in 2016 had one of the best career experiences I’ve had in a long time with Freq and college basketball. Of all time, my favorite. Since then, they have gone away from actually making a memorable story mode that added a lot of depth to your character and instead you are literally just nicknamed the same thing every year.
RTTS used to have a batting practice before the games. The announcer in game would even say things like watgh out for fly balls keep the park clean if a fire happens these are the exits like an actual park
There's also a persistent bug they refuse to address and that's pitcher attributes not increasing beyond a certain point(usually 36-37) I'm done with MLB the Show unless RTTS is dramatically improved
I don't play RTTS, but as a Franchise player I bet I have experienced what has happened here too. Every mode has been pushed aside what could be effectively called the Gatcha mode at best.
Worst thing about the series, as I see it, is the complete lack record tracking. Back in the day- you could find all time records of almost every statistic. Now it’s a hollow shell- only showing career records for homers, hits, wins, and a handful of others. It feels pointless to pursue career records because there aren’t even leaderboards for it anymore. You’re either the record holder or lost to history entirely. Baseball is such a statistics based sport. Ridiculous to not include in depth stat tracking especially when games from the early 2000s did it.
I've been playing since the beginning, and I personally still love the mode. Just this year alone I've played 7 seasons with my guy and am now in the year 2030. The mode is really what you make of it, but I do agree that it needs more love from the devs.
I think these companies are moving away from single player modes. It's a business, SdS is doing the bare minimum every year. Maybe RTTS reached its peak, they don't have creative ways to improve the mode. Maybe it's not possible with current Gen . The employees are not talented enough could be the reason.
First time with your content and I’m so glad that you just dive right in to the topic and actually have a substantive discussion. I hate long, drawn-out, throat clearing intros so thank you.
The same issue with MLBTS (where the 1st hour or so of the experience ) that 2K & Madden has, ONLY the beginning has anything in it, the rest is player lock mode for real. I would prefer to set my own points and get rid of the DD style perks, templates were fine so long as you can crack the cap (either with equipment or as I would prefer breaking through milestones [caps are silly]). I prefer the MLB 12-13 style of RTTS if anything as I despise the mode having anything to do with DD.
I still play the mlb the show 19 And 16, 17. Those my favorite ones. I hate they had made changes. It still good but they skip the summer training. But it need a new refreshing now
I really stopped playing it in 22 when I chose to see what it was like to be a Closing Pitcher, and it was brutal 'cause I kept getting Challenges constantly and my Manager would relieve me before the challenge ended and the better I did the quicker I got pulled. The worse I did (on purpose) the longer I got to stay in. I primarily play as a Starting Pitcher. It's my best position but my player doesn't get those stats that go along with it so, what's the point?
What would be the best Show on the PS4? I got 20 for free, but I can get the older games on the cheap. Sadly every time I ask this, I get “get the new one” or “Diamond Dynasty is good” shills.
I don’t understand why players don’t get slowed down by age. There’s no way my age 45 player is performing better than he did at age 29. Once you hit 36 you should slowly start losing attributes.
As a sports gamer who loves career modes. This is the top modern career mode. NHL isn’t the best gameplay, madden is boring, nba 2k feels to online, and ea fc is soccer. Road to the show is still really solid and has a bright future
Just like in Madden and NBA2K, the focus is all on the online aspects of the game and how much money they can milk out of players. That's why Road to the Show is dead. They don't want you playing off line. They don't want you spending hours just customizing your character and playing single player modes. Only way we're going to change that is to find developers that will focus on the offline modes instead.
Diamond Dynasty is a game killer for me.. I've never played it. I don't want it. I'm not a fan of playing sports online. Not really a fan of playing games with people online. Absolutely loved RTTS before. I enjoyed the showcase part. I agree with the equipment thing too.. Though I feel like the game artifically punishes you sometimes when using the equipment right away..
imo the same thing every sports game suffers from and what makes them unplayable. If you aren't willing to spend hundreds of extra dollars to play the live service online game modes you basically don't have a place in the game. Diamond dynasty, ultimate team, 2k mycareer online play, etc. They're all cooked because none of them care about making a good solo experience. They want to maximize microtransactions to profit and that's it.
Let's not forget the RTTS '23 bug where if you were a pitcher you couldn't progress your attributes past 35 (or was it 37?). They knew it was a problem and never fixed it.
Anyone that says diamond dynasty ruined this game is full of it. I think they have done great with this mode. You can play online, or play against the computer (what I do). It’s really easy to EARN good players and not have to pay for anything. It’s fun and addicting and a nice shake up from franchise and road to the show. Stop comparing diamond dynasty to ea’s bs ultimate team crap where it’s pretty much required to pay for packs and what not. The show is still far and away the best sports game out there right now.
- Here are some of the examples why RTTS is so difficult to play: 1. Teammates constantly getting out when you are on the bags. (I don't look forward to a rally) 2. Bad calls on the base paths. (He's clearly out/safe in replay...situation pending). 3. Opponents mysterious cut scene rallies (I can be up 6-0 and lose 8-10 WHAT THE HELL). 4. It seems that key teams wins the division every season example: Cleveland Guardians in the Central. (I can some how win 7 straight and still be 5 out of first WHAT THE HELL). Man I've literally uninstalled MLB 2/25/24 I'm tired of fooling myself.
What I miss most is being able to transfer my career year to year in the games so that I can continue to play the career in the next game. I get 2-3 seasons into the game and then a new one comes out and then have to restart and it is annoying
I played one of the PS3 versions long time ago, never touched it again until 2022, tried it and it feels almost the same, bought it again in 23, and quite surprised how similar it was without any notable fun difference… Then seeing this video, I’m quite amazed how the movement of the players haven’t changed much or even not changed at all all these years..
I have a lot to say about this mode. Road to the Show was the reason I even bought the game initially in 2017. It was awesome to be a baseball god, and have no restrictions. Then in 18, they completely botched it by adding caps, 19 was a little better, but not great, and I didn't play much 20. Then in 21, they combined it with DD, which is where it took a turn for the worse. Honestly, archetypes this year were a little better, because you could improve 3 of the four main points of your player (contact, power, speed, and fielding), and the other could be improved with perks and/or equipment. With the point we're at now in 23, your archetype only improves TWO of the main points, basically taking away your ability to be a five tool player. Why the hell would they add restrictions to a role-playing game? That just makes no sense, it's like adding an easy mode to dark souls, it takes away from the purpose of the game. Why can't I just be an immaculate player in a role playing game where it's technically possible, I hate it so much. Obviously, yeah, if it's gonna be intertwined with DD, then they have to balance it, but WHY does it HAVE to be intertwined with DD? It is LAUGHABLY stupid. (Small side rant - Why does equipment I put on my ballplayer HAVE TO SHOW UP IN GAME. Especially the socks, omg the socks are so ugly, and now in 23, you can't even change your pants style, you HAVE to play with your socks showing if you have socks equipped, it pulls me out of the game, gosh I hate it so much) Thanks for reading this weird rant if you've made it this far
Id honestly be fine with the progression if there were more to do with your character outside the core gameplay (sponsorships, relationships, rivals, public reputation, scouting/college, meaningful manager and agent meetings). Personally dont care that replays remove restrictions since the mode is so grindy to begin with. Happy they added women this year as a woman who wants the same wish fulfillment fantasy as guys. Also happy they fixed the two way rule so i can be a closer without having to take a full game off of hitting. But still I want actual changes to make it more worthy of a game mode in its own right. Honestly 2000s PGA and Madden games had more immersive career modes than RTtS
14:00 I disagree with this take: that it's okay to allow players to P2W in single player. The problem with this is that game designers will stretch out the grind to incentivize players to spend real world money. Designers design the game (that you're already paying $70 for) to feel right if you spend more money on top of that.
Sadly, RTTS was gutted because the studio didn’t want to have another game mode to update regularly. It really stinks because it was the only reason I played. I haven’t played since ‘22 and doubt I ever will. They don’t care about us guys.
I want more RPG elements. And more conversations and events. I wanna be able to agree with an umpire. Charge the mound when I get hit. Have a bad relationship with my manager. I want to do interviews and have them go good or bad. I want it to feel like I'm a person playing baseball. Every aspect.
Not to mention the rtts programs don’t track your stats for you to progress. I didn’t buy 23 because it was pretty much the same thing as 22 and I’ve been back on my rtts grind now that it’s baseball season again and I cannot progress in my programs at all. I’ve played a season and a half and am still in bronze tier. This has been an issue ever since they introduced archetypes and it hasn’t been resolved yet. I really hope 24 either fixes this problem or brings back some of the fun perks they had back in 16 as I feel that was the most fun I had playing rtts. It just hasn’t hit the same these past 4 or 5 years.
This is the one game mode I spent literal RPG hours playing. I don't have the save anymore but on my 2012 copy, my RTTS was about 12 seasons in and I had played almost 90% of the seasons games in full length.
I prefer the RTTS prior to 2021. I loved getting points and making my player my own. I also liked having a few different players. It kept the game fresh and each player I created started from scratch. Let’s get back to that stuff.
I only play road to the show, get to the majors and never touch it again. I used to play it so much. I won’t lie though, I do love diamond dynasty and don’t have to spend any $
I was really glad the show made it to Xbox and enjoyed it that first year. All these years later and I feel like I'm basically playing the same thing. There is no reasoning behind call ups. You can be hitting .500 with 100 rbis and 50 HR and you're still in AAA. I understand they want realism, but being stuck on a team with your rookie contract sucks. I hate to sim beyond that bc then current players are retired. Trade requests should happen more often.
I had never known that RTTS was so lazy. I bought a PS4 in 2019 and picked up MLB The Show 19 because I was tired of Xbox not having a MLB game. You'd have to play the old MLB 2K games. I enjoyed RTTS 19 but when 20 released, I saw no reason to upgrade. Then PS exclusives that got be to buy the console went to Xbox; MLB The Show and Yakuza. I remember playing 21 a good amount but hardly touched 22 and 23. It just felt like the same gameplay loop and was the Madden of baseball. Some minor changes but you'd have to wait several years for any major changes (if that) to happen. The only saving grace for me is it being on Game Pass now.
I used to love rtts in 16. Kept playing that for years until I decided to buy 22. So I didn't experience gradual changes. To me it was a drastic change and didn't enjoy it. Now I stick to franchise and I'm addicted to it to be honest. Love the GM aspect of the game( drafting and developing players, trades, contracts, etc)
My complaint is against the A.I. in single player mode. The weekly sliders adjustments gotta play a part that comes along with the roster update... I can come out smash a couple homerun's one week and the next week all pop ups or out of bounds flys, so aggravating!! When i score you can look for the A.I. to pretty much score the next time they're up to bat... Last major two major issue can we please show more animation when the A.I. in field defense is fielding the ball horizontally instead of hitting the ball straight at them via on the ground or linedrives... Last and most important Stop making my outfielders juke in the oppsite direction before trying to field a ball this is so aggravating and takes away from the gm....
I actually like building a 99 player like in the past. I only want to play road to the show. The creator has a point here, in a single player game if I want to dominate MLB, then let me do that. If I don’t then let me be able to start over.
The fact that all the way up to this very day they still don't have dynamic flags flying bothers me... literally every game the flags fly straight out.. c'mon..
i think my biggest gripe for the show is getting rid of year to year saves. i was able to do a 20 year careering spanning from mlb 14 to mlb 18 and it probably is my greatest memory in gaming. and to not have that anymore kind of sucks. i dont game as much anymore and im lucky to finish one season of rtts these days and then the next year i have to make a whole new player
I did prefer the upgrade method of the older games. Being able to put training points to whatever you want and not being capped at 50 without the use of equipment as well as upgrading all attributes that you may not be able to upgrade through the game play. I hope they go back to that.
Lets not forget to mention that while it was a smart move to open the game up to people who use xbox, the xbox version isnt that good in the respect that it is choppy as hell. It is already hard enough to read a pitch amd teact to it in a split second, but it becomes borderline impossible when it is coming at you in only like 7 frames….I get that people will say that its because I should be using a Playstation, but my question is why put out a product on a platform if it isnt going to be good quality-wise?
MLB The show and Road to the show need to expand outside of America with your career. Go play in Japan Australia Mexico Europe ect. They need to give you more variety. Imagine when Shohei was the cover athlete and you could start your career in Japan. It would have gone off.
The main issue that made it unplayable for me is the unrealistic trades the cpu made. You can’t turn trades off w/out sacrificing rewards, & the realism died. For example, I had an A potential 3B who was starting, yet cpu traded my A potential AA pitcher for 37 y/o Evan Longoria. CPU gutted my entire roster where I didn’t recognize ny team w/in 1 year & was unbalanced like having 4 75+ 3B w/ only 1 SS, horrible salary cap allocation w/ 7 SP making serious money but no good relievers
There is a reason I have stopped playing MLB and the NBA games. Paying to be high rated. Plus I have a family and full time job, I play to relax and get 1 or 2 days a week to play depending on family plans
I came back to the franchise with 2022 and MAAAN i freaking hated it. The grinding, the dependable on the online mode, the equipment determing your stats, the badgets. I hated everything about it. It everything i hate about modern sport games
RTTS is the only mode I'm interested in or would ever be interested in. If it gets nerfed or ignored as it has ben for years then I'll just carry on playing old versions of the game. I'm getting old (almost 60) and no where near good enough to play online. I tried once and got completely slaughtered. NO amount of "get gud" is going to help as my reactions at my age are very much worse than they were 10 or 15 years ago. I find DD mode too much of a chore. I'm not interested in collection cards, competing with others or any of that. Just having the fantasy of being a great player in a single player game
My ps4 broke last time I played was 2019 bought it last year for ps5 and couldn't believe how bad rtts was not to mention they have about 15 face scans for the royals how does Vinnie pasquontino not have his face scan he's on MLB network all the time
amazing job highlighting how incredibly bad RTTS has gotten. it's true, this used to be THE mode that got us excited to play this game to begin with. what was once a heraldedpart of the franchise has been severely neglected for nearly a decade. all it would take would be SOME effort into the immersion aspect in my opinion. those podcast videos they added and keep expanding upon are absolute garbage. just generic rambles about baseball. we should be able to do basic things like keeping track of awards, milestones, all star appearances, records broken, world series titles, etc. It'd be bonus if that stuff would come up in the game too or if there was some presentation factor. Manager interactions could actually be more accurate, nothing kills the vibe more when the manager is telling us we're out of the race and to finish out a rough season despite leading in the wild card. It's been like this for so many years. There needs to be more fanfare for record breaking, more records and even team records. They could make bigger deals about big game moments, big season moments, rivalries, etc. Not generic podcast drivel. Maybe that would make the mode bearable despite the attribute caps and archetypes they forced on us. Nothing infruriates me more than being unable to determine my pitch arsenal velocities. Want a big fastball and slow 70 looping curve? You can't do it. Forcing RTTS into DD was the worst decision they made and led to it's ultimate downfall. And they make no real effort into the actual game mode experience or presentation. The agent/manager cutscenes and interactions have been untouched for god knows how long. It's still just minimal effort into the experience of RTTS. Do better SDS.
It so ridiculous that RTTS has been out since MLB 07 and yet we still have no Single-A or Rookie Leagues in the game. That would be a easy way to make RTTS more interesting but for some reason SDS just doesn't seem to care about the MiLB.
i wish we could play high school and college along with wbc it just adds more life and realism how sick would it be to take your high school to a state chip
I have a different background with this game. I spent most of the Xbox 360/ PS3 era on Xbox. I only repurchased a PS3 at the end of the era and did the same with the PS4. I was an MLB 2k player on Xbox 360 and basically left baseball video games behind as Xbox One didn't have an MLB game for almost a decade. I was mostly a PC gamer at that point and only ended up repurchasing an Xbox One at a pawn shop. Later that year I found out that MLB The Show 21 was coming to Xbox. I hadn't played an MLB game since 2013 so this got me back into it. The game ran poorly on my base Xbox One so I ended up trading it for an Xbox One S, and later the One X. I did end up getting a PS4 and going back and playing all of the MLB The Show games of that era and even picking up 14 - 16 for my PS3. I love all of the MLB games and think it is the best career mode in sports period. 2k has been a grind since 2k18 and badges kill offline career modes. MLB feels the least like an online grind of all of the sports games but I agree I hate the change. I would like to go back to MLB 16/17 skills progression that didn't rely on perks and gear to max out my player. I want to wear the gear I like or use in real life. I hate the fact that once servers are down I can't go back and change to my licensed gear. Basically, everything is geared towards online even if you only want the single-player experience and that sucks. 2k and Madden aren't any better. 2k removes cut scenes completely for offline players. MLB is the only sports game I still look forward to buying and that's not even at full price. I would like a completely offline Road to The Show mode with skills progression from the PS3 era and gear I can unlock and keep forever offline. I don't even need the gear to have perks to them. Just allow me to be able to max out my only offline career player.
Finally somebody speaking out. Really hope SDS sees this video and help them understand that this is a offline mode and we wanna see our player “99” rates and get picked number 1, we also want to be 5 tool players. Why is that so hard to do?
The stupid cut scenes forced everyone to have the same story and sucked the individuality out of the mode. The original RTTS from 06 and 07 just gave basic options allowing you to make your own choices.
i think that if the want to balance CAPS for online, make us decide if its going to be online or offline only. Why shouldn't I be allowed to have a maxed out 125 ovr in offline play?
23 was my first entry into this series. And I have been super excited to see what 24’s Going to bring. But this swiftly dashed all of my hopes and dreams lol.
I stopped at 20. To me it's the most balanced and it feels like a proper grind. The stat gains being somewhat finicky with say losing arm accuracy no matter if you throw to the right base or not or losing power on a good swing but it feels overly fair. It makes me want to continue grinding my way up to the bigs.
This is the fourth game and no engine upgrade for PS5. I've played this game since 07 on PS3 and if I don't see any progress within RTTS, I'm actually going to skip. The same has happened with NHL. No competition, no need to progress. Sad reality.
As who’s spent thousands of hours playing RTTS, I agree with almost everything you said. Except the replay-ability with load outs. I think it’s fun coming into the league as a highly rated prospect. I wanna be Bryce Harper, not Jon Singleton
Great video, but you missed my biggest complaint about The Show 21! Yes, you can pitch and hit... But not in the same game! They sold it like "You can be Shohei!" but you can't, because Shohei goes straight from the mound to the outfield, and my guy can't play third base using his pitcher loadout (and he can't hit either). I just couldn't believe that was how they chose to implement that, admittedly cool, change to the mode.
After I realized you could just bot resales of the diamond gloves and bats and get infinite in game money it became too easy with all stats +20 from accessories
Not me watching this while currently playing MLB 15 RTTS on my PS Vita 😬 I agree, once 18 hit the mode went downhill. 20 was pretty cool but I continue to play 15 on my Vita, or 17 and 20 on my ps4 depending on how I feel
I dont necessarily agree with your gripe against saved equipment. I play to hit missles at any level. I play only RTTS where stubs are hard to grind for, so the equipment i bought with those stubs would not be fun to have to re-buy. I really hate the same animations for about a decade now. Stale as year old opened chips. Especially base running. Also hate the in-game attribute progression: namely plate vision. If I take a fastball down the dick because I'm looking for a slider to crush, I shouldn't be punished for having an approach. Also have often hit a rocket on the ground, but get "poor contact" for the ground ball. In no way is a 98mph ground ball bad contact. Or if my stealing is low, but stealing is the only way to increase it other than the very slow training sessions, how else am I to progress? I don't *hate* the loadout system, although i do prefer the old "pick what you please" system. If I want a sure-fire HOFer, I should be able to do so. If I'd rather have a challenging experience trying to bat over the mendoza line, I should be able to do so as well. Just a very overall clunky and stale experience
Super well done! Nailed it. For me, the integration of RTTS into Diamond Dynasty has been a nightmare. For fans of DD it is annoying to see these broken ballplayers in Ranked Seasons. It feels cheap and corny. For RTTS players, I would imagine seeing all of the "improvements" to your favorite mode being exclusively tied to DD is very frustrating.
I honestly love the female player mode
@KyleLewisGames14 they're focusing on stuff that doesn't matter. Overhaul franchise.
Female create mode is irrelevant. Female mode needs to be in a soft ball game.
Single player content is always the last thing the developers care about 😢
The road to the show should have a element of playing with other gamers online by now. That’s the entire point. It’s dying because there’s nothing but a single player element to it
Same for every franchise, gambling addicts have ruined sports gaming forever.
I get my fun on off line GM/manager type games. Out the park baseball is so much better than MLB the show just as Football manager is vastly superior to FIFA
retard spotted@@recordingstudio5723
does madden? this isnt pick up basetball or soccer what would you wanna see? a full game where its 9 on the field and 9 innings long @@recordingstudio5723
Which sucks cause I almost exclusively play sports games single player.
Diamond dynasty happened! Same with madden and 2k. Ultimate team and my team happened!! Those modes have ruined sports games and I’ll stand by that until something changes
🎯
Im sure for some those mode have ruined sports games but those modes dont really impact my enjoyment because i tend to just ignore them. granted im probably easier to please when it comes to sports games lol
I agree 100%. Anything that makes more money is going to be prioritized and everything else is ignored.
Oh most definitely. Those 3 modes are the $$$$$ makers for those games. They really don't care about modes they can't monetize.
Yep you answered everything right there and I agree
Things I'd add to RTTS:
1) Option to retire.
2) Option to talk to manager/gm.
3) Talk to your agent whenever you want to.
4) Better track of personal achievements.
5) Being able to charge the mount/be ejected
6) More errors to make the game more realistic (I've played for years and never seen an outfielder drop a fly ball.
3 and 4 are a MUST
Some of the things you mentioned were already in the game, and they took it out.
@@jdmoy0321it was. It would cut out right when you were charging the mound.
@@cosmoid You might not regret OOTP. I also think FUT came first.
@finnb2318 I've tried OOTP before, it's just a LOT to take in. I'll probably try it again though if MLBTS continues down this path after 24.
OOTP has also been going down that route, since at least 2019
watching clips of the old rtts from a decade ago but specifically ‘16 has me feeling very nostalgic and just makes me want a fresh update to this mode.
They need to bring back training points. It is missed greatly. These perks are horrible and make your ball player Feel like a lab creation.
honestly I just keep playing the old RTTS bc those modes were just better than whats been since 18
@@Archmage_74the diamond dynasty mode ruined this game mode
Adding high school and college teams giving you the full experience would help story mode and authentic cut scenes
Exactly it would make the game better
I want that so bad but they can’t do that unless SDS buys the rights to college teams
Might as well have people start in little league lol
100% agree. That’s the reason I really stopped playing. Takes WAY TOO LONG to upgrade my guy so I don’t even plan on getting the game anymore.
Agreed, and I hated load outs. Load outs made me quit RTTS.
It’s also annoying how you have to use internet to download a game and play it. What happened to just slapping in a disc and playing? It’s ridiculous.
@@PrickFlair The game downloads to the SSD bc the disk is too slow to allow the game to load as it requires.
@chocolatemilk679 If that's the case then it sounds like rhe game isn't ready for the market.
Thanks
Best comment😂😂
go back to when you got points to upgrade. i sometimes liked turning all the sliders up and becoming a baseball god on the easier settings and maxing out a 99 player.
It was a sandbox. the perks and skill tress killed it.
Forcing all players to accept limits is always a worse choice than giving them the option to limit themselves
spring training stadiums, do college ball, include wbc tourny on rrts and off rrts, bring back bp for rrts, make rrts rating way easier to upgrade unlike the show 23, allow rrts player to change position or change batting lineup by talking to manager, put trophy cases for winning awards, make salary usable, fix minor bugs within game such as pitch count not going up when on base ect, bring back showtime for making good plays, make more opportunities for throwing out runners when playing outfield. i know i based a lot on rrts cuz i mostly play rrts but i think these improvements can make a lot of people happy and make game better too cuz its going to effect other modes too.
We need this and you could also let your player go from the little league world series to high school college and the professional ranks that would give us something new
@@Amb252thats asking for a lot from them 😭
This entire game needs a massive overhaul from top to bottom.
@mike8610 It's over. You need to go back to 10 if you want anything good.
My biggest problem with RTTS is that when you have a two way player , You can’t hit and pitch in the same game in RTTS mode , I know you can do it in diamond dynasty but I’m a RTTS guy since the show 14 , I hope this year they make us have a real two way player in RTTS mode
that’s one of my biggest gripes with rtts
How do you do it with Diamond Dynasty?
@@gerrybonds
Diamond Dynasty doesn’t have DH
@@warlordofbritannia Yes it does, it was added with 23
The biggest reason why I bought this for years was because of RTTS and the Year to Year Saves that ensured I wasn't sinking money into something that would be meaningless the following year.
I forgot about the year to year saves
20 is the only MLB The Show I’ve played and tbh I don’t see any reason to stop playing it. I’ve played it from around it’s release date to this very day
I always liked earning training points based on performance and being able to pick where you want to apply them to. That was what I liked best about MLB 16
I last bought 22. I skipped 23 because of the lack of improvement but I can wait to see what 24 may have. I only play rtts offline so the only think I miss out on is new equipment.
Same
Downside now is you can't find any Diamond equipment in the market. I have all the gold and silver equipment but only 4 diamond items. The only thing I can find is bat skins
If everything was kept separate and improved every year with QOL updates and something new every 2 years we'd have something good for everyone.
They need to let us spend our contract money like in NHL like buying a sports car, a vacation for the team, And a new house. let us get sponsorships too like from Nike or new balance that gives us discounts in the store from our sponsor. and an actual story and not just a cut scene with a deep country voice narrating my story
That doesn't bring anything to gameplay itself. Just create that dumb fanfic in your own head and let's get them to adress real issues with the mode
@@LMarcon11rude for what
As someone who’s played every the show since 15 and also the show 11 I 100% agree.
Amazing video. I agree the mode is horrible now. I miss the good old ps3 days where the mode felt real and authentic.
I seriously miss being able to request a trade any time. Not waiting a full season it seems like
The developers are turning it into Madden, there should be more spring training parks, more classical parks, and classic uniforms, and many more
I think these companies are moving away from single player modes. It's a business,
SdS is doing the bare minimum every year.
But it need a new refreshing now
Also, STOP penalizing us for taking a first pitch strike. That's LITERALLY baseball fundamentals.
Right. They give you the choice to "Get a hit after taking the first pitch" then penalize you for taking the first pitch.
Same here, have not played RTTS longer then 2 hours a year in 4 years and really want to, could be my favorite, should be my favorite
It’s so ridiculous that Road To The Show is so BLAND. As much crap NBA 2K gets for their my player, I wish The Show was half of what 2k is.
This was spot on. My playing time was practically zero last year. Single player modes always get screwed.
Someone needs to tell SDS about this
- Here are some of the examples why RTTS is so difficult to play:
1. Teammates constantly getting out when you are on the bags. (I don't look forward to a rally)
I played one of the PS3 versions long time ago, never touched it again until 2022, tried it and it feels almost the same, bought it again in 23, and quite surprised how similar it was without any notable fun difference…
Then seeing this video, I’m quite amazed how the movement of the players haven’t changed much or even not changed at all all these years..
Especially the socks, omg the socks are so ugly, and now in 23, you can't even change your pants style, you HAVE to play with your socks showing if you have socks equipped, it pulls me out of the game, gosh I hate it so much)
Thanks for reading this weird rant if you've made it this far
I remember the pre game batting practice
MLB 23 also had a game breaking bug that was never fixed for road to the show pitchers
RTTS and Franchise are rotting away as diamond dynasty money gets the attention like every sports game. It’s a shame.
I still go back to mlb the show 14-17 before the archetypes
Didn't even notice majority of these points, excellent breakdown
Also, what's with the ridiculous minor league stadiums like the one with the monster trucks just beyond the outfield fences?
i wish we could play high school and college along with wbc it just adds more life and realism how sick would it be to take your high school to a state chip
Man the menus & presentation used to be soooo fire.... WHY DID THEY CHANGE IT
I have a different background with this game.
Not changing the mode from 2019 would have been an improvement to whatever the fuck the latest RTTS is
Finally somebody speaking out.
Not me watching this while currently playing MLB 15 RTTS on my PS Vita 😬
I agree, once 18 hit the mode went downhill.
