I remember how I felt hearing this in a high school history class in the 70’s. I was moved to tears then, and I still am when I listen to it today.
I hope they are still playing this for kids in history classes.

I remember listening to this with my first serious high school girlfriend in the late 70’s. At the end of the broadcast day KKDA would play this. How could anyone not be moved? I understood so little about anything, but thought I knew everything. This made me want to make a difference, to change the world so that every person knew these things and felt this idea to their core. Now, I know only that I still know so little, and probably understand less. But I still know that everyone is somebody deserving of respect, love, food, medicine, a home, an education...
Looking at the political climate in this country and others; or the day to day media driven consumer frenzy, buy, buy, buy! The total lack of basic courtesy among our leaders; it should be no surprise if they are corrupt, feel entitled, and lie, lie, lie. They can’t even talk civilly about the daily challenges facing all of us to just make it through today, much less how to resolve climate change, or the other indignities wrought on Mother Earth. I don’t worry too much about Mother Earth. She can take care of herself. She will shake us off if we don’t do right by her. But I do worry about us, young and old, sick or well, happy or miserable. I worry because we have lost focus. We have lost our self love without which we cannot love another. We can’t see the simple facts of our own suffering as it really is.
To each and every sentient being in this house, in this neighborhood, in this city, in this state, in this nation, on this planet, in this universe and any other, I offer this prayer:
May each of you be from from anger.
May each of you be free from ill will.
May each of you be free from jealousy.
May each of you be free from physical suffering.
May each of you be free from mental suffering.
May each of you be well.
May each of you be happy.
May each of you be at peace.
If anyone feels this can be so, that these feelings of loving kindness can be made manifest in their lives or if you wish it for someone you know, then join me in praying this, not to any god, but to ourselves. Let each person who wants this to be so hold themselves to the high standards of thinking, speaking and acting that lead to these ends. Take it as your own responsibility for as far as you can reach each day to share this video and these prayers. If we all purify our minds, speech and actions we can all free ourselves from our suffering.
I am tired, I feel alone, will somebody join me each morning as I pray this again, and again? Will somebody commit to holding themselves to the highest standards of thought, speech and action? I hope to “see” later this morning as the sun rises wherever you are.
    With loving kindness for all,
    JTI, 2020/01/19-00:49

This made my Saturday morning. It’s been many a long year since i first heard that broadcast. And it’s been about a year and three quarters since I wrote the first response to the original post. But reading that you, too, remember hear it made me feel happy. Since I first wrote a few of you out there have given my comment a thumbs up. Thank you. And two of you have written, thank you very much. Re-reading my note and the two responses just reminds me that my chanting the Metta prayer daily does help. I still do it along with my other prayers and chants of thankfulness and help and peace to all.
I still hope some of you will join me and add this chant to your daily practice. If you want to know more prayers or chants I’ve found helpful please reply here and I’ll provide my contact information. Or private message me if you can. I’m not sure how that’s done on YT.
Special blessings and thanks to Samaiyal Addams and Ma’Allyah Jones, and may all of you find peace in your hearts.

I remember meeting Mr Jackson in Washington DC,on the Washington Mall Lawn during a Equality March. I came with an associate former high rank Army Official and saw Mr Jackson with television actress Victoria Rowell. There were metal barricades separating the crowds from them and the stair area. I climbed over the barrier expecting to be detained by the guards that were there or shot. The event was televised so I assumed that was the reason why I wasn't. I walked right up to Jesse and he grabbed and held my hand and told me that I was someone special and that I was going to do big things. He had a feeling. We hugged and sat down next to each other while Victoria remained silent.
I said hello to her as well, yet she was very silent....I couldn't let anything ruin that moment with one of the Men that helped with the Civil Rights Movement!!

I am assuming that the movie about Jesse will not be released until he dies. Like many other figures. And he may live another 10+ years so they could actually cast both Will as the elder Jackson and Will’s son, Jayden can play the younger Jesse. Or, I hope, they find an unknown brilliant actor.

    @thisgirlshair 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

The negative comments here are so revealing. All this man is saying is that somebody "may be" in a state they don't feel good about, but that they are still somebody deserving of respect and care. And some people here are losing their minds in response to that. They CAN NOT be at peace with the notion that people (and all life for that matter) should receive respect and treatment with care and concern. The thinking that opposes that is low and unworthy to lead and design things. A lot of people who couldn't get on board with what Jackson is saying here have helped design cultures, homes, and churches, and they have contributed many painful contributions for everyone in those things.
You can see the harm in this way of thinking in parent-child relationships. Whether your children have done right or wrong, what good parent doesn't help the child do better, what good parent tells their child they are nobody and that they deserve no care and concern? These are the types of parents that hurt their children. And a lot of people see their God as that type of parent. Ideas that denigrate concern and respect create harm in cultures, homes, and religions. You can read and feel the corrosive nature of those ideas in some of these comments.

If Jesus Christ is not your Lord and Savior you're a nobody' Instead of shouting Black Power they should have been shouting Jesus Christ power. John 15:5 - Jesus Christ said "I am the vine, and you are the branches. If you stay joined to me, and I stay joined to you, then you will produce lots of fruit. But you cannot do anything without me".
