That’s such a change in exhaust note with the new system and needle change. Nice boost in power too. Would love to see another video using the Fabs short headers 👍
The new exhaust is more efficient than the old one which altered the fuel required by the engine. We changed the needles to correct the air fuel ratio to optimum, like we did with the old exhaust.
A lovely-looking car, but 145 hp sounds a bit undernourished for an E-type? They were quoted as having 265 bhp as standard - although that was known to be optimistic - are you sure that’s not a 245 hp reading?
Would you have got the mid range power boost anyway with changing the carb needles? Not sure what difference the exhaust really made appart from acoustics.
No. The engine was tuned perfectly prior to changing the exhaust. The standard needles are UM and that's what was fitted. When the new exhaust is fitted it is so much more efficient that the engine requires a needle change to correct the air/fuel ratio.
Had one long system fitted to my Etype and hated it ,didnt fit properly , didnt clear torsion bar and was far too loud , the way to go is by all means fit a S/S system but keep the cast iron manifold and fit the MOSS mild steel chrome plated resonators its this that gives the car the Etype its real sound. Not worth the money in my mind.If you want a quick 10-12 hp increase fit the Mangoletsi foam air filter and upgrade the needles at the same time.
Do you mean “Cathouse Spares”? Or is there another place called “The Cathouse Spares”? No website exists for either so don’t know who you are but maybe direct us to your TH-cam channel so we can see what you do.

Just did one, I’ll get it up on here shortly.
You guys do such great work. ❤ from Canada!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the video upload, when you changed the needles its not clear how much of the gains come from the new exaust or needle adjustments.

Nice system. I would prefer one in mild steel.
I would be interested to know what carburetor needles ended up being the optimum ones.

The outcomes are inversely proportionate to how glossy the brochures and advertorials are.
yes.... 150HP from an E Type that should have 250HP??? Thats poor!!

I have the 4.2 headers in brushed stainless for most models if anybody is interested. Ask for them at The Cathouse spares. Mortdale NSW
