Good information. Is stay stitching mainly used on woven garments? I really only sew knits and don't believe I've seen this instruction before.

Yes, stay stitching is generally for woven garments, since the purpose is to keep the fabric from stretching out and getting distorted as you work with it.

The issue is when the stay stitch is 1/2" from the edge and the seam is like 5/8" from the edge. If you're very clumsy like me, the stay stitches will be visible on the right side of the fabric after the seam is sewn. 💀

Staystitch at 3/8" or 1/4" instead!

I just sewed two tops and forgot to stay stitch and presto - disaster! Good reminder!

Yup I'm a big believer in stay stitching. Great idea to make a video of this.

Thanks so much for the thorough video on stay stitching. What are your thoughts on using stay tape in place of a stay stitch? Sometimes when doing a stay stitch on a lightweight fabric it seams to pucker. Thanks in advance for your assistance

I think stay tape could be helpful on lightweight fabric. I would recommend testing it first and seeing if you like the results!
