@ChronoglideWatchmaking
I bought a used watch for spare parts, (especifically the whole movement) for repairing another watch, in fact I was planning in throw it to the trash can after taking off its movement cause the case was so dull and full of scratches, but I just couldn't throw it away and I leave it in a box where I have some other spare watch parts. Then, one day I said "what if I take it and try to polish it?" I'm not a professional watchmaker, and I said, "why not, I was planning to throw it away so, let's polish it, just like a hobbie" and I start to sand it, grit 500, grit 800, grit 1200, grit 3000, and I say "ok, now the metal polishing compound" and oh my 😮, it ended as a beautiful watch. I've put its movement in again and now it's one of my favorite watches 😅. And yes, I was about to throw it away. By the way, it's a humble late 1970's (I think 😬) Citizen Eagle Seven.
Most informative, thank you. Liked and subscribed.

Disassembling a Certina KF330 while I wait for the live to start.
Good information but most of my customers would never pay for refinishing when asked they say clean and leave it as long as it works! I live in a different environment as cost comes FIRST. 😫
Danke aus Dresden.
Great video, thank you so much for doing thses. Do you ever replate cases that are Gold? I would like to replate a few watch cases that I hvae. Dan C.
The first watchappears to be wonderful calibre 1310 based Omega, of which I have many examples, some 20 now, awaiting restoration and your guideance regarding re-finishing is so very welcome. Thank you Kalle for sharing your extensive skills and knowledge. I do hope you can do a walk through of the work to re-finish the Omega as this would help me so much with the many i have to do.
Is the base material of a gilded watch most of the times polished? I can remove the plating, repolish the case and electroplate it again?
And what do you do when there is a huge dent in the case. You showed a watch (4:47) whith dents in the lug. To remove the dent removes a lot of material...
Would love to afford attending your education training for watchmaking……… do you give a senior discount? ……lol. Thanks for the you tube lessons.
