I've loved your channel since day one. You both are humble and very smart. I learned a great deal from your boondocking travels in the deserts and now I get to learn the nautical side. Seeing you both so happy and enjoying the waters is amazing. Watching the Vestri travel on the water is so relaxing. If I'm honest, I enjoy these videos more. Thank you both for sharing. It's so nice to see Anne at the helm. I hope in future videos you describe the instruments and their functions and how to use them; the repairs and maintenance. Trawlers are my favorite boats for leisure and I watch videos on all different kinds of boats so when I saw that you got a trawler, I was not surprised, but very happy indeed!

Not only a great guy but incredibly knowledgeable in RV stuff, and now bringing that knowledge over to a boat. Can’t wait to see the similarities and differences. Thanks for all you do for us.

We are leaving Monday on an Alaska cruise. I was going to wave as we passed your RV park in Campbell River Monday evening! It has always been a dream of mine to spend a summer on a small boat exploring Coastal BC and SE Alaska. This cruise will be as close as I'll ever get to that dream. I am so envious. I did read Jonathon Raban's book, Passage To Juneau, and remember his worries about tidal change during the night and the boat hitting a rock while anchored. Along with some places with strong currents, perhaps it wouldn't be the relaxing trip I imagine.
I have loved SE Alaska and Coastal BC after my first Alaska Ferry trip in 1969. Since that first trip, I have taken the ferry two more times with my family (from Bellingham to Skagway). What is a strong attraction for me, is to explore places inaccessible by road. An alternate trip (we are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary) was to take our fifth wheel and explore Vancouver Island, take the ferry from Port Hardy to Bella Coola, spend the night and return to Port Hardy. Then take the ferry to Powell River and explore the Sunshine Coast before returning to Oregon. I just didn't want to spend the time planning that trip this year and, after getting used to the cost, decided it would be easiest to hop on a cruise ship in Vancouver and let others do all the planning. I am looking forward to visiting Yakutat Bay and Misty Fjords this trip.
I look forward to your videos about your summer explorations. Happy boating, Ray!

Fun Fun Fun! I spent 8 years on my liveaboard while taking trips in the RV. I based out Charleston Marina Complex at Coos Bay, Oregon. Very reasonable fees and a great location to base out of. Fair Winds. (And no sales taxes on those future B.O.A.T. needs)

Having been a boater all my life and RVr for the past 55 yrs, there are more similarities than dissimililites in the two. Wife and I gave up the boating (Nordic Tug 32) due to age (we're both in our 80s) & physical issues. We're still RV'n in our fifth wheel (Arctic Fox 27-5L) though. Lookin' forward to your water&land adventures.

Yes, the parts are often stupidly expensive but hopefully, I can use some of my repair talents to mitigate the cost as in the RV. Yesterday the bow thruster joystick control was dead. The replacement cost is $350, but I took it apart and determined it was a defective little power switch built into it. I traced the circuitry with my multimeter and soldered an external momentary switch. Total parts cost 10 bucks. :)

I also follow a few sailing channels but right now most of them are getting new boats built, "Sailing Nahoa" being one of them, a couple from B.C. who are now in South Africa preparing to cross the Atlantic in there present boat and "Ran Sailing" they are building there own boat in Sweden from scratch with Cedar from Haida Gwaii. Congratulations on the new (to you) boat, many new adventures to come I'm sure!
