I attended my Turkey’s matches many times in person and Karakurt has been one of the most interactive players with the fans. I am guessing she just wasn’t feeling great (also there are some debates around her not seeming very happy in the last set and when the match ended)

Can I just say THANK YOU both for sharing your honest opinions, on point observation and calling out things most people (outside a spec country) think but are afraid to talk about 💛 I really appreciate your channel!

Karakurt is actually one of the only players who connects with fans after games. this week she wasnt there mentally especially in the first two games. santarelli rested her in korea game and she got back better mentally and physically. she might be having some problems after the game and im sorry those fans disappointed but it is not typical of her.
On the subject of giving interviews Zehra had an interview few years ago and in that interview she didnt understand one question and that video went viral with million views. it is sad that they feel this pressure. eda and cansu usually gives english interviews in the team and this year ebrar has joined them. volleyballworld usually interviews ebrar after the games.
like you said ebrar is an openly gay women in turkey and gets pressure and bullying every single day. there are people who want ebrar to kicked out of the national team since she doesnt align with the islamic values. and she has been through alot in russia too. thankfully she is strong and she has support around her.
your videos are always fun to watch. keep up the good work!!

This year, Hande Baladın had a psycho-stalker who threatened to throw nitric acid to her face. He harassed her over social media for months and even went to some of Eczacıbaşı games. She had to live in big fear for a long time. She and the other members of Team Türkiye may be a little bit hesitant after this, so don’t hold this against them that much. Also, Ebrar always takes time for the fans, just ask her Russian club Kaliningrad's fans. Maybe she didn't feel good this time or had something important to do. And you are right about their hesitancy to give English interviews.

Regarding what you’ve said about how we must chill and VNL is not the aim for us; THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT AS WE SAY IT FOR MONTHS IN TURKISH MEDIA AND X!! omg our people are obsessed with winning.. It was one damn set against Germany and they accused the team and Santa for being sloppy!!😑 Seriously, I don’t want to be #1 team anymore as it’s too much pressure for the girls and we need to avoid a hard olympic draw. 😅

Great review as always. I think the ISA learned alot and considering how much little time they had to work together we can expect a strong team week 3 .
However, i’m very confused why no one is talking about theWong orantes, she is not at top level at all and is struggling to read tips and in passing. I really thought hentz would have a chance to prive herself vs one of the big teams this weak, but instead she was only used vs bulgaria to give wong an extra recovery day.
Thompson is also a shadow of herself. I say this respectfully. I followed her last couple club seasons and ever since she left italy she has not been the same. I really don’t know what is going on in vakifbank but the players that go to that team past season have really been below their level, that includes frantti and obogu though she wanst 100 healthy. Thompson has completely lost her confidence, you can see it in her face. The matches here are not very different from what we’ve seen in club…swinging into the block, and unsuccessful tipping that turns out into a point scored for opposing opposite. When vargas and stysiak tipped against us wong was late to react…it works for them because everyone is afraid of their powerful attack and dont expect it…but thompson lack of confidence is clear and they are ready for her easy tips. I cannot even blame the setter, poutler was really forcing it and trying to get her going; she got lots of sets and still larson is our most reliable. I was hoping to see kendal kipp play but maybe not enough time after finishing the PVF league in the US. Lanier as a utility player is ridiculous. The usa has too much depth to not send two true opposites the olympics. Kipp, samedy, or even maddie skinner are healthy…

It’s unusual for Turkish players to be cold to their fans as they spent so much time even during regular season…National team means so much for them as you said they’re more than a team for us and for those girls…Our Sultans represents the value and position of Turkish women in the modern Turkish republic that we aspire to achieve against our watered down but still islamist conservative government. Also, Zehra can give interviews in English but used the language card as an excuse. She has an injury and I’m sure she has given orders not to speak to media. She did even refused to speak Turkish media which was present in the arena😪

I think you don't understand how big of a deal they are in Turkiye :) In uncontrolled environments like the venue in Arlington, they usually choose to make quick exits, which is fair because they could/would/have gotten mobbed by fans. In Turkiye, in their home gyms, they're very personable and interact with fans as much as they can. Maybe not Vargas but she's always been very very shy :)

I think Stysiak has been picking clubs that don’t necessarily guarantee her full season played in first roster due to her knee injuries, if I remember correctly, she didn’t play in 2022 vnl because of that injury, and in my opinion, not playing full club season allows her to play better during summer season

Thank you for your kind words 😊 yes, as a Turkish V fan, we love watching and supporting volleyball. We have Mediterranean blood. We are warm and passionate like Greece, Italy and Spain. We can't just sit back and wait for victory. 10:36 . Also, we all know that VNL is not that important for us, it is just a tournament that helps prepare for the Olympics. But there is still a trophy in the end and why don't we become b2b VNL champions? 😂

Turkish people need to stop seeing volleyball as a matter of life-and-death and start trying to enjoy the game itself more. That means not only caring about your own team but appreciating all teams and players who play good volleyball. Same thing goes for Brazilian fans as well.

Is Annie Drew or Robinson-Cook going to be palying this summer or for Paris? I really enjoy the USA squad, but I feel like Drews adds OPP power and Cook adds passing/hitting consistency. Whats their future for the USA team?

Hello from DR. The Dominican Republic women's coach is testing young players, 1 middle blocker, 1 setter, 2 OH, 2 liberos, and 1 Opposite. Our Main OH Brayelin Martínez didn't play on week 2 plus libero star Brenda Castillo is not in VNL at all.
One small rumor here in DR is that DR helped Canada increase olympic chances on week 1 by loosing 3-0, they say Norceca president Cristóbal Marte, who is dominican, wants a 3rd Norceca team in the olympics. Just a rumor.

    • @ajollypanda4175
      @ajollypanda4175 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thats a load of nonsense …why didn’t they help canada by beating the Netherlands? Hahaha you sound crazy. The truth is the DR got complacent after qualifying. They are not yet a nation like these other countries where they can play these games during an olympic season. They should be strengthening their bond woth their top roster for the olympics, even the top 2 ranked teams in the world is doing this so why is dominican resting their players like Serbia? I fear they will have a rude awakening in paris.

@@ajollypanda4175 A more rude awakening than the one they already have in this VNL? They were massacred by Italy, and so far they have looked pretty ugly. I doubt they can look worse than this.

Ebrar is usually great with fans - there must have been some reason why she acted the way she did. Also, it is completely understandable if Hande stays away from the fans - she had a stalker who threatened her and tried to throw acid on her face.

17:17 Stysiak plays for Fenerbahce, Istanbul, do you know who else plays for Fenerbahce? Melissa Vargas, that's who. That is why Stysiak is benched. So it is not bad roster construction.
A 5 second research about Stysiak's club could have ended this unnecessary rant before it started.

even before Fenerbahce, she was the 2nd opposite after Jordan Thompson in Milano. Which IS ridiculous since an opposite of her caliber would be starter in vast majority of the clubs in the world.

I have been to several Turkish NT games, and no, they don’t engage with fans. Really disappointing. That is a valid and on going on criticism also during club season especially for Karakurt, Gunes and Vargas. In fact thank you for bringing it up. Only exception I am aware is Baladin.
They feature in countless advertisements, very active in social media, and give interviews to big media outlets. Nothing really stops them when there is big money and attention. However, excuses are made when it is comes to engagement with fans in the USA or interview here. I don’t think they have to engage with anyone. However, anything listed here is an excuse.

Karakurt at the club season was in Russia and she was constantly giving signature to the fans… NT is completely overwhelmed and I saw in several matches myself that Eda and Zehra are giving signatures post match!

I do not want to disparage my country, but unfortunately, approximately 35% of the population is extremely bigoted and is a slave to the dogmatic nature of religion. Our Turkish Women's National Volleyball team is always bullied by this 35% group. They were always criticized for being women, for their lifestyles, and for their uniforms. They are always bullied. Especially, people are bullying Ebrar that makes us very sad. Hande had to live under the threats of one of these bullies for a while. The reason was the sanitary pad commercial she starred in. She was threatened with death. 75% of us love these women very much. The fact that they shed some light on the darkness in this environment gives us hope and pride. %75 of the population, We want secularism, enlightened and free thought. To us, their life choices have no meaning, but the value they place on our country and on our behalf is meaningful. Please, no one should feel sad that Ebrar acted coldly, because something unpleasant definitely happened for her. Otherwise, they are all very good-hearted people. If you paid attention at the end of the match, it was obvious that Ebrar was upset during the broadcast. We even worried too. Normally, even when Vargas scores a point, Ebrar is the most happy, not Vargas. After the last match she sent a video and we saw that her mood was up again so we became happy too. Unfortunately, they are not only fighting against other national teams, they are also fighting against that bigoted 35% of religious extremists in their country. If anyone reads my comment here and thinks badly about the Turkish National Team, please do not forget that our players go through a mental battle every hour of every day. I am a Turkish woman who is an academic and architect with a PhD degree. And I can say that Melissa Vargas, Hande Baladin and Ebrar Karakurt can make perfect technical hand drawings with a drawing course, but I can never do what they do with a volleyball course, never in my life. I respect them dearly. 🤍❤️🇹🇷🏐🧿♀️

I really enjoy watching your comments!! And THANK YOU for saying that turkish fans should CHILL OUT. Somebody had to say it. It is so true. Women's volleyball was becoming more and more popular in Turkey since 2019, but after last year it became almost the no. 1 sport right after soccer. It means that this year many people who don't know much about this sport has started to watch the NT games. I feel like majority of these people that cannot calm down belong to this category. For example, I really had to convince my grandpa who is 88 that its OK to lose 3-2 japan, which is an amazing team, IN THE FIRST GAME OF VNL🥲🥲
