- To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon universal just released a very special pressing of this album. The new release has UV Printed art on clear see through vinyl on 2 discs in 33 RPM. In this video I unbox this release and review it.

Bought it, Love it, Its going on the wall in a frame, and im leaving it sealed :)
Money, it's a hit. Remix, repack and rerelease it.
Money, it's a crime, sell it unfairly for £64.99.
First one that does not tear apart the plastic cover w the sticker. And first one i see that knows how to handle the disc wothout touching the tracks. Thank you sir.
Thanks for the compliment!
Hello my copy is perfect in all aspects except for a black spill on disc 2. Do u guys think I should return it in the hope of having a crystal clear copy. Looking for opinions. Thx
No, I think you should keep it. Not many with those mistakes.
Hallo,
i orderes also this copy. Two fat scratches, so I had to send back the vinyl- but that dosen‘t matter, because I did not know the sounding before and have only an early european pressing- so, before I sent it back I made a short sound check- o my god, It felt as my speakers are packed in a bag- where are the hights and the dynamic of my old european pressing? at last i was glad that i could sent it back. - but of course- nice look
This one is indeed not one for the sound; which European pressing do you have?
EMI P 1973 The gramophone company LTd made in germany
I like the channel. I have subscribed!!!
Salutation’s from Belfast Northern Ireland 🇬🇧
Thank you! And welcome on board!
Mine arrived yesterday and I love it!!!! I also own the gold mobile fidelity cd, which I think is the best sounding digital form of the album.
I’ve heard very good stories about the MoFi Gold disc. I have the MoFi vinyl and though absolutely good; it doesn’t live up to it’s reputation.
Just recieved mine yesterday , this one is a GEM forsure. I dont even wanna open it , that is beautiful man,
Yeah..I mean why check if its scratched, warped, off center..or if even the actual record?😅😅😅
Must be nice to have actually received this. Target cancelled my order without proper warning.
Hello everyone, can anyone tell me what the Jeanne edition actually sounds like? I already realized that it’s beautiful
Jeanne edition? You mean the UV Art printed one? It is the same as the usual black vinyl. Perhaps just slightly smoother sounding (hairline of difference). This pressing doesn’t sound bad but there are loads and loads of better ones out there, I just did a ranking video about that.
Wow, interesting
I was 13 when darkside came out, it happened to coincide with my first hit of acid, the next day I bought a 100 hits, just to have on hand, 😉 the one time in my life my timing was perfect.
That sounds amazing! How was that first listen?
I also adore a record being in the shrink with the hype sticker. I do not buy many new records, but I buy lots of sealed "new old stock" vintage records. I always try to keep the shrink and hype sticker intact when I open them. (Don't worry, nothing valuable. I am not unsealing sealed Velvet Underground records, haha. I am talking about records that are like $20 sealed WITH shipping.)
Thanks for the review but I'll not buy it because it's too expensive and I own 3 original versions already: the UK release, the German release and the Japanese. Which is the better? I don't know since all play spectacular
Awesome! I love the German pressing! Which UK pressing do you have?
@@top5records796 Cannot find it anymore among my tons of LPs. I think I have gave it to my son who lives in Berlin some time ago. But I have found the German pressing 1C 064-05 249 (from mid '70 I think) that plays very fine although some passages are a bit harsh. Moreover the real treat IMHO is the Japanese third pressing from 1974 EMS-80324. From a quick comparison this is the real winner: the music is fleshy, smooth, the bottom end is very deep and most of all the soundstage is more than huge, simply galactic. Probably true that this version cannot be improved
Looks kool
I completely agree!
I cannot believe people insist on keeping the manufacturer plastic and hype sticker on an album! There is a reason the cover is presented with a particular design not to be blotted out by a hype sticker, which is just a marketing tool!!!! If that is so important to you don't open it at all!
These hype stickers can sometimes age beautifully. I hate a hypesticker on the cover itself but on the plastic…
I bought last year from someone several albums, also this Pink Floyd album, a late 70s pressing for 25 Euros. But at home I saw, it came without the poster (and stickers). So this year I sold this version again for 25, and I will buy me the 50th anniversary album, black vinyl, which comes with the original poster and stickers. This new double clear vinyl version is very nice, but I will not buy it. I will buy the black vinyl version. I just buy 1 version of an album, Greetings from Belgium! Jason
Oooh I would advice against selling a 70s pressing to buy the 50th really…
I wonder if they made a ton? A discount would be be great right! It’s a collector for sure.
And doo sound to bad either way!? Interesting. Thanks for the video
I don’t think they made a ton. I guess it’s an expensive item and they made it as a collector’s item.
More importantly, how does this pressing sound????
I haven't heard a single fricking word yet about how this thing sounds.
I’ll give it a spin but I do mention the mastering (and pressing plant) in this video. Thing is; this pressing is not made for the sound. If you want the sound of this pressing go with the regular 50th anniversary on black vinyl that goes for about 25 bucks. But that’s not my recommendation per se; go for any 70s analogue pressing. I’ll do a bigger comparison video on this album later this year.
So you assumed it sounds same as the standard 50th? I suggest it may not having bought it. You claim this is a review after all so I suggest review the sound as well as the packaging.
@@classicrock7890 I assumed it. I assumed it correctly (th-cam.com/video/yTgRYGk9SYA/w-d-xo.html) and this is not a release focussed on sound. Because the exact mastering and stampers have been released just some months ago for an item 30% of the price. This release is a gimmick, a collectors item. That’s what the review is about.
Wish they'd just give it a fucking rest, after the 50th anniversary i thought they'd stop for at least another 5 years but no heres another one for the 51st anniversary but we are still gonna say 50th cus it sounds better and will sell more
Maybe ,just maybe..you don't need to buy it😅😅😅
I don’t think anyone is saying the 50th anniversary edition will or should sound better.
Purchase not required
Typical just bought the 2017 remaster last week off eBay.
That is the Bernie Grundman remaster right? That’s not a bad one. Was it expensive?
@@top5records796 actually no it was very reasonable. £19.99 including shipping so can’t complain. Brand new/sealed 👍🏻
@@kristianbooth6262 that’s a very fair prize. I would usually suggest to find a original or analoge reissue but if you want a new copy that is a very good release.
... podrías prestámelo..?
Gracias, Saludos 👍🏻
I’m so sorry, I don’t lend out my records (they are so fragile)…
Ho ho ho...
What’s the problem?
@@top5records796 Hey, bud, no problem at all. My bad! I'm Brazilian, and here, we use "ho ho ho" like when opening Christmas gifts, lol. Cheers!
@@TiagoCavalcanti-ji6hu aaah interesting! Just learned something new!
LORDE????
What about Lorde?
@@top5records796 looks like LORDE’s Pure Heroine album cover lol
I am getting a little DSOTM sick🤢 it’s only for the🤑🏦🤌
