Beautifully done microscopy and video! Paramecium was one of my favorite creatures when I was a kid with my first microscope. Now as a retired biology professor, I've used this video to show other young students and general readers on Quora how Paramecium forms its food vacuoles. Like others here, I wish such videos had been available way back in the 1960s when I was first exploring microscopy and zoology. Thank you so much for sharing it here.
Bravo! This clip, had it been available two generations ago, would have revolutionised my understanding of the creature during high school biology classes. From text book pictures, no matter how good, one gets no idea whatever of the constant restless flow of protoplasm and the processes taking place therein. My thanks for the posting. I'm also very fond of Bach's music! Col, NZ.
Hello; The phase-darkfield is a modified phase contrast setup using a special objective that has an iris diaphram. Closing this iris down darkens the background while retaining the attributes of a phase contrast setup. The video on my Zeiss Universal scope will show you a bit of my setup and optics. Best, Craig
I am a class 7th student. We have not got biology yet, just the name of the creature paramecium is given here in our book, and I wanted to learn more about it, and also this video made me eager to learn more about this tiny creature. But I think looking some tiny creatures in a microsope is awesome😍. Thanks for sharing this video. 😊
Next time please use black for the lettering. The color you chose is very difficult to read with the background being a similar color. Otherwise it's a beautiful video.
Hi Craig, your microscopy is simply stunning and a benchmark for me to strive for. How do you achieve your "phase contrast dark field" technique. I'm not using the same scope/optics as you but would like to see if I can so a similar setup with my gear. Any clues would be appreciated.
Mr. Smith, Excellent work. But…no sound?…no music? Lots of text this time. Hard to read at times. Dose not matter, it is a good video that shows what it supposed to. A fan.
AMAZING MAN SEEING THE DIGESTION SO CLOSELY WAS MAGNIFICIENT, IT WAS A NICE A EXPLANATION IT WAS VERY LIVELY TO SEE THE SMALLEST MICROBES ON EARTH SO CLOSELY🤓🤓🤓😱😱😄😂
+Lucas Smith (MasterSkeletron431) I think their kinda cute too. They are just little guys, hanging around, eating... I also know that there is a micro organism that is called the euglena. It uses a little tail to move around, and it looks like its freaking out.

Wow! Amazing resolution and clarity and just plain pleasant to look at!!! Do you have more details on the microscope setup for this amazing footage?

Superb resolution..WONDERFUL...
Which microscope is this? The video is so cool with blue background! Can you please also tell us about the settings you used ?
Wow, what a great video! I love your videos and your mother.😁

Just what I need. I have an upcoming practical exam on protozoans next week. Cool vid.
Amazing resolution! Wonderful sharp images, thank you!
Now in love with biology 😍
Mr. Smith,

A fan.
Incredible photography.
When they say "400x" magnification, are they just talking about the objective lense? Or the total, (objective × eyepiece)?
I think it is objective times eyepiece because the eyepice is x10
AMAZING DETAIL!
it would be great if you speak .... very difficult to read and focus on the video at once ....... but hey great video !!!!
Very well done sir.thanks for al of l your vedios.
Amazing video! Keep up the good work
Hi Craig thanks for that info!

Not Happened yet 😂

Amazing video!
is this a lightmicroscope
What happens to waste products? Does it release whatever it can't absorb after a certain amount of time?
+Caleb McNevin The non-dissolved nutrients are removed through the celanus. Close to the end of the video you see how a vacuole is suddenly drained.
Lol pls make a vid on how amoeba eats
Just like it has a mouth-region, it also has a butt-region where whatever didn't get get broken down and taken up is released from
but it's kinda cute!! they are soft and snuggly:)
