I hate driving CVT's hard.
Its like doing a skid till you get to speed, at almost redline, bringing attention to yourself, and taking the fun out of driving, it kinda feels like you have a slipping gearbox...
However normal driving is great, no shift 'thunk' and low rpm...
Australia gets 5 speed, with paddle shift and grade logic. But doesn't get SPORT models.
Jeff G if feel you man. Its just like that on the altima. But the accord sport is something different. In sport mode the revs build in steps 90% almost like an auto. If the simulated shift points were more distinct (it seems to be a rpm range and not a set number) then you could not tell the difference. I have this car and i wish it had a sport plus mode. I am assuming its all in software as its a CVT. Seems that CVT's are the future... happy or sad i am not sure yet
Although I am sure the CVT does the job and is good for fuel economy, hearing it under hard acceleration gives the impression of hearing a snowmobile.
I woud like to see a similar video with the 6 speed manual. On the same course.
Great camera view. I wish more videos of people driving manuals had this view. You get a good front view of outside the car, and nice display of the interior of the front of the car.
I am amazed at the gas mileage the screen shows for a V6. On one trip it was 31 mpg. Highest I've gotten thus far is 24 mpg combined with a 4. Course she's only got about 1000 miles on her.
Never had a problem with my 14 accord sport,it looks good and its quick,and all yall bitchin about cvts gtfo,go buy shity as cars like ford and kia,their resale value is as horrible as bmw and Mercedes

well you can get the V6 in this car with the 6-speed automatic.

I was a CVT hater like most everyone here until I drove this car. Coming from the 5sp auto in the old car to the CVT is a major improvement. Spongy feel is almost non-existant. The transmission is almost completely unnoticeable when you're cruising around and when you step on it there is no search for a gear or jolt; it just goes. The addition of paddle shifters to control the 7 pseudo-gear ratios makes it nice for engine braking and maintaining the power band during spirited driving.
i know, i feel like im over reving the car even tho the logical part of my mind says that its constantly adjusting the ratio.
every one under estimates a Honda. How about you own before you talk bad about them. I have the exact same car and let me tell you its nicer than a lot of expensive cars..
Dreadful engine roar under acceleration. Honda obviously doesn't know how to soundproof cars.
I love mine. Same color as this in 4 cylinder. I have no problems with the ride or supposed engine noise. Accelerates quickly. Gets 27 mpg in the city and 37 on the hwy, about 32 combined. I recommend it.
Two weeks ago, I bought this car, gray color. I love it! I get so much more car in the lower $20K+, sporty and awesome standard tech package compare to a $30K+ car. I highly recommended the Accord Sport sedan.
If Honda refines this car every year instead drastic changes, Accord Sport sedan will become a legend in 3-5 years.
I have had this car for 5 years and still try to figure out about it. Very reliable car. By the way the your view is very weak. There is nothing to lure someone.
You aren't explaining why someone is not allowed to dislike CVTs. You're attempting to give a reason which is basically that they do not want a manual transmission for whatever reason. This is clearly not an explanation as to why they aren't allowed to dislike CVTs. Let's say you're "too lazy" (because o course, that's the only reason there could ever be) to walk up the stairs, should you not be allowed to complain that the lift is made of asbestos?
Try ordering it from Honda Canada, there is a silver sport available besides black , white and blue pearl (manual transmission options only). I hope that in 6 months from now my only favorite color here - blue, which can only be "ordered for manual" is still available. HUGE disrespect to customers who still want to buy manual trans. car. I don't want their stupid lazy ass CVT's that make the engine scream to 6000 RPM every time it's downshifting...
I went to the Honda dealer today and found out that the Accord Sport 6 speed manuel only comes in black and grey, and the Coupe six speed manuel only comes in black.

Whatever happened to being able to get what you want. Ideally I'd like to buy a silver Accord Sport and add a moonroof. I'm even willing to pay extra for the color I want in an Accord Sport 6 speed.
I'm trying to decide between the Accord Sport , Accord Coupe EX or the Acura TSX, whatever I end up with it has to be a 4cyl. 6 speed manuel.
I think the Accord Sport is probably the best value, but the TSX is such a high quality car, it's a tough decision...HELP!!!
well mine has leather seats i got the Coupe EX L V6 (orchard pearl white) with black and tan interior idk what the sport difference with sedan but all i know the v6 coupe and the sport sedan has the same sport rims 18" they given me with the 17" at 1st smh lol
can someone tell me what is CTV since everybody was talking abt it.. i had a 2012 all new civic.. and im buying another accord now.. not a honda lover, but compared to all new camry.. i think accord is more worth it.. but dont really like the new back light design =/
all Honda ha to do is this: okay have the base LX accord and the EX Accord 4 cylinder models with the CVT automatics while the EX V6 and the Sport models have a 6-speed automatics with the manual shift mode feature and paddle shift..I have no use for CVT's..thank you
he he he... i think you missed my point... he was test driving an Automatic that has paddle shifts on the steering column... it would have been more FUN to play with those than just plain old driving... i agree a Manual is the way to go for those that like it...
I make it about 140 mph on my 2013 Honda accord sport sp far it doesn't shake.
I like the look of this new generation better than the last. I wish Honda would come out with an all wheel drive Accord. I don't like the Crosstour. I think it is fugly. Us people in the midwest are starting to defect to Subarus.
I don't know about yall but ima speed enthusiast, so if the car is not manual im not interested. (FYI) I know it comes in manual but I mean in general. Put it like this you're not getting the full performance if ur not driving manual.
The Accord is extremely well rounded. It will also get better mileage while still running on regular fuel. The TSX is better equipped, but it's not really a better value. There are better luxury cars for the money than the TSX.
I just test drove the new 2013 Accord Sport in black. I will buy this car in the next 5 months. The car drives like an exotic luxury sport car. It saves a lot of gas money. Buy the 2013 Accord Sport like me.

wrong. mazda 6's design is way too aggressive to age well over time. It looks cool now, but not so much after 6 months guaranteed. Just like Hyndai Sonata looks today, boring.
You mean inline-4 not v4. V is supposed to refer to the V shape the groups of pistons form out of the centre of the crank. There are not really any "v4s" being made today or ever.
By appeasing the US consumer, they couldn't give us the nice Euro Accord R (TSX). They needed to make something a touch better than we have, but not as good as it should be. Typical.

No; It has slightly more power than the LX, EX and EX-L but definitely not a v6. The dual exhaust on this model is probably to give it a more sporty ook.
a cvt with paddle shifters is not sport at all. true sport is a manual transmission and this car can have a six speed manual trans. cvt is for grannies.
Sure, that's why you get a manual. People that can't or won't drive a manual shouldn't complain about how their car sounds or performs.
How can honda rip off a design that they had on previous accords going all the way back to the early 90's?

I would recommended the Accord Sport Sedan, period. It's a V4 182 torques at 3900RPM, 189 horses at 6400RPM comes awesome standard technology package will make your iPhone/iPad tangos. One full tank will get approx. 450-500 miles or more depended on your driving.
If you hauling 3-4 people around every day, a V6 might make sense. V6 will be $10K more but other bloat stuffs you might or might not need come with it. I saved $10K for future car purchase or stock investments.
I dont think Pilot has CVT engine.Plese check with Honda.
I was concerned about new tech, too. But if you want an Accord with automatic, you have to chance it. I would hope that if they have problems with it, that Honda would make good on fixing it rather than run bad publicity. I keep reading CVT is the wave of the future, since it gives better fuel economy. I've noticed a few differences with the CVT, but nothing I would call a deal breaker. The more I drive it, the better it gets.
the difference between fuel economy of a traditional auto and the CVT is minuscule. It's like looking at an Auto and a Manual transmission. there's like a 1-3mpg difference on paper, but in reality you hardly see that.
That being said....i wouldn't mind owning a 2013 Accord Sport with the CVT. I hate not having gears but that car is so damn good looking lol
Interesting. I'll admit it drives a little differently, but I haven't found it anything I can't live with. And I really haven't found it noisy. But considering my last car was a 2003 Civic, maybe that's why!

To me, part of the annoyance of a CVT can come from the sound of the engine. This vehicle, at least in this video, has more of a deeper bass sound, and so even though the CVT will rev the engine a bit, it isn't as annoying as some I've driven. Also, this drive train doesn't take long to get up to speed, so the "drone" isn't nearly as long as others. Can you tell it is a CVT? Yes, but this one is one I think I could live with.
Yea I get what your saying, on the coupe & sedan it has the the paddle shifters and then it can mimic an auto and the cvt rubberband effect sorta goes away when using the sport mode with the paddshifters. it's not as bad as some nissans though.
I know everyone is saying this CVT works very well, but I just can't stand the engine sounding like that, like it's stuck on a certain RPM. haha
What's wrong with a good cvt? Except for the track. It brings you into your power band and leaves you there. Any gear change technically slows you down as thrust goes to 0.

I thought the same thing! I have a 2013 Accord EX sedan and an 02 EX sedan which my teenaged daughter now drives. Both of our cars have the sunroof and we use them all the time. We are looking to replace the 02 early next year. I was thinking of a used Sport but I've always wondered why this trim doesn't have the sunroof. It has everything else "sport." And I'm also curious why it doesn't have push button start?
i own a 2012 accord lx and also the 2013 accord lx and can honestly say there are some big differences between the two cars.In the build quality,fit and finish the 2012 is not a match for the 2013 but on the other hand,the ride and driver feedback is well waaaay better on the 2012 where the 2013 is a very very bumpy ride and i can also add i have a little concern (reliability) with the all new technology that the 2013 accord comes.With that said i still like the 2013 accord better.

I can't.. I went to the dealership and drove in a CVT accord, it's toooo noisy! forget it.. Waiting for the manual one to come! lol
I just bought my accord EX L V6 Coupe with navigation/ with the dual screens. Orchard pearl white and with black and tan interior also it comes with the LED's headlight trim very very happy but i kinda like the touring V6 because of the LED light beams and it's more comfy lol
The TSX is a lot more expensive, if you're going for that price range check out the EX-L V6 or the Touring model in a manual.
Nice vid! About 6 months ago, my wife got a '12 Pilot Touring that comes with a CVT. It took some getting used to. Get the touring if u don't want to hear anything outside of the cabin. The "spongy" feel is just the lack of hard gear shifts we were used to in all of her previous Accords, Civics & her Element. I'm waiting until the '14 model year to wait for all the kinks to be worked out.
I honestly think the Accord sport is the best looking midsize sedan in the class...even better than the Fusion and Optima. The Accord looks clean, upscale and will probably age well like a Honda should.
Test drove the 6 speed manual. It's super slick, short shifting (like an Audi or BMW), a real pleasure to drive. And no body roll, very balanced. The clutch is incredibly light. I own an 06 accord manual, but there is no comparison. I believe that 2013 accord's mt has been taken from old Acura TSX or European accord. I want Blue pearl sport manual...hopefully soon.
wow. it is a pretty new idea, but it will take time to see if they can iron the bugs out. They do improve mileage and they DO work great--reliability is the only issue and ONLY time will tell if that can be accomplished. Simple Simon (that be you) can't answer that
Very clean looking Accord. I was wondering what the heck the noise was at 3:46...I'm hoping that maybe you ran some debris over and that it was not the ABS system kicking in on a hard stop! Love the way you put videos together...no talk and all driving!
My too, I love it! iPhone/iPad, bluetooth and USB integration awesome. This car was the right mix of commute and sport fun. I was afraid to drive too fast might get a ticket.
There are too many cops on my highways or bump-to-bump traffics.
In addition on Amazon, I bought after market trunk tray, blue LED lights for cabinet floor illumination and iPhone mount on vent for GPS use, very happy.
Well, if it's going to have a CVT, at least it's coupled with a sweet Honda 4 cylinder. Anyone who has driven one of these love the smoothness and sound.

Manufacturers are moving to CVTs because they provide optimal fuel economy. Remember, CAFE standards are literally forcing all manufacturers to prioritize that. If they don't they'll be hit with major fines.
I've had one for 6 months now. I don't notice any extra noise and it's got plenty of varummph. In gas saver mode I get 27mpg City and 37 highway!
This new accord really has a lot going for it! Honda really stepped it up with this car. Hoping that Honda will give us an accord sport v6 sedan with 6 speed manual, sunroof, and push button start for the mid model refresh. Love my 8th gen, but I like this better

I seem to agree. I drove a friend's Accord to do a quick errand and I found it awkward--difficult to get a sense of where the front of the car was. But then again, I assume that feeling comes with time.

At 2:36 the CVT sounds kick in. That's a terrible sound for a car. I'm glad I didn't buy this car and bought the TSX instead.

Ok the cvt in this works ok. I've seen some of the CVTs in Nissan Maximas and those dont preform like this.

I ended up getting the LX model to save myself an additional $2k. I love it so far. The computer is showing that I'm getting 39.7 mpg on average. If I can maintain that, I'll get over 600 miles per tank. :)
If smooth road, inside cabin is quiet and if turned on music at low volume. I could not hear outside noise.
Anybody who says "v4" needs to get smacked. LOL. 4 cylinders don't have a V-shape. Its an inline 4.

The Honda Accord Sport model has 189 HP.I wish they hadn't decreased the HP.The EX-L V6 has 278 HP.
