The Schindler buttons are not coated in resin, they used to have lots of tape stuck all over them to "protect us against coronavirus" and now they've removed it, lots of the glue from the tape has stayed on the buttons causing them to stick. I expect those Schindler lifts will be gone soon as they often break down. That Next used to be Topshop. The old next was in that place with the wooden hoarding around it which used to have a lift, and that lift was in fact a Schindler Miconic hydraulic lift. It was very efficient and had a rare voice. Sadly that is gone. Robert Dyas has a stannah there, im sure you saw that lift while you were there. The lift in M&S used to have the ILE voice, it was a very nice lift until the voice broke... such a shame. The lift in WHSmith uses hydroware, the voice is Hydroware. It does have custom announcements in that voice though. Boots used to be an Express Evans now it is that Kone thing, it has always smelled weird, I'm assuming you noticed that. Waterstones used to be Monsoon, which is why it has an IMEM. That voice is not recorded by a staff member. That's just one of IMEM's many voices. The Otis Gen2 in House of Fraser is not an Otis Gen2 at all. It is an Otis 2000, you can tell by the clunk the motor makes when it starts up. There is nothing about it that is an Otis Gen2, when the shaft lights were on, I saw it still had original steel cables and everything and it obviously still has the original motor from when it was an Otis 2000. I don't know why it says it is a Gen2. When you went to LG in House of Fraser you are allowed to be on that floor, it just opens out in to a weird little bit The motor is NOT an Ecodisc in that lift in the libary! How on earth is it an Ecodisc? That motor is most likely a Ziehl Abegg or Sassi motor. Nothing about that is an Ecodisc. It's just your standard MRL motor. That motor was the same when it was replaced by Crown lifts with IMEM. The current state is just a controller and fixture replacement, everything else stayed the same. Shame you missed the car parks, they are very interesting.
1. I don't know why I said resin, I knew they were antibacterial tape things. 2. That explains the stannah, I wonder if topshop in Brent cross used to be a next? 3. I did go into robert dyas but the lift was broken. I did see the remnants of the old miconic. 4. Never heard the hydroware voice in any other lift apart from a WHSmith in Reading, which is why I assumed it was WHSmith's own announcements, Other Hydroware installations I've been in have other 3rd party voice units. 5. The white lift tucked away in the corner is in "COS" iirc 6. Imem's announcements are very low quality for something that isn't custom, even my mic can do better announcements, theirs sounds like it's been dipped in water and someone tried recording underwater 7. Maybe the lift cab was refurbished by otis and they didn't have any 2000 labels so they but a gen2 one instead. 8. The only motors I've heard clunk are ecodiscs. And even then only some ecodiscs make that clunk sound.
@@EEverything360 it won't be that as when the IMEM was originally installed I don't think that motor even existed. It's most likely quite an early MRL motor as lots of early MRL motors have very loud clunks
The fact that they removed the glass lift at White Lion Walk is just sad. That lift was epic and had rare capacitive call buttons (as well as Dewhurst ones which I'm guessing were added later, inside it just had Dewhurst buttons, but could've originally had more capacitive Schindler buttons).
15:57 Okay now this is probably the strangest lift I’ve ever been in, the lift here is an Evans that was modernized by Crown lifts (Technical Lift Group) and then again by Amalgamated lifts, what is weird is that the motor is the ecodisc during the second mod because of this I thought it was a modernized Monospace um Amalgamated lifts isn’t owned by Kone, How did it get this ecodisc motor please let me know in the comments below.
That motor on the amalgamated modded lift is probably a zeta disc. A ecodisc motor rip off made by zhiell abegg. That zeta disc does sound like an ecodisc. The zeta disc is used by a lot of generic companies
"zeta disc" isn't a thing its a ZADisc secondly whats a generic lift, its third party not generic as generic makes the companies seem bad, which they are not, the zadisc also isn't really a ripoff as kone can't really copyright having a motor put on the tracks on the side of the lift shaft can they, many companies could easily make that
