Shinedown is one of those rare bands that no matter what mood you are in, there is a song for you. Absolutely love Shinedown!!! Every album, every song!!!
For the first time in my life, the beautiful song, "Killing me, softly" rings a bell, although this band is quite different, for me. They HAVE "sung my whole life"; however, they've EMPOWERED me & have done me a wonderful deed, by giving me hope for life, after I have been dead.

The good thing about Shinedown is that they are only predictable in one way. That is you know its going to be a great cd. The fact that this is loads different to ' Cut The Cord ' just goes to show that ' Threat to Survival ' is not going to sound the same but be as varied as their other cd's. Personally i cannot wait. I see people commenting "this isn't ctc" and what I have to say to them is, would you rather pay for an album that has all the same songs or an album that where every song is a different adventure and not just one dead album that all sounds the same

I agree that ctc was really good and I would pay more to hear an album full of that energy, but then again its Shinedown and they like to branch out so I aint gonna hate for just one song.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. For Shinedown, sounding different with each album is just what they're all about. It works for them and that's okay. With Disturbed you know what you're getting, but that's okay too. I wouldn't wanna listen to a Disturbed album and it NOT sound like Disturbed. They always put a unique spin on each album though. Their "Sound of Silence" cover drove me to tears the first time I heard it. The Light and Never Wrong are two other very good songs.

I dont know if im the only one, but i like the feeling this album gives me, i know its different, and that its just what i think the album was planned to be, its rebirth. you jut have to find that sensation, if all you want is repetitive things, look for COD.

For all of you who think this song is not as good as their older songs, you need to ask yourself if you are a true shinedown fan because I love every song this band has ever sung, because I am a true fan. This song is about the battle in your own mind to become successful. We all have that voice in our heads that says we can do something great but that voice is always smothered out by another one that says all we can do is fail.
Zach Cox You can be a fan of the band without liking every scrap of music they've ever put out, I have respect for them going in the direction they want to go in but imo I think their earlier stuff is better, does that diminish my credibility as a fan of theirs? Not To be a downer, just here to say two years ago I lost my older brother to an overdose. The night before he reached out to me for help and I pushed it off because I was tired. It would be the last chance I ever had to help him. If you have a loved one who is in need and asks for help please answer them because you never know if it will be your last chance to. Lesson I learned is that its better to try a million times to help someone and fail than to not help someone once and never know if you could have helped them.

I helped him all I could, even paid to bail him out of jail once...gave him money, paid his rent, bought clothes and food and begged him to stop. I took him to three different rehab clinics and a few hospitals. Even with all of that, HE still had to make the decision to stop on his own. And he finally did. This past Oct he's been 10 years clean and he seems to be doing really well. He did drugs for about 25 years and we expected to get the call at any time that he'd overdosed or something. Thank God that call never came. So I really do understand. I really am sorry about your brother. You could have done a million things to help your brother but it still would have been up to HIM to make the choice to stop and to live. Remember that... Take care, man...

They tried way too hard, like intended to do something different but failed. The video may have made my reaction different mind you, 40 year olds acting like modern skate punks is definately silly. I'll give it a listen again, Cut the Cord is better then most songs coming out just seemed forced. It's not like they pulled a Disturbed and seem to be putting out songs just to get them out heh.
+Tim Roane I have to agree ctc was on my 'wtf did you just put out' list when I first heard it. However, lyrically it goes very deep. I now have a deeper respect for the new stuff these guys are putting out. Brent has come a long way, and as he always says, making/writing music is cheaper than therapy :)

they have released two song so far from the new album and they are amazing. if the whole album is as good as cut the chord and black cadillac it will definitely be an awesome album.

They tried way too hard, like intended to do something different but failed. The video may have made my reaction different mind you, 40 year olds acting like modern skate punks is definately silly. I'll give it a listen again, Cut the Cord is better then most songs coming out just seemed forced. It's not like they pulled a Disturbed and seem to be putting out songs just to get them out heh.
+Tim Roane I have to agree ctc was on my 'wtf did you just put out' list when I first heard it. However, lyrically it goes very deep. I now have a deeper respect for the new stuff these guys are putting out. Brent has come a long way, and as he always says, making/writing music is cheaper than therapy :)
I think this album will be well worth the wait. Love it!
