  • From the moment you see Hooktail dramatically flying overhead as soon as you enter Petal Meadow to the pre-fight dialogue upon reaching the top of her castle, you're constantly reminded that you're going up against something that's larger than life. So naturally, it's only fitting that the battle against Hooktail has a theme that's just as powerful as she is as she leaps into battle and takes up half of the stage.
Though while Hooktail's arguably the most iconic character to receive this theme, the other members of her family, Gloomtail and Bonetail, manage to be memorable in their own right due to their surprise factor (for first-time players) and challenging fight, respectively. Seriously, when I first played "Thousand-Year Door" back in the day, even though I was religiously following a strategy guide (and still somehow managing to struggle with the game), I was still floored when I ran into Gloomtail because the last thing you expect to see in this ancient, evil palace that has been sealed off from the rest of the world for a millennia is a stronger version of the first boss with (in my personal opinion) a better color palate, complete with the same dramatic intro.

Ah the pre Hooktail pit. My favorite part of that song is the choir chant in the background that’s warmbly and discordant. But that aside this remix is bumpin’
